Nice to see our star on the ascendancy again, hope it is not a brief orbit like one month ago.
John Weston, Torotrak's newly appointed Chairman said: "Torotrak's technology has matured at a critical time. Vehicle manufacturers must deliver ever more fuel-efficient vehicles, and Torotrak has developed a range of practical, cost effective and patented solutions to help achieve this. Legislative pressure means that maintaining the status quo in automotive technology is no longer an option. This is all resulting in increasing opportunities for Torotrak. With Torotrak's high quality customer base, strong cash balances and engaged industrial partners, I see exciting opportunities opening up for Torotrak and its shareholders".
Financial highlights ● Positive operating cash flow of £0.7 million (2010: £2.5 million outflow) ● Cash balance of £8.8 million (31 March 2011: £8.3 million; 30 September 2010: £10.0 million) ● Revenue reduced by £1.2 million to £0.8 million (2010: £2.0 million) reflecting timing of licence fees ● Operating costs reduced by £0.8 million as a result of a re-focused operating structure, with higher levels of prototype engineering activity now undertaken by licensees rather than Torotrak
on the frankfurt moter show site honda also say thay have powertrain, your take on this any one, kind regards
nothing on trk site but it was on bloomberg that volvo said it now had power train, kind regards,
There's nothing new on Torotrak's site since 9/9/11 press release on flywheel hybrid. This SP has been contrary to ftse movements lately as seems to be the case today. iii has a lively following of this share, take a look there.
volvo has said power train is in its new model, does this mean torotrak is invoved. advice please
4x£25k plus other big ones today. Good sp rise in past few days. Anyone know something? Could this share be a possible t/o at some point - e.g. by GKN?
Altium Securities initiates buy on Torotrak, target price 65p.
investment- auto-motives. Company focus-Torotrak-'Gearless Wonder' or 'Toothless Wonder' . Just read this, a review of this company's 13 year history and prospects. Well worth a read to refresh your memory as a long term holder. Has this had any effect on the SP? I wouldn't blame investors who bought earlier this year to take profits, I'm still for sticking it out and hoping for a little recovery before Fri close.
I am glad to see Torotrak doing much better, I still have a long way to go to hit the SP 0f 125 to break even from buying in many years ago. I wish everyone who has stuck with torotrak over the long years good luck. Fingers corssed everyone.
For a while I saw the spread down to .5p and the Bid price 60p. Despite large buys this morning (2 of 300k trade type, equalling the Chairman's recent buy, incidentally ) the SP seems to have levelled off now. I saw somewhere that a broker valued the company on it's present business at 62p which would bring it back to my break even point after all the years! I intend to hold as I fell there can only be more good news soon.
Torotrak chief executive Dick Elsy said: "We sense real momentum in the rapidly growing markets for efficiency-enhancing devices to reduce CO2 emissions. The industry needs cost-effective hybrid solutions and using a Torotrak variable drive transmission in conjunction with a mechanical flywheel has demonstrated the capability for double-digit improvements in fuel economy." In a statement issued by Volvo Car Corporation (VCC) Derek Crabb, Vice President VCC Powertrain Engineering, said: "If the tests and technical development go as planned, we expect cars with flywheel technology to reach the showrooms within a few years. Flywheel technology is relatively cheap. It can be used in a much larger volume of our cars than top-of-the-line technology such as the plug-in hybrid. This means that it has potential to play a major role in our CO2-cutting 'DRIVe Towards Zero' strategy." Torotrak's compact CVT, part of its portfolio of proven traction drive technologies, has emerged as an effective transmission solution in flywheel-based mechanical hybrid systems. Compared to conventional electric hybrid systems, mechanical flywheel hybrids reduce the number of inefficient conversions during the recovery and re-use of braking energy. Instead of converting kinetic energy into electricity to be stored in an expensive battery pack, energy is stored in a high-speed flywheel with power transfer controlled by a compact CVT. Mechanical hybrids can also be used to boost the low-end torque of downsized engines and can provide immediate torque for vehicles with stop-start strategies.
Torotrak technology supports Volvo-led flywheel hybrid project High-efficiency variable transmission offers cost-effective solution for hybrids Leyland, UK, 31 May 2011, Torotrak plc (LSE: TRK), the global innovator in gearless traction drive technology for vehicle CO2 reduction, confirms that its continuously variable transmission (CVT) technology forms part of the Volvo Car Corporation's evaluation of flywheel technology as announced by them on 26 May 2011. Volvo's project, part-funded by the Swedish Energy Agency, will bring together Torotrak's variable drive technology and Flybrid Systems (UK) flywheel technology, working with SKF of Sweden and Volvo Powertrain. In addition to the mechanical hybrid projects that Torotrak is already working on as announced on 25 May 2011, this will provide another powerful opportunity to demonstrate the contribution that mechanical hybrids can make to reduce emissions and improve fuel economy, considerably more cost effectively than electrical hybrid solutions.

John Weston, new Chairman, to be appointed 1st June, 'has a track record of value creation for investors'. (From Torotrak website) . Sounds good to me!
Torotrak jumps after £8m agreement Date: Wednesday 13 Apr 2011 LONDON (ShareCast) - Vehicle transmission group Torotrak saw shares climb 17% after signing an £8m licensing and engineering agreement with US-based peer and shareholder Allison Transmission. “This supports the immediate start of a production intent design as part of Allison's multi stage programme, supported by Torotrak, developing the technology to the intended end position where the transmission is production ready,” the company said. The firm will also receive per unit royalties based on a percentage of the manufacturer value of each transmission produced. Allison has now paid Torotrak £17.6m in licence and engineering fees over the last three years. Allison is Torotrak’s largest shareholder with a 9% stake.

but is alive and well and living in Leyland. Promise of further license payments boost Torotrak share price. It will be the royalty payments per unit manufactured that will push this company forward. News of a deal with a higher volume car manufacturer would do the trick, still, 15% this morning is most welcome.
Allison extend contract with torotrak ...............................more dosh and more important lot more exposure for torotrak technology........................i think lots more to come...............GLA.........................
Take your point, should have read back a bit further before posting - slap on wrist!! Will quite happily take a small re-trace from last week's highs, as long as we don't go all the way back to the low 20's. ATB.
They don't seem to like your handle!! Am surprised they allowed you to register with those four letters, so well done for getting one past the administrators lol!! ATB.
time to get in now? Just seen gkn promoted in the Scotsman paper/Digital Look. It occurred to me gkn might be interested in trk at some point being a heavy duty vehicle transmissions company.
