Zinc have appointed a new MD - Tanya Shaw, Former MD of Shine TV - where she served as MD for six years, overseeing factual programmes including MasterChef and its various spin-offs and helping to grow traveling brands such as Hunted and The Island With Bear Grylls into returning series.
Prior to Shine TV, she was commissioning editor of features and formats at the BBC, where some of her key commissions included The Great Interior Design Challenge, Mary Berry Cooks and Rick Stein’s India.
Shaw also worked as a commissioning editor of specialist factual at Channel 4, ordering shows including Alone in the Wild, Tsunami: Caught on Camera and Elephant: Life After Death.
Zinc are at an interesting place when it comes to TV Viewing - Factual TV is becoming more popular - exciting times ahead.
Just had a quick look to see what Zinc are up to - https://www.zincmedia.com/latest-news/
It looks encouraging, the launch of a new production label – Supercollider – led by award-winning Director Mike Christie looks very exciting. Also here - https://www.televisual.com/news/zinc-media-launches-supercollider-with-mike-christie/
Also - Tern Television, has announced a push to further diversify in unscripted with the appointment of David Marshall as Head of Entertainment. David will genre-bend the brand. Innovative escapism, new game formats and noisy disrupters are what channels crave and we can create. It’s time to shine in entertainment. (branching out from documentaries here) David was Series Producer of the popular BBC One quiz show Impossible and launched Tern’s studio-based dating format Love Song. He has also worked as a key development producer at STV, IWC and BBC Studios, created new formats for Sky, Channel 4 and BBC Three and worked on several of the world’s biggest brands including X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and Big Brother. If Zinc & Tern can create a show like one of those the sp may take off !
The company is making progress on its as wider transformation plan revealed in 2019, which was designed to fuel growth in factual and fact ent programming.
It looks like Zinc are busy building a company & looks like a growth story, i think they are steering in the right direction.

It looks like schoolsworld.tv is provided by zinc communicate ltd. schoolsWorld.tv has been sponsored in providing the Website by Zinc Media Group Plc. Has anyone had a look at this website - is this zincs ZOOM moment ??? Surely this is a great tool for parents trying to educate there children at home. Does this need publicising, there must advertising revenue to be earned here !!
Does anyone know if Zinc Media still own the content to Teachers TV, http://www.schoolsworld.tv/about-us
Following the dismantling of Teachers TV, Ten Alps plc (the company who ran Teachers TV for the Department for Education), launched SchoolsWorld continuing to allow teachers and educational professionals free access to more than 3,500 original Teachers TV videos, plus a wealth of supporting materials.
Now that we are in lockdown this asset must surely be of value & have some earning potential !! (hopefully Zinc Media do still own the content)
Hi Silverknight, yes maybe. I just thought lots of ideas may help, someone must have a winner, after all the nation is watching Gogglebox - People I know admit to watching it !! But why ? Is it a production to be proud of ? Why do people watch other people sitting in there houses watching TV & making fun of themselves or others on TV -- Why ?? There must be someone with an interesting idea that can attract people away from Gogglebox !! ( send them to Mark Browning) maybe that would even work - A TV show that people get a chance to give an idea for a Tv Show Uhm) sort of like "Mark L Fix It".
Seems like the formula for a lot of TV is Gogglebox a modern version of "The Royal Family" - not that i watched that either but huge numbers did. A family sitting on a sofa watching TV !!
Ideas to Mark Browning at Zinc Media Please.
Has anyone got any opinions, ideas, thoughts, etc that would make a highly viewable TV series. It seems shows like Bake off, Gogglebox, Big brother, love island, Blind date, I am a celebrity etc are watched by large numbers -- But why ??
Are those productions really good ? Is there a common formula ? It seems the public like watching a tv screen that is turned on & following the antics of a number of participants that often then become famous because of what ??///???
Surely Zinc Media need to look around & get on the bandwagon !
I would like to ask anyone who has a good idea for getting on that bandwagon & producing a production that the public are going to watch in high numbers, to get on the phone, email, to Mark Browning & let him know.
Ask your friends, do a survey, ask your children, ask your children to ask there friends, put a suggestion box in your office, workplace, ask on social media, Think, Now is your chance to come up with that TV SHOW you always thought of and that can now become reality !!
Just imagine ..... ( '..' ) It works and Zinc Media pull it off, your idea is produced & becomes a winner, at the end as those production credits roll down, and there you are "created by................................... << with your name"
This is a company that your idea may just make a difference to !!! Think of the possibilities & the SP !!
Good Luck & thanks for reading - "Your Company Needs You" :)
Hi Sbuild, Its frustrating allright, & yes David Galan did'nt really have the right knowledge to grow Zinc in this industry, surely the current CEO must be given a chance, His history in growing ITNproductions proved he has ability. Why join Zinc when he was doing so well, surely he has seen Zinc's potential, He must have a vision & contacts to achieve results, maybe deals are going on behind the scenes, (lets hope) Some new CEO's often let the sp fall a bit, Its going to be of more benefit to have a lower sp when they start negotiating share options.
Hi Guys, Sounds like Sausageface needs some help here - well have a look here http://zincmedia.com/about-us/television/
there's lots going on - there is also Zincs Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/zincmediagroupplc/
& also the twitter page https://twitter.com/zinc_media?lang=en
Also Tern are casting for a new Dating Show "Are you single?Love to sing?" which sounds like a winner - could this be the new "Blind date & Britains got Talent, Love Island etc" - rolled into one show, sounds like a winning formula - are we heading for "Bake Off" sorry i meant "Take Off" if this, single new show takes off as did "Bake Off , Blind Date & Britains Got Talent" we are soon going to be at Shenners party.
So back to you Sausageface, have a look at Blakeway, ReefTV, Films Of Record, Brook Lapping & Tern TV. I am glad you asked the question as i was just checking the chat here & saw your question so had a quick look at what was going on & finding this info about Tern Casting for a new "Dating & Singing" show really made me think yes that should have mass market appeal. Good Luck all & if you research a bit you may find a potential "Love Productions" which was bought by Sky after having a lot of success with Bake Off , Is it now Zincs turn ???

Now that the past years results are out, This new Team can maybe start to reveal their plans, (i would expect them to start buying into the company soon & then Things may start to get interesting, i feel quite positive - content is going to be in demand, from all the new On-demand TV Channels + all the existing broadcasters, Zinc have proved that they can produce quality productions & with this new experienced TV production management team doors should start to open, they have contacts & have shown what they can do at ITN productions.
Good Luck all - patience may pay off for the brave !!
It's interesting what you say BMR regarding sp performance. The board felt they could just buy up other production companies & grow revenues. It may work for a restaurant group like pizza express or The Casual Dining Group. We all hoped that was the answer, Zinc bought Reef, & that was basically Richard Farnborough & his team, then Richard Farnborough left !! Was reef Richard Farnborough? Zinc have done well with Tern (so let's hope Zinc keep Tern happy). It looks like Mark Browning has a different approach, he created the team at ITNP & was successful - they grew by producing content. I would expect Mark to build a team at Zinc to produce more & more content & for Zinc to become the go to company for the broadcasters.
Has taken a massive massive RISK joining Zinc Media, Why leave ITNP - http://www.itnproductions.co.uk/television/productions/
Mark built ITNP, he certainly knows something about TV Productions, unlike our last CEO who joined Zinc as a number cruncher !! (David did his best but he was an accountant ) So WHY WHY WHY has Mark left ITNP & joined Zinc ??? I really believe Mark has a Vision & looks at Zinc as the Vehicle to carry out that vision . I have just listened to the media show "The Story of Netflix with Ted Sarandos" https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m00051kw -interesting listening !! Mark Browning will have some amazing contacts, this reminds me of the dotcom days for TV. Content is going to be in demand from companies like Netflix & Zinc are well placed to benefit with Mark Browning at the wheel "The Future so Bright - Ive got to wear shades" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NZKLZmz4kA
Is it gossip & fear that has pushed the SP to where it is ?? who knows, But give Mark a chance .
The valuation is getting crazy, zinc have £20m + in revenue, assets worth many x sp, cash in the bank, new ceo with proven track record & longevity in last role growing Itnp. Tern was valued at £5.45m when it joined zinc - (must be worth more now).
Someone sells a few thousand pounds worth of shares & the sp drops 10 % it does not add up, it really feels like the price is being pushed down deliberately, what is the logic ?
Documentaries getting more popular & more people are choosing what to watch, I just read that Kylie Minogue & her husband "enjoy watching documentaries" on netflix. It seems whoever i talk to is watching something different, they are choosing what to watch, if they watch anything on whatever Screen they use. Documentaries are so educational, people are really getting into them. I feel Zinc is well placed to capitalise on demand for content & Mark Browning understands this, He grew ITNP by creating more & more content, not by buying production companies, He actually builds them. I expect he has very good connections & at the moment will be getting his head around what has been going on at Zinc !! Mark is taking over from David Galan whose Linked in page shows quite a varied history !! Mark Browning on the other hand has just spent 9 years building a TV Production company from scratch & growing it 40% year on year by utilising all of its tools - He understands TV Production & also managing people, it really sounds like he can role up his sleeves & pitch in where necessary as he knows whats going on !!
As to "How Much Lower" - well not very many shares are being traded & i am sure Herald & other large holders who make up the majority will hold & give Mark Browning a chance to use his natural abilities to grow this company organically, I certainly will & will be looking forward to those champagne supernovas at Shenners 3p party, or was that changed to 2.5p.
Two interesting questions to end with are "Why would Mark Browning leave ITNP which he had spent 9 years growing, & move to Zinc Media ??? Where does Mark see opportunity ??? well he has left ITNP so that only leaves Zinc. !!
Exactly BMR if the impact Richard Farnborough's departure had, then Mark Browning should have a very large impact to Zinc considering what he proved at ITNP.
The sp made the same moves last year, I guess there is ££'s to be made by betting on its direction, as its not really that hard to influence that at the moment, its not rocket science, load up a few weeks before the interims, bet on its price dropping on the interims news day, which it has, it only takes a few sales & the sp drops, Today is one of those
days when lots of ££ is made at the bookies, its just so easy.
Of course thats just an opinion, I am holding on here, as you have to be quick & have the nerve, I am still looking forward to the Shenners 2.5p party.
I will now start studying how spread betting works !!
Good luck all
