Brokers vary between 1330p and 2200p in the last few days. Good to see increase on going ex dividend though.
Weir: mine, oil mine: On Wednesday the market heard Weir, the U.K.-listed mining equipment and oil services company, report that business is not good and will not improve soon. The interpretation differed: Weir’s shares bounced 6%. Hearing is believing, however — or should be. The worst has not passed for mining equipment, which represents about half of Weir’s operating profits. Weir’s orders (adjusting for its purchase of Trio last year) have fallen again, by 13%. So far, the high-margin replacement parts and service business has not suffered. Revenues there were up 3%. That growth will probably not continue. As less equipment is ordered and put into use, the amount of maintenance needed will slip over time. So far, this lagged effect has yet to hit Weir. But it has enough other problems.
Sir Jim is an independent director here and the Principal of Strathclyde uni. I thought I saw you on the tni bb this year? held that and itv both had meteoric rises. Lost my dad at 6 and then my daughter lost her dad at 5. The Jesuits have a saying - give me the boy till he's 7 and I'll show you the man. LOL as if any louts could bother me in the slightest. Goodnight.
Didn't think it was good but probably better than feared so bought in hoping for improvement and the divi. Couldn't believe my luck when it started rising quickly. Tried to sell and broker had tech problems but eventually got it and more than first expected so quite happy . Probably will turn out like HL. for me lol. You have the divi in the bag - well done. Not worth watching Corrie these days. I liked that big Jim McDonald lol a fine man who deserved a knighthood.
Only me here to see it as well lol cheerio.
Well whodda thunk as one of the sellers on a commercial rival bb would no doubt have said. Ex divi tomorrow. That Coronation Street guy gets everywhere lol.
stock on the move , here in late trading . nice 4 % move
QB, I'm not surprised that Weir's spokesperson 'declined to reply'. The group has a number of aces up its sleeve right now, and the timing is right. Some outfit like GM or NOV might try taking a run at them, but I doubt they'd be able to meet the price required by the shareholders. But if it happens, it would have to be a VERY BIG takeover, at which point we're quids in!
Thanks for the link £25 would be nice!
I was pleased to get in on the recent drop, their after-sales side is growing well and is good recurring revenue that bodes well for the future
Hi, deadhead! Seems we're into the same kind of stuff. This one's a 'positive hold' for me, long-term. Weir has got a sweet deal going with MTB engines, for unitised europe-road -legal fraccing pumps. It will happen, and anyone not onboard right now will regret it later.
Me thinks this has further to fall !!!!!!
Pokerchips A nice cautious Scottish statement imo
"Engineer Weir Group Plc said it expected a significant reduction in revenue on a constant currency basis, as well as lower operating margins, in 2015." Down almost 10% so far. Clearly seemed over bought to me
Forgot to add that i think it rose 3% after me buying, but then the dreaded drop, where i got out quickly. Hands up, i mis-read this in Sept.
Sure did, if i post on a BB then my dosh id on.. You already mentioned whats happening on Wed & imo still continues to look good.
Did you buy these in September?
Final results next wed 25th
Wir SP could realistically fall to a new 12 month low - sentiment still pretty weak until the spring I think
Weir has invested heavily in the US shale fracking sector, does anyone know how much they have invested? please
IMO a tad early but i'm looking to get in as this is a solid company with good prospects of recovery once oil finds it's own level. My guess (no better than yours) is about 1620.
Bought a first tranche here today at 1682p
Its a good company and will eventually go back over £27 but it could be 2016, with the oil price dragging down any company associated with it its not surprising to see where its at today, the shorters have had a good day. You should not take notice of brokers they just want you to buy share of the week, had one last week trying to persuade me to buy Phoenix at around £8.30 and Rose they could 'get me in' at 1.79p but only if I bought that day, I really have to wonder what do they take me for . I know the GE story has been around a long time but Weir would be a good fit for their ambitions in the oil service sector, if the price continues to drop you can bet there will be predators looking at Weir.
