True, even for those paying 39% tax on dividends - though they would have probably B&B'ed the stock to turn the dividend into a capital gain. For me, the whole point of filling up at the £7+ level was to play the arbitrage game between dividends and CGT but the SP performance has been a big bonus.

Not that there isn't also very good money to be made trading here too given the swings in the share price in late-May. I managed to pick up a "free" 5% dividend from topping up when the SP retreated close to £3 - a price that now looks ridiculously cheap.

Seems to be solid on way to £4 +. Good decision to load up for spec dividend last month and hold

Another slice of profit taken earlier today (nice little return of 14% from late-May) when a limit order that I set yesterday hit 370p. Thanks to the dividend, I make more in CGT relief that I made from the trade.

Now I am back to being a little more ambivalent with the SP movement. Perhaps a few gems over the weekend from Donald can help.

Millions of share purchases declared after close of trading. Could something be afoot?

Can anybody reading this explain or have an opinion on what has happened. total shares bought today = 10,373,198 no. total shares sold today = 159,009no. Result = shares up 5 pence. BONKERS !!!!!!!!
