Can anyone confirm if the today's HSBC holding notification confirms them selling out or just an update to their current position / interest in STAR ENERGY ?
Thanks in advance
...I exited on Truss's fracking news so it was more luck than company performance. I see this as a low risk play on three fronts - energy security could drive a rethink on fracking, oil/gas rise on any uncertainty and geothermal transition. I suspect that if this was a sexy new geothermal upstart trying to self fund the valuation may be higher even though the cashflow risks would be significantly higher. Low risk with lots of potential at £11m Mcap!
Good value here IMO. I did nicely on Igas previously, but
Reckon sandgrove finally exhausting their selling - hopefully that is them done and the price should begin to rise again
A very weird trading pattern today!
Average Volume = 218,000
Volume Today = 3 million +
Worth a punt at this low price.

This is what they had to say....
"The Canadian bank thinks the progress made by Star in the UK and in Croatia was "substantial", and certainly not reflected in its recent market performance."

Analysts at Canaccord Genuity lowered their target price on exploration and production company Star Energy from 73.0p to 65.0p on Monday but stood by their 'buy' rating on the stock following recent updates.

This company needs to start paying dividends once short term debt has been repaid next year. Until then I see no prospect of a significant increase in price above current levels. It is not much more than a utility stock without fracking.
Good analysis of star energy

The case for geothermal;
China has long led the way in geothermal heating and cooling and will likely continue to do so, but there are hundreds of geothermal heating and cooling projects being developed in parallel and at different levels of scale all over Europe, North America, and South America. Standalone geothermal cooling has also started to catch attention, particularly with the new G2COOL project in Masdar City in UAE – another of the big announcements coming out of COP28.
Taking both into consideration, the geothermal sector has its own “triple up” goals of 48 GWe of capacity for the power sector and 520 GWt of capacity for the heating and cooling sector, as wonderfully summarized by the IGA.

Nice piece of news. Could be a fairly quick win to new revenue .

Sandgrove have been selling down - they don't want to hold for the geothermal, if i recall - their last holding statement was on 25th sept - they went down to 2.34% holding - so it is likely to be them still selling
Get rid of puppet prime minister Rick bring back Boris, yes he did make mistakes but he was a leader. He who hath never lied cast the first stone.
No logical explanation of why the shares have dropped. Fingers crossed things are looking up. Yes the massive peak was caused thro tory chaos of allowing shale production then removing it, but nothing since, apart from allowing more oil extraction and icreasing our dependency on gas from abroad!!!
