The Lonely World of a Trader

Some of the best profits I have made have been on short-term trades; 30%, 40%, and 50% in just a day or two. The thing is I have never posted on the chat forums for these shares. It’s not that a trader knows little about the stock. In fact, if it’s a stock that they trade on a regular basis, they may know everything there is to know inside and out. The point is what can they add to the debate when they plan to be out of it in a few hours or, rather, what point is there in adding to the debate? It means for a Trader it can be a lonely environment compared to an Investor. As an Investor, you are usually frequently on the chat forums, reading views, sharing views, and building up a rapport with other like-minded investors. I have been asked many times ‘Are you an Investor or Trader?’ For me, I am both. In fairness, most profits have come from trading, but then again it would be a lonely environment if I was exclusively a Trader.
