Now we know why ! Very nice RNS.
Someone definitely loading up
I assume this is more purchases from our Portugal investor, as such I assume he is quite happy with the election result.
Never a dull moment with a SAV investment...
The last Politico poll of polls showed a much larger margin between AD and PS so maybe the Presidential plea for people to vote and high turn out has had its effect.
They are all aware of the different issues that face the country, high rents, low wages, immigration, emigration of the ambitious and perceived (or not) corruption. The BLP touches positively on many of these issues and, despite the implications of the SundayTimes article yesterday, the confirmation from the authorities that SAV has no case to answer would help undercut any political opposition looking to make objective decisions for the benefit of the country.
As you say TB, one might hope that the AD and PS will be adult enough to enable positive economic development for their respective electorates, and not use the possible disruptive votes of Chega to stall, just because they can. I can understand their name, looking back and saying ‘enough’ but do they want their current battle cry to be associated with ‘Not Enough’ by their current and future supporters if all they do is prevent economic renewal?
When the political 3-legged milking stool has one much shorter leg, it doesn’t make it very stable for business to plan.
Sad details to know, though good place to look was CNN Portugal (have a very nice 30% share owner)....using the browser 'Translate to English' option gives a good summary of the situation on the numbers and some details on the different parties.
Politics is odd though, looks like in 2024 the UK could be in a minority with elections this year, where by we look to be moving from a right leaning to left leaning (other will decide if Sir Keith is even left) government. If a week is a long time in politics, a year must be multiple lifetimes.
@ Tropicalblast. Thanks for the insight. You clearly have deeper knowledge of Portugese politics than I, so you're comments make interesting reading.
I suppose it's just a case of wait and see if/how this new party has any impact (if any) on this company. We shall see. Hopefully not too much to frighten the horses.
Yes and No, at a high level the AD Alliance (maybe similar to 2010 to 2016 Tories) have won most seats and votes, though have come short on having a working majority b y about 36 seats (got 79 when needed 115), so short by some distance. The previous party in charge, the PS (Maybe Gordon Brown Labour) won 77 seats and got less votes. The major 'winner' was the Enough Party (Chega in Portuguese)- Could say they are a Reform/2024 Tories party and got 48 seats
So on the face of it, it would seem that AD/Enough joining together would form a coalition government, but AD don't want to join with Enough due to their non-centre/far-rightish agenda. So that leaves them only with all the other parties to form some type of Rainbow Government (a government of all colours), but that only reaches 101 seats so still 14 short.
Even with 4 seats to declare it's not going to work.
So looks like AD alliance will be in charge but with a minority and have trouble if wanting to do anything major, the big one is always passing a budget. Not passing a budget will normally bring down a government
Could be that the PS will support the AD in passing a budget (if the polls show that PS would not win a new election or a new election would give AD overall victory), in return for certain conditions, one could be don't stop Li mining.
I would have thought our new investor would have considered this (and maybe known the answers) before spending money on circa 5% of SAV. Just another chapter in the SAV story.
The article was interesting and shared the local perspective in detail - it also shared the potential worth of the product and the fact that EU are absolutely reliant on access. SAV have a new company supporting and negotiating with locals but it is clear they took a high handed approach initially.
Just done a quick Google search, and it seems that their Conservative Party have won it.

@ Flundra.
You see, when I was a kid, I remember my mum stuffing newspapers behind the pipe in the outside bog in our yard.
Sadly now though, those same newspapers are full of sheet before they even get there these days.
A bargain flundra,if you have the runs.lol.
Fair point. £4 for the paper and there's nothing in it this week. You'd get half a dozen Andrex rolls for that so there's not even an extra cost...
@Flundra.
I never bother with newspapers to be fair. For what I'd use them for, I figure that Andrex to be far superior in quality and much more user friendly and worth the extra cost.
There's a large piece on p15 of todays Sunday Times about the mine the locals and SAV, linking today's election to the corruption in the approvals process.
I don't have a link and didn't learn anything new, but it's there if anyone's interested.
So the next few days should prove to be interesting once the results are announced.

Tomorrow, wonder what twist to this tale may get throw in?
Musicman,
It does make me wonder when people wrote those comments as to the sincerity of their intentions. If you’ve made a profit, good for you. But when they wrote this additional crap then you have to wonder if they are trying to push the sentiment down, others see someone bailing out and also bail this bringing the price down.
And this where the stock market has gone so wrong and GREED rules
people pushing the price down as much as possible, for short term gain. in the past shares have gone up x3 x5 x10 because people were willing to wait
now they just shove it down
Nice one. Glad you've turned a profit. Enjoy.
Dont believe the lithium price has bottomed yet. Taking my profits here, good luck to all
