Aug 16 (Reuters) - Some U.S. stocks on the move on Friday:

WALL STREET FALLS; RETAILERS, UTILITIES HIT

U.S. stocks fell, following the largest one-day drop inalmost two months a day earlier, as retailers took a beatingafter reporting lackluster earnings and high-dividend names werehurt by rising interest rates.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 0.27 percentwhile the Standard & Poor's 500 Index lost 0.37 percent.The Nasdaq Composite Index edged up 0.04 percent.

** PRANA BIOTECHNOLOGY LTD, $4.22, up 13.1 pct(1415 ET)

The Australian company said results from mid-stagetrials of its lead drug aimed to treat Alzheimer's andHuntington's disease are expected in October 2013 and March2014, respectively.

Prana also said it will make senior appointments intoxicology, manufacturing and clinical operations businesses tosupport plans to move to late-stage studies.

** AMR Corp $2.77, up 7.8 pct (1500 ET)

The airline's shares rebounded 7 percent on Friday afterthree days of decline that wiped out about $1.1 billion off itsmarket value, following the Department of Justice's move toblock the $11 billion merger with U.S. Airways.

** MILLENIAL MEDIA INC, $6.91, up 4.2 pct (1417 ET)

The mobile advertising company said it would acquire JumptapInc, which helps companies place and track advertisements ontablets and smartphones, in a predominantly stock transaction.Millenial Media said that based on its stock's closing price of$9.13 on Aug. 9, the deal is valued at about $225 million.

** PARAGON SHIPPING INC, $5.72, up 17 pct (1248 ET)

** GENCO SHIPPING AND TRADING LTD, $2.05, up 0.5 pct

** BALTIC TRADING LTD, $4.32, up 2.6 pct

The Baltic Exchange's main sea freight index, whichtracks rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, rose forthe fourth consecutive day as capesize rates pushed higher.

The overall index, which gauges the cost of shippingcommodities such as iron ore, cement, grain, coal andfertilisers, rose 1.01 percent.

** STERLITE INDUSTRIES (INDIA) LTD $5.01, down 7pct(1248 ET)

** ICICI BANK LTD, $29.66, down 5.7 pct

** HDFC BANK LTD, $30.54, down 3 pct

India's NSE Index fell 4 percent, its biggest dailydrop in almost two years, as blue chips were hit across theboard on fears U.S. stimulus tapering would trigger foreignselling and as the rupee hit a record low.

** SGOCO GROUP LTD, $2.88, up 8 pct (1243 ET)

** QIHOO 360 TECHNOLOGY CO LTD, $69.58, up 11 pct

** E-COMMERCE CHINA, $9.53, up 5 pct

China shares rebounded sharply late Friday morning, liftingHong Kong markets with a surprising surge that had tradersspeculating on whether the root might be government support or atrading error. The Shanghai Stock Exchange said after tradingstopped for the midday break that it is investigating the spike,while adding that the markets were "operating normally".

** PULTEGROUP INC, $16.22, up 2 pct (1351 ET)

** LENNAR CORP, $33.69, up 1.2 pct

** M/I HOMES INC, $20.83, up 3.7 pct

** WILLIAM LYON HOMES, $21.43, up 5.4 pct

Housing starts in July rose 5.9 percent to a seasonallyadjusted annual rate of 896,000 units, the Commerce Departmentsaid in a report. While that was a recovery from June's decline,it was below economists' forecasts for a 900,000-unit rate. InJuly, permits for future home construction jumped 2.7 percent to a 943,000-unit pace.

** JDS UNIPHASE CORP, $13.62, up 1.3 pct (1243 ET)

The network testing company said it priced a $575 millionoffering of its senior convertible notes at an initialconversion price of $18.83 per share, which represents a 40percent conversion premium to the stock's Thursday closing.

The stock was trading nearly two and a half times itsaverage 10-day volume.

** SAREPTA THERAPEUTICS INC, $33.97, up 6 pct (1342ET)

** PROSENSA HOLDING NV, $25.99, down 9 pct

Sarepta's shares opened 6.9 percent higher afterGlaxoSmithKline Plc reported disappointing clinical datafor a therapy that rivals Sarepta's experimental muscle disorderdrug. Glaxo is developing the drug in partnership with Dutchdrugmaker Prosensa.

Analysts at brokerage house Robert W. Baird said the datamight put Sarepta ahead of competition in the race to market thefirst drug to treat a rare, muscle-wasting disorder calledDuchenne muscular dystrophy.

** J.C. PENNEY CO INC, $13.48, down 2.5 pct (1342ET)

The retailer has entered into an agreement with former boardmember and largest shareholder Bill Ackman that paves the wayfor him to completely walk away from the company. Ackman, whosefirm Pershing Square Capital Management owns about 18 percent ofJ.C. Penney, resigned from the board earlier this week after twoyears of campaigning to transform the struggling departmentstore operator.

** NATIONAL TECHNICAL SYSTEMS, $22.83, up 38 pct(1341 ET)

The provider of testing and engineering services said LosAngeles-based private equity firm Aurora Capital Group wouldacquire the company for $267 million, or $23 per share.

This price represents a premium of 38 percent to NationalTechnical stock's Thursday closing. The company said it expectedthe merger to be completed by the end of 2013.

** METHES ENERGIES INTERNATIONAL LTD, $2.20, up 34pct (1241 ET)

The company, which provides services to biodiesel fuelproducers, secured a working capital facility of $1.5 millionfor its Sombra, Ontario biodiesel manufacturing plant. Thecompany said the capital, obtained through a Toronto lendingfirm, would enable it to buy more feedstock and increase output.

** MANNATECH INC, $19.30, up 21.6 pct (1209 ET)

The nutritional supplements, skin care and weight managementproduct maker's Director Jobe Larry on Thursday disclosed thathe bought 7,500 shares of the company at $15.50 each.

Mannatech on Wednesday announced the issuance of five newpatents for technologies related to its product portfolio.

** MANDALAY DIGITAL GROUP INC, $2.39, down 23 pct(1340 ET)

The mobile content distribution service provider priced its$12 million public offering at $2.48 per share, below thestock's close of $3.11 on Thursday on the Nasdaq.

** GOOD TIMES RESTAURANTS INC, $2.10, down 21.6 pct(1340 ET)

The quick service restaurant operator said it priced apublic offering of 2.2 million shares at $2.50 per share,together with warrants to purchase 2.2 million shares at $2.75per share and additional warrants to purchase 1.1 million sharesat $2.50 per share.

** AMARIN CORP PLC, $6.11, up 5 pct (1237 ET)

The drugmaker's shares rose after the company made apresentation at a Canaccord Genuity conference on Thursday.Option Strategist cited a report in Briefing.com that said thecompany might have discussed its heart drug Vascepa andGlaxoSmithKline's competing Lovaza.

About 4 million shares of the company changed hands. Optionsvolume on the stock is heavier than usual as well with 20,000calls and 3,625 puts traded thus far.

** INTEROIL CORP, $70.80, down 4.4 pct (1338 ET)

The company and ExxonMobil Corp remain in talks tojointly develop InterOil's Elk and Antelope natural gas fieldsin Papua New Guinea, InterOil said after a website reportednegotiations had ended without an agreement. InterOil's sharesfell as much as 12 percent following the report in PNG IndustryNews.

** DTS INC, $20.43, down 13 pct (1337 ET)

The company, which specializes in surround sound for DVDplayers, forecast full-year revenue below analysts' estimates,citing product delays, slowdown in its home-theater-in-a-boxsystems and Blu-ray players businesses. The company also expectslower royalty recoveries.

** E-HOUSE CHINA HOLDINGS LTD, $6.59, up 4 pct (1337ET)

The China-based real estate services company reportedsecond-quarter results that beat analysts' estimates. Thecompany also forecast higher-than-expected full-year revenue of$630 million. Analysts on average were expecting $594.8 million,according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

** PIXELWORKS INC, $3.88, down 9 pct (1336 ET)

The digital display chip maker said it would sell 2.6million of its shares at $3.50 each as part of a previouslyannounced public offering.

The offering was priced below the stock's Thursday closingof $4.25.

** UNIVERSAL TRUCKLOAD SERVICES INC, $23.75, down 6pct (1336 ET)

The trucking services provider priced its public offering of1 million shares at $23.00 per share, which represents adiscount of 9 percent to the stock's Thursdayclose.

** TASER INTERNATIONAL INC, $10.12, up 3 pct (1332ET)

The stun gun maker's shares continued their rally after thecompany said on Wednesday that its on-officer camera systemshave been adopted by the police in Arizona and Dallas/FortWorth. Taser expects to record revenue from the sale of thedevices in the current quarter ending September. Its stock hasgained about 20 percent since Tuesday's close.

** PANDORA MEDIA INC, $21.05, up 6 pct (1332 ET)

Brokerage Goldman Sachs raised its rating on the Internetradio company's stock to "buy" from "neutral", according toTheflyonthewall.com.

** MICROVISION INC, $2.08, up 4.5 pct (1332 ET)

The company, which provides ultra-miniature displaytechnology for mobile phones and laptops, said its technology isbeing used by Japanese audio equipment maker Pioneer Corp for a new car navigation device.

** GAIN CAPITAL HOLDINGS INC, $7.41, down 3.8 pct(1331 ET)

The online forex trader's July retail over-the-countertrading volumes fell 8.5 percent from June to $141.7 billionwhile total institutional trading volumes declined about 4percent to $352 billion.

** SEMTECH CORP, $29.82, up 3.5 pct (1225 ET)

Brokerage RBC Capital Markets initiated coverage on thechipmaker's stock with an "outperform" rating and a $40 pricetarget. "Semtech is a best-inbreed analog company positioned forgrowth as its solutions service the need to drive higherbandwidth demands," RBC analyst Doug Freedman wrote in a note.

Freedman also said that Semtech's revenue decline fromSamsung Electronics Co Ltd's Galaxy phones, forwhich Semtech is a supplier, "are offset by strength atChina-based OEMs (original equipment manufacturers)".

** FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR INTERNATIONAL INC,$12.03, up 3.7 pct (1330 ET)

Brokerage Morgan Stanley initiated coverage on thechipmaker's stock with an "overweight" rating and a $15 pricetarget as it believes the company's shift from computing andconsumer into industrial, wireless, and autos has helped driveimprovement in its gross margins.

** GREEN MOUNTAIN COFFEE ROASTERS INC, $76.18, up 3pct (1410 ET)

The coffee company will return to being a component of theNASDAQ-100 Index on Aug. 22, replacing Life TechnologiesCorp, the Nasdaq OMX Group said.

** ALCOA INC, $8.08, down 1 pct (1326 ET)

Brokerage BofA Merrill Lynch cut its rating on the largestU.S. aluminum producer's stock to "underperform" from "neutral",according to Theflyonthewall.com.

Alcoa said late on Wednesday that it is temporarily cuttingproduction at its aluminum smelters in Brazil, and wouldpermanently shut down part of its operations in Massena, NewYork.

** SONY CORP, $20.03, up 1 pct (1325 ET)

** VIACOM INC, $78.69, up 0.6 pct

Sony is close to striking a deal to secure content frommedia company Viacom for a new Internet-based TV service, theWall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

** POWERSECURE INTERNATIONAL INC, $15.54, down 8pct (1325 ET)

The maker of electric utility products said late on Thursdaythat it planned to sell $44 million shares of its common stockthrough a public offering.

** ASPEN TECHNOLOGY INC, $34.65, up 9 pct (1324 ET)

The company, which provides supply chain management softwareto the manufacturing industry, posted fourth-quarter results wayabove analysts' estimates due to higher demand for itssubscription software offering. Brokerage Benchmark Co hasraised its price target on the stock to $38 from $35.

** JOS. A. BANK CLOTHIERS INC, $41.40, down 6 pct(1324 ET)

The men's clothing retailer estimated second-quarter profitbelow analysts' expectations as its promotions and marketingcampaigns failed to attract shoppers.

The company said it expects profit of 49 to 53 cents pershare in the quarter ended Aug. 3. Analysts on an average wereexpecting profit of 68 cents per share, according to ThomsonReuters I/B/E/S.

** NORDSTROM INC, $57.21, down 3.6 pct (1324 ET)

The luxury department store chain on Thursday reportedlower-than-expected second-quarter revenue as its same-storesales slipped, prompting it to lower its full-year sales andprofit forecast.

** APPLIED MATERIALS, $15.67, up 2 pct (1323 ET)

At least three brokerages raised their price targets on thechip gear maker's stock, saying they expect orders to improvefrom customers after the current quarter. "Applied Materialsindicated that orders are expected to increase sequentially inthe January quarter, implying that the October (current) quarteris the trough for orders," RBC Capital Markets analysts said ina note.

Applied Materials said on Thursday it expects foundrycustomers to hold back spending in the current quarter as theyswitch to making smaller chips.

** BHP BILLITON, $67.52, down 0.8 pct (1322 ET)

The top global miner said U.S. authorities have laid outgrounds for possible enforcement action against it for corruptpractices, stepping up a four-year probe linked partly to its2008 Olympics sponsorship. The company has been underinvestigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission and theDepartment of Justice since 2009, mainly over explorationactivities that had been terminated and its hospitality at theBeijing Olympic Games.

** FORD MOTOR CO, $16.32, down 0.7 pct (1320 ET)

Ford will lower the advertised fuel economy ratings on itsC-Max hybrid by up to 7 miles per gallon, the company said onThursday, following complaints from consumers and industryexperts that the model's actual mileage fell short of claims.

** BOEING CO, $103.27, up 0.5 pct (1319 ET)

The aircraft maker said it raised the list prices onThursday for most of its family of commercial jetliners by about1.6 percent, compared with 2012 levels, far less than the 5.5percent increase the company made last year. The increases arebased on data compiled by the U.S. labor department, and largelyreflect the state of the U.S. economy rather than the company'songoing efforts to increase its profit margins.

Boeing has traced the incorrectly assembled engine fireextinguishers on 787 Dreamliners to the manufacturing of bottlesat a supplier's facility while saying there were no risks toflight safety, the Wall Street Journal reported.

** TESORO CORP, $48.73, down 1.2 pct (1319 ET)

IN BRIEF: GSK's Jemperli approved in UK for endometrial cancer

GSK PLC - London-based pharmaceutical company - On Monday, announces that the UK Medicines & Health Products Regulatory Agency has authorised a new indication for Jemperli, also known as dostarlimab. The drug is used as a treatment for some types of endometrial cancer and an be used to treat patients that have a tumour abnormality called mismatch repair deficient/microsatellite instability-high when the cancer is at an advanced stage when first diagnosed or has returned after previous treatment. It is now authorised to be used together with chemotherapy to slow the progression of these cancers. GSK says it is the first medicine licensed as first line treatment for primary advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer.
