Despite share price weakness seems the business is moving along just fine.
"Ongoing shift in business mix towards higher growth analytics and decision tools. Positive momentum across the group, and we expect another year of strong underlying growth in revenue and adjusted operating profit."
Added a smidge more on todays little pull back after broke 100DMA. Share price popped back above it so hope holds the support.

Seems to be taking a breather for the last few weeks....? Looking back at the last 2 or 3 years it seems to do this at this time of year before going on a run again about July/August...? Maybe, I'm just clutching at reasons to be cheerful 🤔🤔.Hang on, I feel a song coming on 😄
Best to everyone

Just wondering if anyone had an opinion on RELX as a future takeover target for any of the really big tech companies. Someone like Amazon or Google, wanting to get in to the Scientific or Healthcare research market in a big way. Massive step up being able to get your advanced AI engines to leverage all of the content that Elsevier owns. Could see the group being broken up as well with Exhibitions being sold of to a competitor, and pretty sure some of the big consultancies , legal and risk organizations would love to get hold of Lexis Nexis Legal and Risk know how. Not starting a rumor, but you could see how a big player could make massive money from that sort of takeover.

Downgrade but increases price target to £35 from £33....covering all bases...oh the life of an analyst.
To be fair says sp performance has come quicker than expected and doesn't see any catalysts in near future.

I had a chance to get these at the 550, then 750 then 950 that which point i finally got in for £30k. after 5 years it went to about 2400 and then started dropping back to 2100 at which point i sold out and basically had doubled my money. just after covid time and the price had gone down to 1800 so i bought another £30k, so its now worth almost double. If you look at the charts on this no matter what timescale over however many years , the graph looks the same always going up and up in almost a straight line. The value seems to double every 5 years. So i dont think it matters what price you got in with RELX all you have to do is wait 5yrs.
....but it would be at the top point again. However, I bought my first tranche at the top end approx 4 weeks ago and it didn't take long to be in profit after that dip I
caused. LOL. Decisions, decisions. I watched too long before buying my first tranche and missed a lot of the previous rise. Easy to think it must have topped out now, for a while, but just keeps giving. Hmmmm?

Not only that, but a positive forecast for the next 12 months.
Good results as usual. 8% increase in dividend and share buyback proposed.
I guess the fall in share price is profit taking.
Onwards and upwards 😊
Any thoughts on results? They look good to me as a relatively new investor here especially with dividend uplift.

Was beginning to think these were getting a bit expensive, but interesting to see that DATA have sold a minority stake in one of their divisions to PE on a multiple of 22x's EBITDA. I've got both Relx and Wolters Kluwer in my SIPP. Stockopedia has them both on 19x's EBITDA and they are higher quality businesses IMO.
Anyway, Relx is one of those companies that always looks expensive but just compounds away without much drama. Great company.

Not just you YamR1man, I bought back in today, so it's gone down..........
See, told ya.
Mr math, yes, very odd but it's enjoyed a long run up. Been watching and watching and watching this too long but I've now dipped my toe in today on the 2% dip. So,....sorry folks, it might tank now ! We'll see.
REL is the only share I own that is down this morning, but if I could have bought just one share it would be this one. The lack of comments here reflects what a fantastic share it is: in the long term it just keeps rising!
Yep, bought back along and sold out at 2900 for a nice little profit. Wish I'd held, and looking for a retrace to get back in, but not sure it's going to happen!

Nice rise today and recently, as well as a nice dividend payment. RELX are really becoming a money making machine in terms of both growth and dividends, what's not to like.

Price projection 1930-2040, within 8 months. RSI(relative strength index),bullish failure swing. Sp, is reassuringly above the long term trend line.

Great results. I see RELX is Nick Train’s top holding in Finsbury Growth and Income trust. Might top up when the froth subsides.
Great figures released today - expecting sp to rise.
Timst, agree, ideally placed to benefit from AI, and also current years targets appear, from reports, to be easily realisable.
Daily Telegraph today:
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2023/05/04/lawyers-ai-chatbots-legal-documents-lexis-nexis-chatgpt/
"LexisNexis is owned by Relx, the FTSE 100-listed media and analytics company. Last month Relx was the only British company to be named in Bank of America’s list of the top 10 businesses most likely to benefit from AI."

purchasers twice sellers. one of the oddities of stock markets everywhere
Taken a small position. Look very cheap
Good results. Hikes dividend. Announces share buyback. Everyone sells. Shares fall 5% Typical market reaction. The buyers will be back tomorrow.
Bought another £3k - drop overdone imv.
Feels like a slight over-reaction. There was relatively strong growth across the board, with the probable exception of the Reed Exhibitions business with was massively impacted by Covid, but which still grew in the 2nd half of 2021 (a strong bounce back). Gut feel is that 2022 will be a much stronger year with the Legal, medical and research business continuing steady growth and Exhibitions continuing to contribute far more to the revenue and profits throughout the year. This is a strong buy for me, all of the fundamentals of a strong business are there, just don't really understand the market reaction....

Results look to be exactly on trend to me. Can only assume the analysts had pencilled in something slightly better.
You can never tell - yesterday I expected GSK to take a bit of a hammering, market shrugged its shoulders. Today it's RELX that gets a little kick.
"Relx PLC on Thursday fell slightly short of expectations for its 2021"
Over reactions are making it easier for the traders. Thinking about throwing in a few bucks although I'm more a long term holder than a trader these days.

Another of those rather strange reactions. You hear the news, you expect the price to rise and then hey ho end up topping up because of the fall.

great company but i sold out just before xmas as i felt that it had got very frothy around the£24
bought at £17.20 back in feb so had a very nice run .
market seems to be moving from the tech to the high yield stocks at the moment but will be watching this stock as fully expect to buy it again in the future.
Looks like CITI group changing to Neutral stance, and the Fed rumours of interest rate hikes. Overblown reaction me thinks, but ho hum.
More concerned with todays drop, which doesn't seem to have a reason that I can see. Very odd - Still digging in to why?
Shaz
Just thought I'd take a look here as the share price dropped heavily this morning while the market was well up. Saw your post so thought I'd say 'hello'!
Ive held these for years, bought at about £10. Not very exciting but with capital growth and decent dividend what"s not to like?
God it's lonely on this board. Pleased to see the price rise here, suspect it will top out at around £21.50 - £22.00 just before the summer break, some good news from the CFO recently, so a lot of positives, and the dividend is still a good payout....
