NEW YORK, Jan 11 (Reuters) - A former director at BarclaysPlc was sentenced on Wednesday to five months in a U.S.prison for repeatedly tipping off a friend who worked as aplumber to impending mergers underway at the bank so that thefriend could engage in insider trading.
Steven McClatchey, 58, was also ordered by U.S. DistrictJudge Katherine Polk Failla to pay a $10,000 fine and jointlywith the plumber forfeit $76,000 after pleading guilty in Julyto conspiracy and securities fraud charges. (Reporting by Nate Raymond in New York; Editing by JonathanOatis)
