Hope you're right Trek
Trek. Agree "bandwagon journalism". The truth & facts will out over the next few weeks. I have been invested in Synairgen for many years and have therefore followed their glide path very closely. In a perverse kind of way, what is currently happening has been a perfect storm for Synairgen. This is their time (or not), although the balance of probabilities is weighted towards them based on the detailed clinical work they have conducted in this very specific area of healthcare over the last 10 years.
Of course everybody, president, prime minister, company, country is striving to find any kind of solution. Many will fall by the wayside, Synairgen really shouldn't.
Thats the issue, they don't buy, they steal!
@wetdream "Didn’t think China was very supportive of IP."
Yes, the Chinese violation of IP at an everyday level is legendary; I have personal experience of it at a tech company I used to work for.
But I don't think they'd flaunt the rules in something as public as this. After all, if they really want this IP then I'm sure they can afford to buy it!
Didn’t think China was very supportive of IP.
Henners007 “It takes years to get to that stage." Yes, precisely and Synairgen have been working on this for almost 10 years. No one else is going to be able to shoe horn this in without official clinical trials. Notwithstanding current predicament.”
That’s is my point so what is ‘The Star’ on about, posted by xyz, and what has Dr Fish been doing for 30 years and not registered a proper trial like SNG did for p2 copd/asthma. Someone has articulated the difference in interferon b and A which is helpful and I get China are a law unto their own and may be using interferon A but Canada? Surely they know better, it reeks of bandwagon journalism, well at least I hope!
Trek
Thanks LP.
Ted, Cuban/china collab entirely unrelated to what SNG are doing.
I take solace in it as it is a tried and tested treatment for Covid 19. Or at least according to reports.
SGD27 thanks for that, helps me distinguish between them.
For info, here is a post by nobbygnome on that other BB on 04/04/20 :

>> the patient investor Ok to try to answer some of your questions about interferons. All the interferons are related proteins but have distinctly different sequences. For example beta has only 31% identity with the family of alphas. The alphas and beta all bind to the same receptor proteins so clearly that is the part of the molecules where the identity is very similar. However, the fact that they all bind to the same receptor doesn't mean they all have the same action. That is because they are produced by different cells and so the temporal and spatial appearance of the molecules is not the same. Beta is produced by fibroblasts whereas the alphas are produced by white blood cells. There are lots of fibroblasts in the lung which is why beta interferon is most likely to be the important family member in anti viral responses in the lung. But overall I must stress the immune system is extremely complex and it is difficult to assign absolute rules. There is an awful lot of redundancy and overlap which is why multiple approaches have a chance of working. However, I stand by my assertion that beta interferon is arguably the best interferon for delivery into the lungs.
"
Is that better than interferon beta?
Punit101421 - A pointless observation that helps no one. Choose a figure between £1 per share and £10 + per share . Yes it really is that wide. The best guesstimate and perhaps the fairest because there is a calculation behind it is the Finncap assessment.
Cuban is alpha interferon, different product
The Chines/Cuban product is interferon-alpha.
LP, does Soton also own the patent of the Chinese/Cuban product. China is massive market and they could ramp up production sharpish. If it is owned by Soton could we get license for China as well as USA & EU?
TrekMadone. Please read my previous posts in relation to your comment "My understanding is we do not have a patent on interferon. We have a patent for use of interferon as an ingredient in SNG001." Apologies for the bluntness ......but you are just wrong.
"It takes years to get to that stage." Yes, precisely and Synairgen have been working on this for almost 10 years. No one else is going to be able to shoe horn this in without official clinical trials. Notwithstanding current predicament.
Soton own patent. License exclusively to us.
As i understand it.

We have Patents for the INHALED version of Interferon B in Europe & US. Please anyone with more knowledge of this jump in if my understanding is not accurate.
@Makendon, the Chinese use was not ours. It was a JV between china & Cuba, cant remember the company name but you can google it. Same premise though.
My understanding is we do not have a patent on interferon. We have a patent for use of interferon as an ingredient in SNG001. Interferon is not necessarily our value point. The value point comes from the clinical need to rapidly deployed a clinically proven drug containing interferon by inhaled means. It takes years to get to that stage. Until I read ‘the star’ article I was of the view that you just couldn’t pump something into patients on mass without going through proper trials. What has Fish been doing for thirty years and why hadn’t they registered clinical trials in China. Not a deramp as this is my biggest holding atm by a long way. Just not clear on the angle this is taking. Views..?
Trek
good thing is our product is ready for trial unlike someone who is making it from scratch.
our treatment was already for copd, which was showing some positive results in lung infections.
that is the reason we are much confident that this treatment will be successful.
also a big hint is that, they raised 4million to buy material, that means either covid treatment or copd is successful and we are in business.dyor.
If the Chinese are using it, then Synairgen will already be profiting from the transactions, but no one is declaring the stock is being consumed or being manufactured and shipped abroad, or that they have a manufacturer in place (GSK rumour only )
