Submitted six questions for the discussion on Thursday. None of them were price sensitive, but they do reflect the key themes which appear here on a daily basis. It will be interesting to see if he addresses them.
Caldwell has the opportunity to prove he's not like our previous CEOs and that he's capable of providing us with a very clear sense of direction. Let's hope he doesn't waste it and resorts to the usual obfuscation and evasion. Now's the time to come clean and tell us which direction he's taking the company.
That's all very well addicknt, but surely not at the expense of giving our potential buyers or partners an advantage. SOLG's current position is a bit like a game of poker. Surely you not asking Scott to show his hand are you??
I think you'll have to accept that sometimes it's not sensible or possible to be as candid as you desire.
I guess the clearest sense of direction would be the outcome of the SR and I can assure you won't be getting that from him not without an RNS before hand.
Be more sensible and patient about your demands at this acute time in SOLG's history.
Fort, obviously not. However, the longer we remain in the dark, the longer this remains a tricky investment proposition.
You are right, we need an RNS in advance of the meeting, otherwise it runs the risk of simply being yet another burble-fest of just how great we are and what wonderful prospects we have. We've heard it a million times before and if that's what he has in mind, he'd be better off not holding the meeting.
Adic. I think you will find the direction Caldwell takes the company, is whatever direction mather tells him. It's pretty naive to think otherwise. Only a fool would disagree. It's mathers way, or the highway. And there in lays the problem we've had for Many years
DM, the interesting point about managing the current cash situation is the comment that we should expect a recommendation about funding before the end of H1. Clearly, we don't need any more 'lights on' cash, so what did that statement refer to? And as I've said before, funding is only a tool for delivering a strategy - so what's the strategy?
I predict that when there is no RNS and Thursday is as boring as expected, fort will claim this as cast iron evidence that a TO is imminent (!)
Rampers gonna ramp.
DM, I know what you mean. But it's the SR outcome that is really what we are all awaiting. That's where we'll get the main insight.... not through some investor meet non RNS hand stroking event.
PI's can be like little children that need constant reassurance, the odd sweetie or treat to keep them quiet. Meanwhile the investors with the real fire power and importance (being Chinese based or fund based) care not a jot for Ecuador politics, care not about little strokes of PR... they instead have eyes firmly on the assets and are ploughing millions and millions into their investments.
Retail investors are excitable, they watch stock prices daily... they often need a fix as many are gamblers or have those traits. It's unfortunate but II's are very different. And I'm afraid to say it, but SOLG management will do what they feel is strategically important to the business and not about making bored pi's feel better.
We've been told there is a new website due to be released and I can't believe that's just going to be a redesign of the content already up there. More likely that there is some strategy to be communicated across that medium likely with more multimedia or drone style video etc so we can all see the expanse of Alpala and other target info on regionals. Might be a prequel to the split of the business being exploration focused (part one) and then ENSA part deux!
Just a guess!
I don't want to sound negative, but a new website probably means just a new design and navigation. Now a new design may be more conducive to conveying information better, but if the point of the new website is that there is new relevant information for investors, all they need is an RNS, not a new website.
Quite possible... SOLG commission new website with few more bells and whistles. Input all the content that is broadly the same. Then in couple of months... SR comes out and new strategy revealed and website then gets redone to reflect all the new info??
Now that would be a waste of money imho. Why not just wait until the SR is completed and the launch with some fanfare on the new strategy along with nice sparkling new website which doesn't need updating (meaningfully) until SR plays out or sale / JV done etc etc.
What's the point of updating the website and releasing it end of this month if you know there's more significant step changes coming in a couple of months time eg Q3?
Suspect the website is a lot of nothing (just my hunch). They will update the staffing on there, and bring it up to date (current one looks tired). You don't plan the release of news around a new website, nor design a new website to deliver news that has to go out via RNS. So, if there is no RNS, this is a nothing to get excited about. Just vines for the rampers to swing between as they Tarzan their way through the forest of no actual news, making lots of noise and then hoping each of their false dawns is forgotten about in the mass quantity of rubbish they put out. Hey fort?
