would the company have to ish-shoe new shares? I know they are up to their ankles in cash due to its prudence but can see the temptation to slip on extra cash to the BS. Particularly as the company has had a good run-up from 38p.
does anyone know why this is dropping today after a pretty decent start
is really gathering pace! Well done to those who tried some on for size. I thought at mid 50s the market had the measure of these but it has made great strides forward since then.
If granted this Wed -
450 shops x up to £6k each = possible £2.7mn additional in the kitty
Very nice boost to liquidity.
Looking at your posts I see it is the low volumes you meant. I guess the BOD with 50% take a lot out of circulation - a family business.
Well I guess we can leave a sell order to be picked up or just take the (hopefully eventual) dividends.
Did you mean 'buy' any shares ?
Or are you saying the share trade volume is low?
Good idea, Techno, we should all get out to school gates and push the product. Have some flyers made up to hand out. Then in a few months the shareprice may be up alongside the likes of Royal Dutch Shell, and in a year, even Avon Rubber.
Chatting to a group of mothers of young school children yesterday. All were saying that they needed to buy shoes as their kids had grown out of or worn out their school shoes during lockdown. I mentioned Shoe Zone and it was agreed generally that it was the place to buy school shoes. Anecdotal, but these women were a small sample of the customer base and there is clearly a pent up demand.
Well Sterraman with an obvious pedigree like that I am surprised you don't apply for the vacant CFO position. You would be a shoo-in!
I've walked many miles in his shoes, his and the bloke previous, pounding hospital corridors. Best pair of working shoes I've ever had, they've never shown much wear, and change from £20. No sense in using your Church's for work or knocking about.
Agreed Tiger but I am not going to criticise the guy until I have walked a mile in his shoes. Therefore I am going to order a cheap pair from Shoe, walk a half a mile from my house before coming back the same route and then logging on where I will feel freer to comment.
Hi Draft!
No, that's a sacking. No thanks for his work, no best wishes for the future, just a terse 3 line RNS.
you cant really guess - anything could have happened
he might have someone very sick in the family and he feels he cant continue
So Foot has left Shoe, or did he get the boot? Did he dig his heels in? Did they have him on the Shoe rack? Or has he fallen on his knife? If, they can get a star replacement, this might soon regain.
really wrong footed today by that departure as he only stepped into the role last year. Now he is legging it.. I am rather ankleined to think nothing is afoot but in retail it is not what you toe that counts but who you toe. Of course it could just be he has decide to sit back and put his feet up but Mr Foot is a bit young for that. He hasn;t been there long but I suppose it is still rather large shoes to fill. The company kneed to find a replacement in a pacy fashion though I think the quick departure is a bit of a s(h)ock to SHOE too.
once covid is over, shops are open this will come back in my opinion strong, was 1.80 pre covid
hardly means anything at all. he probably couldn't be arsed to work . Ive worked for a lot of CFOs who are paid so well they hardly ever hang about, really doesn't mean anything
He has only been there since July and has a strong and relevant CV. Looks like he has had a major fallout about something.
Yikes!
phew lucky i jumped in, up 25% already
looked at my shares this morning, markets crazy - im literally up on everything
Yes, completely agree Crooty, a business rate holiday extension and a VAT reduction extension is what the high-street needs.
With help, the high-street should be able to come out of these problems quite quickly, what with the fast vaccine roll-out and pent-up demand.
Shoezone was never on my radar a few months ago but it is my biggest holding now - I hope I am proved right!
Scoobydoo,
They have well over 400 stores.......
Any extension to the Business rates holiday would be very welcomed...
They have on top of my head 130 stores, that's alot of biz rates savings.
Always excellently run, top brass has always been top notch.
Also, many sites I understand are due for renewal = rent expense decrease.
As mentioned, this year, not much travelling, much of the time of UK public is going to be in the UK = great for the high street retailers like SHOE.
discount stores do well in recessions, the british public will riot this summer if lockdown is not stopped i reckon
my recession recovery plays are TheWorks, CARD and shoezone, all neglected cheap high street retailers that people will flock to when they have no cash to really spend anymore
This govt can not keep schools closed forever
