''Once this dogshxt breaks .70 I can close my PUT position with a juicy profit, I know it’s going to get there, just want this deal done 69.80 gives me 42k ''
that means at the current 78p, that is about a £40,000 loss (so far)
that squeeze on your ballax must be getting more excruciating.
strange how a doomster on every board that he visits disappears when there is a bit of an upward movement in share price
How about good news about the dividend & we could be back at £1 again? All I keep hearing is bad news & we be 50p ? £1 at Xmas for me ho ho ho
danieln. i suspect that kay was joking, but i could point out that as h comes before n in the alphabet perhaps i should be asked 1st! but i think us daniels should stick together h or n so please don't feel like 2nd best? as for my 1st thoughts on robert grindle, they were, who the **** is robert grindle, & do i really care? after checking though i gather he is a top telco equity expert so if he wants the job, that is ok by me, but i doubt he does. mole might be available?!
Its not well covered atm but if they drop it again, the SP will collapse upsetting major investors. So, my guess is that they will keep it as is until revenues from the price hikes, job cuts and synergies from sales and mergers start to come through (Three is the big one next year). So, its probably safe, for a while at least.
How safe is the Vodafone dividend (say out of 10) across the 1,2 and 3 year timescale? My gut feel is 100% safe for one year, then 70%, then 30% but interested in wider views
They seem to be leading in this area https://www.reuters.com/technology/vodafone-create-open-ran-chip-sets-with-intel-2023-10-09/
Vodafone were first to coin the term open RAN in 2014. So let's see if they will keep it proprietary or if they will be looking at creating a new line of business by licensing the chip tech.
The telco system providers are rather screwed though lol Ericsson only recently threw in the towel and hinted to commit to open RAN. Samsung and Nokia are already in on it.
Good morning Kay
"danielh your thoughts first"
Are we in some form of virtual queue system here whereby I can go to the pub for a couple of bevvies whilst waiting on a notification as to when my turn offering thoughts on Robert Grindle becomes available.....?
Once over 100p, this should gather momentum like Rolls Royce #RR. and then 1.20/140p imo. And Dividends for those in now will look like cherry on top! DYOR
1.20 and with a focused and able ceo, we should get there fairly quickly.
Can i get peoples thought on the great robert grindle. views appreciated. danielh your thoughts first.
Up nearly 4% stateside tonight. Hopefully that augurs well for tomorrow and beyond. With the recent Spanish news and possible beginnings of a market rally, a mini rerate might finally be on the cards! 🤞
Dan, Mole maybe right in the long term perhaps, but for me personally as i'm already invested here, i want the dividend to stay and the sp to increase as soon as possible before i'm too old to enjoy it, and of course if the sp increases the dividend yield will be less a win win
if only it was that easy though
good luck mate
Dave ,,,If the Microsoft: Activision tie-up is anything to go on, the UK might object and then be pushed into acceptance by the weight of other pressures. This is a good first step in another major part of the long-overdue VOD rationalisation process.
Ever heard of cost of capital? Cost of capital is made up (cost of debt x % debt) + (cost of equity x % equity)
Even in today's interest rate environment cost of debt is materialy cheaper than the cost of equity. So a 0 geared company would then be looking at double digits cost of capital, and our return on capital is single digits. Not to mention the tax shield that debt gives. So no, zero debt isn't the way.
EU antitrust regulators see no issues with Vodafone Hutchison mobile tie – up
14:13
BRUSSELS, Nov 2 (Reuters) – Vodafone and CK Hutchison's $19 billion mobile merger in Britain does not pose any competition concerns to EU antitrust regulators, according to a European Commission filing.
The companies sought approval from the EU competition enforcer for their bid to create the UK's biggest mobile operator on Oct. 30.
The Commission, which set a Dec. 6 deadline for its decision, is reviewing the deal under its simplified procedure.
It uses this procedures for mergers which are not likely to raise competition concerns and where clearance is a foregone conclusion.
The deal in contrast faces intense scrutiny from the UK's Competition and Markets Authority because it will reduce the number of networks from four to three, a threshold which regulators worry could reduce competition.

Mole. You say "Badly managed divs & buybacks are the devils work" Perhaps the vod B.O.D. should all be excommunicated?
Mole. Why do you think there are no debt free teleco's in the world? Telco's need gearing to survive, that's why. You odviously think you know better than all the telco's in world. Bee in the bonnet comes to mind. How can you possible assume the sp would be£3 if vod had never paid a divi, more bees in your bonet? & how can you assume vod charging lower tarrifs would be good for vods profits?. Vod needs to reduce it's deb't gradually, in a controlled way.
