The Cascabel project, located in the province of Imbabura, which is in the advanced exploration phase, has begun dialogues with authorities in the area to publicize the project. Thus, this week the mayor of the Ibarra canton, Álvaro Castillo, held a meeting with Luis Mario Sánchez, vice president of the SolGold company and his technical team.
According to a statement from said Municipality, the meetings aimed to “articulate actions to carry out projects that, through royalties, allow the local economy to be energized, with the creation of sources of employment for the population located in the area. of influence, in this way it will be guaranteed to improve the quality of life of the citizens of the Ibarra canton.”
These days there has been a very conflictive process in the Palo Quemado and Las Pampas sectors, which are located in the Sigchos canton of Cotopaxi, due to a mining consultation issue regarding the La Plata project. This Ibarra project is in another more advanced phase.
María Isabel Ayllón, a lawyer who is an expert in mining issues, explains what stage Cascabel is in and when it is time for citizens to consult:
This large-scale mining project is currently in an economic evaluation stage, to verify the technical and economic viability of the project.
This will lead you to establish a proposal to sign an exploitation contract with the State. It will be at that time that an environmental consultation process must be carried out in the area to obtain the environmental license.
According to Ayllón, the law is clear in indicating that environmental consultations are carried out when projects begin or when the phase is going to change. In this case, the new consultation corresponds due to the change in phase, since it would move to exploitation, which means the construction of the mine. Construction can take about five years.
The project already went through a first consultation or citizen participation process before 2008. She also explains that since it is an area where there is no indigenous population, the figure that must be applied is environmental consultation. Prior, free and informed consultation is applied when it comes to sectors inhabited mostly by indigenous people.
For its part, Cascabel confirmed a few weeks ago that the company SolGold, which is carrying out the project, will require an environmental impact study (EIA) that will be aligned with the best international practices applicable to the mining sector. “We are deeply committed to managing our carbon footprint and to the efficiency of renewable natural resources,” highlights Scott Caldwell, CEO of SolGold and president of SolGold Ecuador.
He also pointed out that innovative proposals will be integrated to care for the environment, and a diversification plan for renewable energy sources for the project, to be supplied by both the public sector and private enterprises.
Adikt if Ecuador can raid an embassy with special forces personnel. With complete contempt for international law.
What sort of picture do you think it paints for prospective investers in ecuador.
It appears that if they can break international law, in this unprecedented act.
How safe will any agreements be to safeguard investments.
And before you and the other clappers make a positive from it.
Research what just about every civilised country has to say about the complete disregard for the norm
Mrprt, interesting that you ask why I think everyone is a fantasists.
I actually don't think everyone is, just those who are.
came across this post of yours.
telling us you retired at 54 on the back of solg.
I will save you the embarrassment of copying the whole post,.
I remember you being ridiculed at the time.
interestingly, a few weeks later you tell us on several occasions how you've been in and out of solq
for years, but no mention of retirement.
does that answer your question
Spot on novice. I call this innumerate gullible generation of morons the “a month” brigade
As per WEF wet dream that we will own nothing and rent everything, they are conditioned to get used to what things cost them per month
From phones to electric cars this generation of morons are serfs to their asset owning overlords
Anyway, balls to them. We shall own an incredible asset here and there may be a short window Monday to load up at a discount
Seconded fat Jenny
Filtered SH eons ago. Another deramping kn#b jockey! Waste of space so don’t waste your time reading his posts . Just bin him where he belongs!
Stack you are merely a product of today’s immediate society and once again you reaffirm your own position as a 2wat. 🤷♂️
And I mine, novice. You're a delightfully simple creature. Not blessed with any brains, but fiercely loyal to a band of people who find you a useful idiot, and seemingly untroubled by the world you inhabit. Don't change, you innocent little poppet. Keep posting, there's a good little ramper 🙂
Damned close. Top up
Must be close to some good news of some sort. I can't see them running the cash pile so low without a plan.
Exciting times hopefully.
I rest my case stackhigh 😉
Indeed mrprt we as in 95% of regular posters here are extremely positive bar the obvious odious exceptions do what I do and entertain them it gives them a feeling of self worth which they are clearly missing In their real life… I don’t believe us Uber positive members or the extremely negative posters will or have made-one jot of difference to the stock price here, the simple fact is that these things in my experience take time but fortunately I believe we are on the home run in
55p someday
"No immediate replacement for NM illustrates that the company knows they are likely to receive to a takeover offer soon."
Another swing an a miss, bbg. Around the same time you were telling people not to sell out at 28p, as 60p was a dead cert. Sound familiar?
I only pick on bbg because, unlike someone like novice, he doesn't realise he's thick. Novice is a simple tool who keeps being handed his a*** but he knows he is too thick to mix it with more intelligent posters. There are probably worse culprits but it seems important that people realise how thick red/fort/novice/slug/bbg are. They'll be here next year, chirping about an imminent sale, just like 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023...
Mrprt. Why do you read them?
BBG I see you got your knickers in a twist earlier this morning I was actually being post sardonic and am as positive as you re the future prospects here
55p someday soon
Yeah they’re different.
Off book means not matched automatically on SETS (eg you want to buy 10k at 9.1p and I want to sell 10k at 9.1p, there’s a match we both get filled and it’s reported once as an AT)
I’d like me you go through a broker and a get a quote from that intermediary, they then go onto market to see what they can get, add a slice on and if we say yes it’s an off book trade)
But in both cases the location of these trades is XLON
These blocks were made off exchange (location=XOFF)
So we’re talking about two different fields here; trade type and location
'84 , In my original post I said they were OB. I was wondering if there was a different type of OB, but it seems not.
As far as my understanding is concerned these trades were off-market negotiated between two parties, just like all of the recent large trades we've seen. The really interesting question is who are the two parties?
'84 , thanks.
The trades were reported the same day. As I've said previously, the Stock Exchange did record them as late trades on Thursday.
Indeed Quady, could be private transactions reported late though the rules are they’re meant to report same day
Addicknt off book are the trades on SETS marked OB as opposed to AT, these would ordinarily involve market makers/brokers. They are still reported automatically on SETS
Off exchange means not on SETS. We do get a few drifting in after hours quite often
BBG on sharepad at least the blocks slotted into the 4th April at around 1930. Think qs has the same data engine so you should see them there
I am not sure that Nick M can be credited with finding Cascabel , think that was Malcolm Norris but for sure he did put Solgold on the map and was instrumental in backing and raising finance when needed .. also in his defense I think he has been involved in many a company that he has helped develop , finance and then sell and whilst the interests in Ecuador are by far the biggest and most complex I think the change of guard came about because he is a bit of a stubborn old g*t and was not going to be bamboozled by the bigger guys ..but hey ho all history now and hopefully something positive soon
Don't tell needabrain
'84, is there a difference between what I said about them being off-book and your comment?
Thank you slug, so not traded on a main exchange.
That's interesting.
They're not showing on l2 via quotestream
