Not tomorrow according todays RNS but sometime this week
good news coming tomorrow?
Nearly sold today. Said I'd put my stop @ £3.50, so really I should be out. Think this is the 3rd time it's come down to test this level then rebound since the yearly high. If it fails to hold Monday then I'm going to sell.
Probably because people have ordered booze online as pubs have been closed, so the future looks bright. They also have very low debt so are "safe" during these difficult economic times.
This stock has done extremely well so far this year, acording to share price. I am very curious to see how the final results look.
But I do note that in the RNS on 9 Apr, they expected the full year's revenue to be £200m. That is less than half of their annual revenue for the last 4 years. Given that reduction, why the optimism and increase in share price?
I bought a small stake in WINE this week. Looks like they've done very well during the lockdown, owing to the virus and absence of pubs. Full year earnings will be published on 23rd June.
Good time to build a bigger position whilst the markets dipped?
214.50 when I first posted. Now 413.00. More to come?
You are right. He has steadily been building a position as have other funds. I would hold it. The C19 situation has been a real catalyst in the US for naked. It's customer acquisition strategy delivers a 4X return. If it were to cut marketing spend it already generates profit. This could show real growth. It is also a good model as it custs out the middlemen meaning everyone is a winner. The producer, naked and the consumer. Amazon are also precluded from selling wine.
I googled Punch Card Management who have been building a stake in the business. It is a relatively small fund. However, the guy behind it has a very strong investment track record behind him and tends to be a long term investor and according to ther article doesn’t buy many stocks. I was tempted to sell as now close to break even after sitting in losses for a while but will now hold for a while longer.
Bristol Cupid Naked don’t own Majestic stores anymore - they are now online Sales distribution only. Majestic retail store business was brought buy a PE firm. Naked is essentially a business that gives wine enthusiasts direct access to vineyards and cuts out all the middlemen distributors. The risk is that the upfront cash spent to attract new customers means that if customers don’t remain for a few years to repay acquisition cost then the business model doesn’t work. The RNS today shows that there are a lot more people switching to online model at present due to COVID 19. There are two US investors stake building at present which is pushing up share price. Wine enthusiasts Include a lot of wealthier people who will be less impacted by COVID 19.
I am not an investor here yet but will be doing some research over the next few days due to some amazing service in these uncertain times - I ordered some red wine today for the first time @ 14.50 today & a guy dropped it off on his way home @ 18.00 - absolutely brilliant service! We all know you cannot get a major supermarket to deliver for 4 weeks min - maybe Majestic should look at adding other products to their range?
Lots of buying going on here.
Some interesting investors building significant holdings in this.
Disappearing from the high street, well the street. So even less business rates for the councils.Losses must be must be mounting up for councils. When will they realise people and business are sick of giving them money for nothing. Probably the only move left for majestic, loose the name close the shops and go online. Going to take a long time to generate the sort of cash they used to and are moving into an already crowded area. The supermarkets are already well established there, and the Wine society are probably the oldest established with the best service for quality, price, knowledge, variety, delivery . A bit like belonging to a building society but with a reason to live!
Lol. Good one on several levels. Majestic are survivors as has been proved in the past. Name changes have been more successful for company shares on the way up where they might want to better reflect recent acquisitions in a growing company. On the way down it smacks of wanting to hide the passed or revamp the image. Not often money well spent. I didn't realise they had spent 20 million trying to buy new customers. M&S have just done that with their purchase of Ocado. That hasn't gone down too well. Retail is a very hard place to be right now. There are many more ways to get hold of non supermarket wine now that when majestic set out. Their one real bonus is their tastings, but not always available when I've popped in. With old established competitors like the Wine Society (light years ahead of the game) Tony Laithwaites and a host of others online its not going to be as easy as they have had it previously
As a loyal Naked Wines customer and fan of their business model, I am more thinking, "bang goes the neighbourhood". I am particularly suspicious of the ploughing £20m into acquiring customers ... instead of in bringing on small winegrowers, which is what they are supposed to be about, and what has made them successful. I know nothing about the parent company (Majestic) but it sounds to me like bad news all round.
even that isn't looking to good. Name changes are always a bit desperate: 'Naked', I suppose they know there are already companies withe word naked in the title. Naked nuts being one, not exactly the dogs bollocks
a top Catholic university in the USA has faith in Majestic....
The best aspect for in today’s results was the strong free cash flow and debt reduction. Second decline in number and scale of adjusting items to get to adjusted profit as acquisition impacts run down meaning cleaner profit and loss account where statutory profit is also growing. Company gives a lot of commentary on what they are doing and what has worked and what hasn’t. I will continue to hold and run profit.
Easy in hindsight
WINE Majestic Wine......last update rather bullish and see what resulted on the chart. Report on the 9th next week. last update........https://www.investegate.co.uk/majestic-wine-plc--wine-/rns/half-year-results/201711230700042874X/ Not a big fan of this company but Ill take a chance this time. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DSsLRvoXkAAE579.jpg
