Yes I did sell some, 5k worth back in the summer, wish I'd sold the lot. Very difficult to watch this sink and sink - I just don't think the strategy matches the original premise of the trust......to produce 10% annual return. The stocks Neil has selected are so much more volatile than I expected.
$47.0554* 4.8746 -9.39% prothena still falling like a stone in usa...
it sure as heck ain't looking pretty for anyone who bought in at the outset & just held long! they might stumble across a unicorn, but if woodie sticks with big percentages in a few stocks, means that wpct not holding that many different lottery tickets.
Muddy Waters highlights Wedbush downgrade of Prothena Muddy Waters Research just tweeted, "$PRTA down big today following Wedbush downgrade after R&D Day. Wedbush cites 1-year delay in NEOD001 development. In our June report, we said we believe clinical trials do not show efficacy." The stock in morning trading is down 7% to $48.16. just bought another. aggressive price action out there. shorter's games, perhaps, and some cracks in lth morale, (but of course also possible some leaks re a prothena failure?) that "patient" word may matter. poor old woodie. he's had a bad year.
are you a seller yet, renewable?
i suppose so. but he's the one who has picked & promoted them. if they're dud, he's to blame.
86.5p - what a disgrace!!
it does bother me that woodie is running the trust with such concentration in single stocks. if works, lovely, of course, but many factors outwith his sight.
bought another small smidge. woodford must be sweating about prothena by now, lol.
sorry, posted in error.
purp
Having held a main chunk since launch (with a small trading pot on the side) i'm now out of this. Fed up sums it up quite well! Woodford's Equity Income fund and High Income fund also struggling in recent times- can't help but feel there are better options out there at the moment. Best of luck to any that remain holding here
(maybe he's about to have his andrew bolton moment?)
anyone who had put a big chunk of money in at the very start and has just sat on it 'patiently' since would be entitled to feel quite fed up with woodie.
(he sure does up the risk level by having such concentrated holdings in his 'portfolio' funds.)
yes, interesting read. suppose it depends whether you believe that the hedgies are correct in knowing for "certain" that the 2b trial will fail? i'm not exactly an expert in that AL field, lol! so i'm not in a position to judge them on any technical arguments about the underlying science of it. for sure, woodie has put big percentage in, & he keeps making some pretty poor calls in recent years. hence as i've noted before, would be pretty unwise for any ordinary pi to have too big a % in this one.
Hi Spiikeyj, have you read the Citywire article "hedge fund attacks Woodford Patient's top holding". It seemed quite compelling to me.
and bought a smidge. und zu weiter.
and sold a smidge.
This has risen well in the last couple of days. still below the issue price though.
Nice to see this out of the doldrums (sub 90p) - the discount closing is helpful but we need the NAV to rise - come on Neil!!!
Seems to be changing here. Discount between price and NAV starting to close. It would be nice to see a premium
Good to trade though....has been around 87-1 for a year now....those who bought at ipo must be frustrated?
wpct price fluctuations have nowt at all to do with the progress, or otherwise, of the underlying assets... so i'm making some money just buying and selling in relation to that discount to NAV as it widens & converges. i'm not too proud to scalp a little, to buy some coffees.
