Personally I have no moral dilemma with investing in RR.
Defense spending is exactly that in the case of Rolls Royce. They don't make munitions, the vast majority of this comes from submarines used as deterrents or defence HK submarines. You could argue on things like the VTOL component for the F35, but even then air superiority is essential in defense and we and our allies need multirole jets.
Their commercial aircraft engines are constantly improving in terms of efficiency and reliability, focused on renewable fuels etc.
Through strength comes peace, bullies only pick on those they perceived weak. Defence spending should only be enough to create balance along with the perception you’ll use it if necessary. A country that has the nuclear triad and says we’ll never use it might as well not have it in the first place. RR has the technologies to enrich our lives, clean energy, travel … celebrate that and enjoy the money when it comes.
So ends todays sermon

What's happening?
Prices all over the place.
Showing up when down. 3x suspended ?
Investment grade rating - once the ratings houses put this back to investment grade the big funds can start buying again. They already hold ~60%+ of the stock
NTC I believe, in true historic terms, that Oppenheimer just picked up a newer type of log and gave it to the pack leader to whack a bully over the head with. Scientific discoveries are rarely the reason for tragedy, it's usually the circumstances that surround the event that are the cause. This type of contemplation is all to deep for a financial BB, so if you read this web page it will show you some of the more fascinating and uplifting aspects of Rolls Royce's works. https://www.cam.ac.uk/stories/rolls-royce
good morning, nettles, *****cat, whatever you like to be called.
i have to say i am of the same thought, troubled by investing in the share on one hand, we have the most economical engines in the world and the other we pollute the skies, without companies like rolls-royce, where would we be?, we have to invest in a future or there’s parallel future without travel, and the pollution it brings, i thought long and hard about this, no matter what we do human beings if we live off the land we create co2 burning fossil fuels timber etc,
looking at the palestinian situation witnessing starving children i wonder where our humanity has gone.
big leap understand no doubt people will complain, but we seem to make money in somewhere someone suffers. i just hope openheimer becomes more relevant for us as nuclear power so we stop burning so much fossil fuel, perhaps well fly in electric aircraft or hydrogen created from the electricity created from nuclear power.
This page gets so off subject 😤
Can everyone post one positive catalyst for Rolls Royce
Im going with AUKUS as best catalyst
And flight time being at pre-covid levels again🤩
Everyone post 1, but if u dont have alot of shares excluded youself
Article a Few weeks old, but stronger Rolls Royce is more likely he will be a billionaire
Erginbilgiç’s shares were granted in March 2023 at a price of 90.8p per share. They closed at 353p on Friday, giving him a paper gain of £21.6mn. Erginbilgiç cannot realise any potential gains until 2027 at the earliest; the two tranches vest in 2027 and 2028 and can be clawed back if needed.
Don't bogart that joint my friends...
Aye, that message certainly stirred the hornet's nest within. Like a stormy sea, emotions can be a fickle current. First, you're chasing the thrill of a good investment, then the moral compass throws you off course.
Now, listen here. Nature itself is a fair captain. It throws storms and sunshine at us in equal measure. But here's the thing, matey - nature thrives on balance. Look at an island. Competition for resources, sure, but the ecosystem finds a way to coexist. Predators hunt, prey runs, but the circle keeps turnin'. That's the natural order - a delicate dance where peace allows life to flourish.
So, maybe this defence investment is a 'tempest' in your moral teacup. But remember, even the fiercest storm eventually gives way to calm seas. Take some time to reflect, and chart a new course if need be. There's plenty of treasure to be found out there, both the kind that fills the pockets and the kind that gives you a clear conscience. And who knows, maybe a calm harbor suits you better than the churning seas of war profiteering.
Remember, a good captain knows when to batten down the hatches, but also when to set sail for calmer waters. Fair winds to you, matey.
Has anyone seen this yet? It seems to be a marmite film to be honest. Watched it last night and personal I was deeply moved by it. One man's desire to be recognised for his skills, that unfortunately lead to a cataclysmic death toll that he would try and justify in careful rhetoric after the deed but would fall on deaf ears, due to his obvious convictions in communist ideology, and a US that didn't really want to hear it under Truman.
A very basic comparison but Jeff Goldblum's line as Dr Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park suggested:
"...but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, that they didn't stop to think if they should"
I do wonder if Spielberg wrote that about Oppenheimer in some way - it seems to fit like a glove.
Anyway, my point of this is to suggest that maybe we do lose track in what we invest in at times? I wasn't very happy with the increase based on GDP for defence last week, although I celebrated it at the time with RR being prime to get a part of the billions invested over the next 10 years...
... Maybe I'm getting old. I just seem to be evaluating everything a little more that I used to - it's not just about the cash to me anymore, possibly never has been, so why do I do it?
I think I'll park happily at £7 come Feb 2025. I'll no doubt do an Oppenheimer and wonder where my invested money ended up. Did it kill people through defence? Or did it fly people on Airbus to their honeymoon destination....
...and as such, which is worse?
I may just become a cat again. Sit in front of the fire, pretend not to care - whilst knowing everything.
Avast, ye landlubber! Glad, I could make this pirate cat finally hoist its happy flag! Now, that be a mighty fine metaphor you got there, even a salty seadog like me can appreciate a good feline comparison.
Maybe next time we can swap tales about the stock market over a plate of fresh fish and a mug of grog – though if it's a Rolls Royce ye be dreamin' of flying in, best make sure yer stocks climbin' faster than a monkey up a greased flagpole!
Well said captain - purring like a pirate cat that hasn't purred in years. 👍
Exactly, the Lloyds BB is for all that, and boy can they talk blx all day over there in the penny arcade.
Ahoy, me hearties! Gather 'round and listen to a tale of the grand ol' stock market, where fortunes are made and lost faster than a Kraken can snatch a galleon! This week, the mighty S&P 500, our trusty ship, finally righted itself after a month of stormy seas, climbin' a sprightly 2.7%!
Seems tech and fancy-dan consumer companies finally uncorked their finest grog, reportin' earnings that shimmered brighter than a mermaid's scales. Alphabet, the landlubbers who provide yer maps and all yer internet fancyin', even declared their first-ever dividend – handin' out free treasure!
Hold yer barnacles, don't go blowin' all yer doubloons just yet. The S&P 500 is still down for the month, thanks to some earlier squalls. But shiver me timbers, the year be lookin' mighty fine with a hearty 6.9% gain overall!
Next week be another adventure, with even bigger whales like Amazon and Apple revealin' their bounty. But remember, the true mark of a successful voyage ain't just the treasure in the hold, but the ship ye sail in! And for those who appreciate the finer things in life, there's nothin' quite like a top-notch Rolls Royce engine, glidin' through the market with the grace of a dolphin and the power of a kraken's tentacle. So keep an eye on the market, but remember, a Rolls Royce Power will always be yer favourite ride, even when the seas are rough!

Don’t Mention Brexit !!!!!!! It’s like Basil Fawlty mentioning the war .. utter disaster.. I don’t like posting politics but it does make me angry with these Daily Mail / Express readers passing throw away comments on how bad Labour will make .. have a look around you for Gods sake .. and on immigration you are right illegal migration is a smoke screen.. it’s all the legal migrants they are now letting in through universities and work positions that can be no longer filled because of BREXIT… and the thing is they voted Brexit because they didn’t like the Polish or Bulgarians taking their jobs .. now those jobs are being filled by Indians/Bangledeshi/Zimbabweans/Nigerians .. and they are never going back home on the completion of their visas .. at least the Poles would have gone back to a prosperous Poland
The boatees are a smokescreen that all are in on.The real scale of immigration is breathtaking, nearly a million a year soon, and that is net million. We cannot cope with the scale of it.
@Pat, this link says it all really as to where the UK has fallen to….
https://www.facebook.com/share/v/FrYDWLbzCfWqv7v1/?mibextid=WC7FNe
And they thought Brexit would sort it…now drifting into North Sea looking for a trade agreement with the Faroe Islands. You couldn’t make this stuff up….
The less votes that Liebores get,the less confidence they will have to screw us over.
We are being thrown to the wolves by the cons.Things will surely worsen before they get better. The good times may never be back.
My advice is work hard and be tax efficient as possible because when you get older it will be too late.
For goodnes sake leave well alone and give The Prime minister a free rein to get on with the job in hand and that is to sort the imigrent problem for which he has the best solution ,or at least I have not heard any better suggestions let him get on with it and we will reap the benefits soon enough.
Another Reform voter here.
Hello MEDI and Oldsid, The 4.12 closing price on RR investor board may have been Tufans personal secretary consuming her home made mulberry wine at seeing a 15 pence increase, so typed £4.12 instead of £4.21 ????????
Hiccup !!!!!!! I've just had a glass myself, I'll get me Coat.
Wakeboarder, by voting Reform you are guaranteeing a Labour government, you are obviously aware of that.
Why vote for what you don't want?
It seems bizzare to me!
