FUTURES RISE AFTER TWO-DAY SELLOFF
U.S. stock index futures rose as traders swooped up bargainsfollowing a two-day selloff that took S&P 500 futures to theirlowest in seven weeks. S&P 500 futures were up 9 points,Dow Jones industrial average futures up 93 points, andNasdaq 100 futures up 15 points.
** IDENIX PHARMACEUTICALS INC, Thursday close$5.13, down 36 pct premarket
Idenix Pharmaceuticals said it expects a delay in humantrials of one of its experimental hepatitis C drugs after theU.S. Food and Drug Administration asked for additional safetydata.
** SPREADTRUM COMMUNICATIONS INC, Thursday close$22.29, up 22 pct premarket
The Chinese cellphone chip designer said it received a $1.38billion buyout proposal from a unit of government-owned TsinghuaHoldings Co Ltd. The offer of $28.50 per American depositoryshare represents a premium of 28 percent to Spreadtrum'sThursday closing price.
** ENZO BIOCHEM, Thursday close $2.27, down 8 pctpremarket
The company will be taken off the S&P Smallcap 600 Index onJune 28.
** FACEBOOK INC, Thursday close $23.90, up 2.3 pctpremarket
UBS upgraded the social network's stock to "buy" from"neutral", according to theflyonthewall.com. Facebook introducedvideo for its popular photo-sharing application Instagram onThursday in an attempt to take on rival Twitter.
** CARMAX INC, Thursday close $44.57, up 5 pctpremarket
The largest U.S. used-car retailer reported quarterlyresults above analysts' expectations as it sold more used carsat higher prices.
** DARDEN RESTAURANTS INC, Thursday close $51.23, up1.5 pct premarket
The restaurant chain operator reported better-than-expectedquarterly sales, helped by aggressive promotions and theintroduction of cheaper fare at its Olive Garden and Red Lobsterchains.
** THERAVANCE INC, $36.76, up 8 pct premarket
The Daily Mail's market report on Friday cited "industrygossip" that GlaxoSmithKline is lining up a $55 pershare bid for Theravance, in which the British drug giantalready has a stake. (http://r.reuters.com/sew98t)
** AMARIN CORP, Thursday close $6.30, up 2.5 pctpremarket
The drugmaker said its flagship drug to treat hightriglyceride levels was well-tolerated, with no serious adverseevent reported, in combination with a widely used cholesteroldrug in an early-stage trial.
** ORACLE CORP, Thursday close $33.21, down 8 pctpremarket
The technology giant missed expectations for software salesand subscriptions for the second straight quarter. Evercore Partners, Canaccord Genuity, BMOCapital Markets, Oppenheimer and Susquehanna Financial Group cuttheir price targets on the stock.
** APPLE INC, Thursday close $416.84, up 0.5 pctpremarket
A Tokyo court ruled that Samsung Electronics Co Ltd had infringed the iPhone maker's patent for a"bounce-back" feature on earlier models of its popularsmartphones, in which icons quiver back when users scroll to theend of an electronic document.
** PHARMERICA CORP, $15.81 Thursday close, down 5pct premarket
The pharmacy services provider said hospital operatorKindred Healthcare Inc will not renew Pharmerica'scontract for skilled nursing pharmacy services next year.Pharmerica will continue to provides pharmacy managementservices to Kindred's hospitals through 2014 under anothercontract. ** LLOYDS BANKING GROUP PLC, Thursday close $3.74,down 2.6 pct after market
Lloyds Banking Group must plug a capital shortfallof 8.6 billion pounds ($13.5 billion), Britain's bankingregulator said on Thursday, a day after the government signalledplans to return the part-state owned lender to the privatesector.
** QUESTCOR PHARMACEUTICALS INC, $44.77, down 2.2pct premarket
Bank of America downgraded the Acthar gel maker's stock to"neutral" from "buy", according to Theflyonthewall.com andbenzinga.com. The reason behind the downgrade was not clear fromeither website.
** FIVE BELOW INC, Thursday close $37.41, up 4 pctafter market
The specialty value retailer postponed its secondary shareoffering on Thursday.
** WESTERN ASSET MORTGAGE CAPITAL CORP, Thursdayclose $17.28, up 4 pct after market
The mortgage REIT lowered its second-quarter cash dividendby 5 cents to 90 cents per share, compared with larger payoutcuts by peers. American Capital Agency and AmericanCapital Mortgage Investment Corp have cut theirquarterly payouts by 20 cents and 10 cents respectively, amidconcerns that winding down of Fed's $85 billion monthlybond-buying program will raise short-term borrowing cost.
** TESLA MOTORS INC, Thursday close $100.65, up 2pct premarket
The electric car maker on Thursday unveiled a system to swapbattery packs in its electric cars in about 90 seconds, aservice Chief Executive Elon Musk said will help overcome fearsabout their driving range.
** SPRINT NEXTEL CORP, Thursday close $7.07
SoftBank Corp CEO Masayoshi Son said he wasconfident his company's acquisition of Sprint will be completedin early July after rival bidder Dish Network Corp failed to make a counter move this week.
** MICRON TECHNOLOGY INC, Thursday close $13.535, up2 pct premarket
Sanford C. Bernstein raised its target price on thechipmaker's stock to $20 from $14, saying the company's dynamicrandom access memory (DRAM) business should keep recovering in2013 following the acquisition of Elpida.
** ARCHER DANIELS MIDLAND CO, Thursday close $32.61,up 2.2 pct premarket
The U.S. agribusiness giant said on Thursday it is in talksto sell its cocoa business in a further sign that ADM isfocusing on expanding its footprint in the burgeoning globalgrains sector.
