LONDON (Alliance News) - The chairman of HSBC Holdings PLC has ruled out moving the bank's headquarters from London following the UK's vote to leave the European Union, the Financial Times said.
Douglas Flint, speaking at a City UK conference, said the referendum result will not prompt another review of the bank's base, after it had decided back in February that it would keep its headquarters in London rather than move to leading alternative contender Hong Kong.
"We said at the time we made the decision that we?d taken that [a Brexit] into consideration and that in the event of this outcome we would not call for that to be revisited," Flint said.
Shares in HSBC were up 1.1% to 457.65 pence Thursday.
