I concur CWWX: Korean's already gearing up for production, in collaboration with the US via NuScale.
I am afraid UK is being left behind and rishi (one shirt) Sunak isn't helping. Cancellation of the Northern part of HS2 sums him up

I concur CWWX. Romania being another example

I concur CWWX . Ghana being an example

The date 2029 is key. Yes they’ll get whittled down to final selection but we’re years off knowing for certain. Can see other countries jumping on board and the U.K. will get left behind…..
I agree badlands, no doubt back handers will be involved.
Good news RR hasn't been adverse to handing out back handers in the past hence £670millon fine RR had to the UK serious fraud office.
Seems everyone is getting swept along here on the assumption this is a one horse race, it is not ! the tendering process is still acting out, and nobody knows the end result yet.
I also concur because as we know building SMRs across the country is a vote winner 🤣.
Remember this is the same Sunak that cancelled HS2 , put back nett zero (which SMRs are a part of ) and granted more oil drilling all off the back Uxbridge by-election result.
Under Sunaks watch steel production has been "exported," to India.
Sunak is not a big idea man , I mean he has been wearing the same white shirt for months. My goodness is that white shirt annoying
If you can produce gas without interrupting the middle east,
Then just go nuclear energy, why are we sending our money there for fuel
And everyone who bought in on ISA’s
UK provides SMR contracts to RR and everyones ISA goes up lol
UK business for UK investors
MJK1.
"My point was, why would any government in their right mind, ban their OWN country from producing oil and gas?"
and do we have any party's that show even the least amount of mental competence?
Would bring up the FTSE too,
America has NVIDIA at the trillions, UK Rolls Royce in the billions
UK FTSE growth would be swelled if this got to 200Billion Market cap like Linde or Shell right?
PEAKDREAD I concur the SMR tender is already in the public domain if the government tender process and timelines are not adhered to they run the risk of the Rolls Royce SMR unit running out of funds thus the project could potentially be shelved or sold off - neither party would gain if such an event.
It's so sad that when we are receiving good news for the UK, in reality it only comes when it benefits the halfwits in charge, as in backhanders or to make them look good.
RE "I wouldnt have thought that this would be able to be done as parliament has been dissolved until a general election has taken place."
It's a paid for / budgeted policy whichh is supposed to move forward in June. I don't see why they have to delay any announcement due to theh election. Purdah is supposed to stop Governments bribing the electorate with fanciful giveaways in thhe run up to the election - as this is an already stated policy I don't see it being affacted - TThe Tories would be mad not to announce RR as a winner.
I may, of course, be totally wrong but I don't see why Government policies which are budgeted and already planned for should stop just because of some pesky election.... :-)
Even a hint from the Tories will send this bananas!
Although purdah is about to start, don't forget this!
In 2023 Rishi Sunak was reported to the Cabinet Secretary after being accused of breaking the pre-election period rules preventing big policy announcements before elections.
You are correct Sir .
I wouldnt have thought that this would be able to be done as parliament has been dissolved until a general election has taken place.

I actually disagree on announcement, I think the Tories will hurry it up, and award it to RR, it will be a feather in their cap whilst electioneering, thousands of more jobs, etc, if they want to win votes, they would be mad not to capitalise on it imo. So I think the share price is starting its upward trend in anticipation of an early declaration.
Perfect reading over a coffee :-)
Totally agree, absolute bonkers. It wouldn’t reduce the amount of fossil fuel we burn, it would just increase the amount we import rather than the country benefitting from producing our own.
2029?! Guess I'll pull up a chair and get my slippers on
