moving up but the m/c just totally fails to recognise the potential here.
Heavily invested here and firmly believed in the company, sadly I sold my holding at a loss as I needed the funds elsewhere. It appears the company is now on a solid footing and the main hurdle (margins) has been addressed allowing the company to finally make some decent profits. Hopefully for you guys still here it’s on its way at long last
Looking at a small profit for the full year and real benefits in 2022. They've cut away the dead wood and the EV of the business is only £5mill. I expect the sp to rerate over the next year. Watch presentation on Friday
Coming? Over half mc in cash? Not a pump... just curious about opinions!
https://tbivision.com/2021/09/23/former-shine-tv-boss-tanya-shaw-lands-at-zinc-media-as-tv-md/
Zinc have appointed a new MD - Tanya Shaw, Former MD of Shine TV - where she served as MD for six years, overseeing factual programmes including MasterChef and its various spin-offs and helping to grow traveling brands such as Hunted and The Island With Bear Grylls into returning series.
Prior to Shine TV, she was commissioning editor of features and formats at the BBC, where some of her key commissions included The Great Interior Design Challenge, Mary Berry Cooks and Rick Stein’s India.
Shaw also worked as a commissioning editor of specialist factual at Channel 4, ordering shows including Alone in the Wild, Tsunami: Caught on Camera and Elephant: Life After Death.
Zinc are at an interesting place when it comes to TV Viewing - Factual TV is becoming more popular - exciting times ahead.
Anybody still looking at this one? If you watch the last presentation summary it illustrates that Zinc is valued at less than a third of other similar media companies based on revenue. This should recover further over the next year and the sp has the capacity to reach 180-200p in that time. Great management-great potential. Sells showing today are in fact buys.
Just had a quick look to see what Zinc are up to - https://www.zincmedia.com/latest-news/
It looks encouraging, the launch of a new production label – Supercollider – led by award-winning Director Mike Christie looks very exciting. Also here - https://www.televisual.com/news/zinc-media-launches-supercollider-with-mike-christie/
Also - Tern Television, has announced a push to further diversify in unscripted with the appointment of David Marshall as Head of Entertainment. David will genre-bend the brand. Innovative escapism, new game formats and noisy disrupters are what channels crave and we can create. It’s time to shine in entertainment. (branching out from documentaries here) David was Series Producer of the popular BBC One quiz show Impossible and launched Tern’s studio-based dating format Love Song. He has also worked as a key development producer at STV, IWC and BBC Studios, created new formats for Sky, Channel 4 and BBC Three and worked on several of the world’s biggest brands including X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and Big Brother. If Zinc & Tern can create a show like one of those the sp may take off !
The company is making progress on its as wider transformation plan revealed in 2019, which was designed to fuel growth in factual and fact ent programming.
It looks like Zinc are busy building a company & looks like a growth story, i think they are steering in the right direction.
Management need more time to turn the ship around but Herald have been long term large holders and remain so. I'm optimistic that profitability is close and current sp doesn't reflect that.
Not sure I agree Sbuild, Zinc comes across as quite a stable little company and seems to be weathering Covid impacts. Have the sells been that noticeable, SP seems only a tiny bit down on its batting average...?
The lower this drops the worse the results are trust me. Insider trading lifestyle company has been for years. Just share dilution keeping them operating
This means the results won’t be as good as they wanted you can tell there’s always big selling a few weeks before results. Should be investigated rest been happening for years .
Have only just seen this -" Zinc scores debut Amazon Audible order"
https://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/indies/zinc-scores-amazon-audible-order/5156294.article
Chief executive Mark Browning said
“I am particularly pleased to see Amazon become a new client with the group through their Audible division, as this opens up a slate of new opportunities in audio and television,” he added.
More good news
Specialist factual producer Blakeway Productions (part of Zinc Media) has scored two new history commissions from Channel 5.

The Secret life of Sewage - follows up on award winning "The secret life of Landfill"

Agree. They've finally got a decent management team and producing good , marketable programmes. Strong balance sheet. Buys showing as sells here-one is mine!
Listened to a presentation on investormeetcompany earlier today, really impressed. MB articulates the story really well , this has been poorly run for many many years and actions taken over the last year have cut cost base and done sensible things to ensure profitability once normal activity returns. Not easy to call the bottom on a recovery type stock but demand should pick up fairly swiftly particularly as demand is there. I will buy regularly as funds available dyor
On cusp of profitability but not quantified yet. EV is presently only £4mill. I keep topping up because I believe the company is turning the corner.
Never seems to be any mention of profits with this company. Todays update seems the usual turnover story.
Cash position is healthy but they just raised most of that from shareholders with a big dilution.
Could be seen as maybe the bottom perhaps but past history is not very inspiring.
Interesting aspect and one I had forgotten about. They've certainly moved to stem losses and have big ambitions but Covid situation will hold things back. I've learned to be (very) patient here and think I will do a bit more averaging don.
It looks like schoolsworld.tv is provided by zinc communicate ltd. schoolsWorld.tv has been sponsored in providing the Website by Zinc Media Group Plc. Has anyone had a look at this website - is this zincs ZOOM moment ??? Surely this is a great tool for parents trying to educate there children at home. Does this need publicising, there must advertising revenue to be earned here !!
Does anyone know if Zinc Media still own the content to Teachers TV, http://www.schoolsworld.tv/about-us
Following the dismantling of Teachers TV, Ten Alps plc (the company who ran Teachers TV for the Department for Education), launched SchoolsWorld continuing to allow teachers and educational professionals free access to more than 3,500 original Teachers TV videos, plus a wealth of supporting materials.
Now that we are in lockdown this asset must surely be of value & have some earning potential !! (hopefully Zinc Media do still own the content)
Hi Silverknight, yes maybe. I just thought lots of ideas may help, someone must have a winner, after all the nation is watching Gogglebox - People I know admit to watching it !! But why ? Is it a production to be proud of ? Why do people watch other people sitting in there houses watching TV & making fun of themselves or others on TV -- Why ?? There must be someone with an interesting idea that can attract people away from Gogglebox !! ( send them to Mark Browning) maybe that would even work - A TV show that people get a chance to give an idea for a Tv Show Uhm) sort of like "Mark L Fix It".
Seems like the formula for a lot of TV is Gogglebox a modern version of "The Royal Family" - not that i watched that either but huge numbers did. A family sitting on a sofa watching TV !!
Ideas to Mark Browning at Zinc Media Please.
Looks like you have been in this one almost as long as me (I bought Ten Alps 11 years ago). You have a point but Zinc doesn't seem too keen on the dumbed down shows you mention. They are proud of the (mainly) quality content that can be sold internationally. We have quality management now, a strong balance sheet and I am fairly confident of prospects going forward
Has anyone got any opinions, ideas, thoughts, etc that would make a highly viewable TV series. It seems shows like Bake off, Gogglebox, Big brother, love island, Blind date, I am a celebrity etc are watched by large numbers -- But why ??
Are those productions really good ? Is there a common formula ? It seems the public like watching a tv screen that is turned on & following the antics of a number of participants that often then become famous because of what ??///???
Surely Zinc Media need to look around & get on the bandwagon !
I would like to ask anyone who has a good idea for getting on that bandwagon & producing a production that the public are going to watch in high numbers, to get on the phone, email, to Mark Browning & let him know.
Ask your friends, do a survey, ask your children, ask your children to ask there friends, put a suggestion box in your office, workplace, ask on social media, Think, Now is your chance to come up with that TV SHOW you always thought of and that can now become reality !!
Just imagine ..... ( '..' ) It works and Zinc Media pull it off, your idea is produced & becomes a winner, at the end as those production credits roll down, and there you are "created by................................... << with your name"
This is a company that your idea may just make a difference to !!! Think of the possibilities & the SP !!
Good Luck & thanks for reading - "Your Company Needs You" :)
