The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring financial educator and author Jared Dillian has been released. Listen here.
More Good News, good find Amina, The Landmark 2 PART SERIES (if that's 2 x 1 hour its good fees) will air later this year, Stephen Hawking is probably traveling the world with his team & production crew in search of answers already, which means Zinc will already have received the commissioning fees & this is all good news for this years revenue, it keeps getting better, well done.
this May, if so I am thinking it should look very good & could be the news we are waiting for ! The first half year achieved a profit in the usually slower half of the year & an order book of 77% of forcasted revenues. Management expected profitability to accelerate in the traditionally busier second half of the year,( which we are well into) particularly in the TV division, which would expect to earn the majority of its profits in the second half, & with the news of Reefs new commission in production of the 24 x 60 minute episodes of "Village of The Year" for channel 4 its looking very positive. Plus the digital communications division looks to be doing well, & the recent BMW group education stuff looks good & finally the Macclesfield publishing division is making good profits & being a stand alone company is ding well. So, Is the SP & the market cap waiting a re-rating ? if so, well done to all who have held & good luck to all.
at these levels, I have come to the conclusion that some investors may need to unload at just the wrong moment for there investments, due to some unexpected situation within there own worlds, bad luck or bad timing on there own behalf, in some far off land can be unfortunate !! I think of the words of Warren Buffet in these situations " Be Greedy............"
I called Broadwalk to try to get some ideas, what was interesting was that Charlie Cottam, founder of Broadwalk Asset Management answered my call directly, i was amazed, just who I wanted to speak to the main man, I thought I would at least have a secretary or PA to speak to first, but no, Charlie Cottam was speaking to me & so I explained I was a shareholder of Zinc Media & could not understand why Broadwalk were selling down its holding especially when broadwalk had invested at the fundraising on 13/07/15 at 2p per share & broadwalk had previously held zero shares, & just as Zinc Media turn the corner & start to produce good news. Charlie was very polite, I expected to be cut off, but no I must say that Charlie was polite & said "I am sorry I can't talk about our investments, but that he had seen it mentioned on the bulletin boards". That was that I couldn't get any further, so we said our goodbyes. Who Knows whats going on, I wonder if maybe its an internal Broadwalk issue !
That's all, Sbuild, who knows what's really going on, it would be interesting to know broadwalks reasons ! I think they need to be tackled over there decisions, if they carried on with that strategy they would soon be out of capitol, but maybe that doesn't matter to them as they have collected there fees for managing "other peoples money". What reasons can any one think of to depart just as the SP start to rise & optimism returned ? Are they trying to keep the SP from rising ? why on earth would they do that?
Tonight - mon 24th April 9pm-10pm BBC ONE 1 hour production, TRUMPS FIRST 100 DAYS presented by JEREMY PAXMAN, reporting on Donald Trumps presidency so far, (Book Lapping Production) Tues 25th April for 15 weeks from 9pm-10pm 1 hour production SELLING HOUSES with AMANDA LAMB on MORE 4 (Reef Production) Also, Every Day from 24th April at 4.30pm on BBC ONE - Brand New series of "PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS" (Reef Production) There is plenty going on at Zinc - good productions on major channels at peek times, It proves how well respected Zinc are as a production company, they are going from strength to strength as a company, this years results will have a major impact on the share price. It may have gone a bit quiet on the news front, but that does not distract from the fact, that Zinc Media are producing major productions for major TV channels, I seriously believe that who ever has been responsible for Broadwalks recent decisions & activity does not have a clue what they have been doing - fishy Shenanigan's or an interns mistake, why on earth would they wait until the company has turned around ? it does not add up. It just presents a great buying opportunity for all those waiting in the wings. Or could a takeover or Management buy out be possible, that's exactly what they did at Tangent communications when former TV mogul Michael Green who founded Carlton TV (& Johnathan Goodwins father in Law) backed a bid to take Tangent private http://www.printweek.com/print-week/news/1155905/bid-launched-to-take-tangent-private Michael Greens Nephews were on the board that time. Who knows just a thought, but it really makes one wonder.... Good luck to all who are holding
There doesn't seem to be any Logic, Unless Broadwalk are in with a potential bidder - Broadwalk keep the price down for the bid, who knows, doesn't make a lot of sense to sit on an investment through some tough times, then once the turnaround happens to unload.
Sbuil, regarding your thoughts on takeover potential, yes there is that potential, but also, maybe Zinc Media may just Grow into a MAJOR producer in TV production, & as you mention, Jonathan Goodwin & his track record & contacts, which includes his father in law Michael Green - CARLTON communications supremo, who founded Carlton which eventually merged with Granada & who has a good knowledge of the TV industry plus good contacts, & a good understanding of the direction the TV industry is heading, which must be good news for Zinc, "Many Heads" There are a lot of influential people involved with Zinc Media, behind the scenes. Plus Jonathan Goodwins previous role as MD of the Wireless Group which grew into quite a large company, so the potential here is great.
Plus the fact that - The Broadcasters (BBC, C4 etc) are concentrating on Broadcasting & will be doing less & less producing themselves as it is more cost effective to use specialist Independent producers - SUCH AS ZINC MEDIA, as costs can be controlled more efficiently, which is only good news for Zinc Media
Brook Lapping embarking on one hour documentary for Channel 4 about eating disorders - film will be sensitive in nature |& look at experience of sufferers trying to get treatment & families who have lost a loved one, plus state of provision across the country. All systems are GO.
& Another positive RNS - all good news. Plus there are quite a lot of zinc productions out recently. Recent Films of Record documentary for SKY ARTS - Gary Kemp on Bowie Guitarist Mick Ronson - traces story of Ronson & Bowies close bonds.(4th April) Panorama on mon10th April was Films of Record investigation into double agent scappaticci, IRA's chief spy catcher. Also on Mon10th April saw 3rd series of "French Collection" begin on channel 4 & will air every day at 4pm. Blakeway Norths production of "kicked out from care" available to download from 6th April on BBC3. & On 13th & 14th April at 11.30am on Radio 4 - "Printing a Nation" how the printing press made modern India, a Blakeway production. PLUS "The Murder Detectives", 3 part dissection of a murder investigation now showing on NETFLIX IN US
and beyond, With each RNS confidence returns & the sp resumes the UPTREND which started back in 2016 when the sp hit the low during the shakeout. Each uptrend has lasted longer than the previous uptrend & the highs reached have been higher than the previous highs reached before the profit takers moved in. Now that the sp is in a new UPTREND I would say that this should continue well into May & June & would expect the previous high to be way below the next SP high, with such confidence building with each RNS. Well done to all who had the same confidence & patience + belief. Zinc have credibility & are well respected which is being shown by those wanting to use zinc to carry out productions + those that want to work with zinc. Good luck all
Yes Brilliant news, looks certain to be popular, "Village of the Year 2017" with Penelope kieth will get the whole country talking & 24 x 60 minute series is a good commission, Also it looks like it could be a series that is run every year as they have put the year in the title, will be great for current years figures as Tv production is paid on commissioning & in stages, So together with "Getting the Builders In" that's two great commissions, Zinc are now certain to break forecasts, still 3 months until the end of June. RNS from now on should only be good news.
December is in the distance, & I would say a lot will be happening between now & then. The recent pullback seems to have settled, The Fibonacci retracement ratio was spot on & the 1p level was about the 61.8% marker,(often 50% to 61.8% could be the bottom after profit taking, betting off the 61.8% retracement has lower risk than betting off the 50% line) . The Trend has got going again even in the past week when investors have used up ISA's. Regarding the value of Zinc - If sky can pay 2.69 x turnover for Love productions, valueing Love at £35m, when Loves Turnover was £13m in 2014, Surely Zinc Media are way way undervalued at present. Zincs market cap of £6.66m for a company with forcasted turnover of £20m to £30m is laughable, Reef is worth more than that on its own & Reefs new production "getting the Builders In" looks very promising for like the Bake Off was. Its not only a property show, its also builders competing like the competing in Bake off, gets Viewers ! Zinc Media are established & well respected by BBC, C4, C5 etc, with a Talented Management Team Plus a high Calibre Board of Directors. . Also the Combined TV, film and music industry grew almost 11% in second half of 2016, https://www.theguardian.com/business/2017/mar/04/creative-industry-fills-uk-coffers-tv-film-music The New ISA year is starting so there should be more money about over the coming weeks,& I would say the profit takers will still be watching the Zinc SP !! Happy Zincing
Is today, All the Best to Nicholas Taylor & Good Luck. It was stated in the RNS that today 3rd April would be the day Nicholas starts, so maybe there is a Board meeting . It looks like a good team & I feel that Nicholas Taylor is going to have the time in & out of the board room to apply his many talents, Together with Jonnie Goodwin (one of the most influential investors in London) it should not be too long before we hear some news of acquisitions etc. I feel that some folks were a bit disgruntled when they heard Luke Johnson had stepped down from the board, but lets look at the reality of the situation, Luke Johnson is a director of about 60 companies (yes 60) plus he sits on other boards plus charities, & which means he is a very very busy individual - did he have the time for the next phase ( checking out any potential acquisitions, due diligence etc.) well who knows, just some thoughts. Luke Johnson was involved with turning Zinc Media around & it looks like it worked, He is still involved & one of the largest shareholders, so Zinc is gaining another member really, maybe he was involved in recruiting Nicholas Taylor who specialises in what is now the next stage - (check out Hoptonhill.com). I am sure that with Johnie Goodwin one of the Top 5 uk investment bankers at heart of the biggest media deals & one of the most influential investors in London Zinc Media has a bright future.
With the appointment of Nicholas Taylor, the Board is now again at full strength, it looks like he has vast experience & rigorous analytical approach to management + expert knowledge of Due diligence & Mergers & Acquisitions, & considering Jonnie Goodwins reputation "as being at the heart of the biggest media deals" https://www.theguardian.com/media/2011/feb/14/investment-bankers-biggest-media-deals It looks like a solid board & exciting times ahead for zinc media & its shareholders
I agree with you ,& had a look at Nicholas Taylor's experience & who he is involved with & has been involved with, It certainly looks like the board have made a good choice - The turnaround is certainly getting going & lots of good news to look forward to. Now that all the divisions within Zinc are profitable & pretty much self managing, the board can now look at growth & acquisitions, - Corporate storytelling is a high growth market, there has been a surge in demand from companies wanting to stream personal messages to build trust in there companies, communications revenues expected to surge.
