SMALL-CAP WINNERS & LOSERS: Funding Circle up after raising guidance

Wed, 19th May 2021 10:57

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers among London Main Market small-caps on Wednesday.

----------

SMALL-CAP - WINNERS

----------

Funding Circle Holdings PLC, up 16% at 172.00 pence, 12-month range 71.30p-189.80p. The small business lender says trading has been stronger than anticipated in 2021 so far, while total income and core earnings are anticipated to be ahead of previous expectations. It expects total income for six months to June 30, to be no lower than GBP120 million. Funding Circle posted total income of GBP101.2 million for the same period a year ago.

----------

Bank of Georgia Group PLC, up 3.4% at 1,158.00p, 12-month range 734.00p-1,291.51p. The Georgian lender says it saw a robust first-quarter performance. For three months to March 31, swings to pretax profit of GEL152.3 million from loss of GEL113.0 million a year ago. Net interest income up 7.7% at GEL212.3 million from GEL197.1 million.

----------

SMALL-CAP - LOSERS

----------

Argo Blockchain PLC, down 5.3% at 123.15p, 12-month range 3.41p-325.00p. Shares in the cryptocurrency miner are lower after bitcoin plunged below USD39,000 for the first time in more than three months. China said cryptocurrencies would not be allowed in transactions and warned investors against speculative trading in them, despite the country powering most of the world's mining. The comments sent the unit diving more than 10% and dealt it another blow soon after being battered by comments from Tesla founder Elon Musk.

----------

Marston's PLC, down 1.6% at 93.75p, 12-month range 30.80p-105.50p. The pub operator posts a widened loss, with sites closed due to lockdown. For six months to April 3, posts revenue of GBP55.1 million, down from GBP343.3 million last year, and pretax loss sharply widens to GBP105.5 million from GBP31.1 million.
