I also agree George, plenty of optimism being published/brandished about and much less realism...
I've been positive about TUI before and I like the business but... the wider economic picture that is forming from data releases is not looking good at all. Growth figs being too small, with job losses accelerating and shrinking vacancies simultaneously. The times are good for those retired with a triple lock and zero mortgage to pay but outside from those in that social group the financial pain being felt is very real indeed. Tui and travel benefitted greatly from the post pandemic bounce back and whilst I see that lasting throughout the summer of 2024 because of forward bookings I think as those drop off there may be significant trouble at just the moment Tui and other travel firms will be needing support and real growth.
I agree George, optimism is good, hope is good but reality is that the SP is exactly where it was 1 year ago.
Obviously a lot has changed in the meantime, but I would not pop any prosecco yet.
I've seen things with this SP that are hard to forget (LTH here like iParsnip and Spammy, and I'm still 49% under).
Having spent many happy hours watching TUI amongst others - this seems very out of character - there must be some very large buys going on behind the scenes. Clearly its something quite big ? Bid ?
Let's not get carried here
Isn't the original sp value the equivalent of 63p??
Hi all,
Well, think today in particular has taken all of us by a 'very pleasant surprise eh'!!
Have been wondering like many why the momentum, because it feels like momentum is driving the SP right now.
Two ideas come to mind - outside of any Easter announcement coming our way hopefully tomorrow or Thursday - one, is whether there's some short covering starting to occur - as mentioned yesterday, the two short sellers have certainly lowered their share amounts in recent days and indeed one has removed it's starting price too - all of which might contribute to momentum - oh and I've included today's short chart as per the link below - isn't it a 'shame' that Qube has already lost 5.5 Million!! No idea ref Gladstone, as they've removed their starting SP, so you have to think probably even more!
The second thought, which I know another poster has mentioned this morning, is about an MM or ii starting to build or continuing to build a fairly substantial position in our shares - of course with both of these, we won't know until they have to post an rns 'by law', so may be a few days away.
So finally, I realise that many LTH's are still suffering with this stock and I can only hope that the SP continues onwards and upwards
GLA and at least enjoy the few days of blue on our screen and hopefully many more to come

PS this is potentially dream timing. Mike’s been pointing out rightly about a likely boost from Easter numbers. So one would expect both that and MDAX listing boosts to come shortly. If those rises are applied to a price that’s already been breaking out, things could look very good indeed. Fair price is for certain over £10, so “trimming” at these current levels as some have suggested strikes me as rather premature.
Well I predicted ages ago that TUI would break over 630 when sentiment turned and FTSE250 finally broke out from bearish trend. I said a while back that I’d expect TUI’s clearing of 630 to coincide with the FTSE250 clearing 19720. Well, that happened 3 days ago and has been flirting either side of it. I’ll chalk this up as a rare one I’ve got right. Could move extremely fast from here. Well done to everyone who held long. Day trading over the last few days will have been virtually an impossibility.
Wonder if theyve hooked the big investor - they were keen to drag a big player on board after the Russian debacle.
Whats happening ? Any insight. Criminally undervalued I agree but whats caused this sudden stirring.
#TUI Is moving as I thought it would when I dropped the chart back in early March. So far so good as the SP begins to move up & exploit the upper market structure. https://x.com/SwazersC/status/1772555827057971343?s=20 https://www.tradingview.com/x/AWYuDnd9/
Yeah, interesting times for people who kept the faith. I took up both RIs so far to the fullest to try to average down, but didn’t have spare cash to average further. I started buying TUI thinking it’d be a post pandemic recovery play, but I won’t lie - I’ve wondered if it was a bad decision, and the second RI was a real pause for thought. Even now I’m still 30% down, but (at least partly because I didn’t push any more capital into it) I don’t need to extract anything anytime soon.
Here’s hoping we can stay above £6 (and the equivalent EUR when the time comes) and make our way up from here.
£5 seems so last year now :)
Got to be divvy incoming news......
636 to buy now
There is no reason not to expect the update about easter to be positive....my pilot buddy says tui flights have been full as can be for last 18 months - he is flying his full 900 hours per year and cant do any more.
Still no news?
Wow that was quick.
Strong again the momentum play.
Thanks for your insight, Mike.
I wonder if the market already knows that the trading update would be positive, hence today’s rise.
Let’s wait and see, fingers crossed.
Hi both,
Just to share a little nugget.
If you look at the last 3 days or so, our shares in Germany have outperformed us here in the UK - so for today, the German SP increase was just over 4%; whilst us here in the UK just short of 3%.
What I find interesting is that whilst the UK airlines have been hit in the last few days, it looks like the arbitrage effect between here and Germany, is looking like it's playing to our advantage at long last. So again, last Friday, the German SP was up all day, albeit modestly; whilst ours moved about a little and then ultimately broke through in to the pm.
So just thought I'd share and let's hope it continues, either way eh!
So expect Easter trading news from tomorrow, but most likely Thursday and if we keep in the range above £5.80, we should break through that £6.30 upper level once and for all
GLA
PS - Still look at the two short sellers against our stock from time to time and interestingly, they've collectively lowered their shorts from 1.6% about a week ago to 1.49% today - another decent sign for our stock
Thanks Donalb! Freta news but it was published on 20 March! There must be something else!
Dathrilla, maybe this is helping a bit !
"Tui is expanding its cooperation with Wizz Air"

Will trim around 630p+ although £7 could be here b4 you know it.
Any news I missed today? Is this in anticipation of the Easter announcement?
Lets go TUI!
Nice move up over the last few weeks, plenty more to come.
