I'm a long term patient with this one. Hopefully some thoughts of the end of the tunnel for me but I'm still not seeing the light just yet. I think it'll be a bumpy ride but it has the feeling of being on the way up with less negative news. I need 3.80 to get back to even, I'd like to think it'll happen in the next 18 months.
Well I wish us both all the luck but glad to see other people in it for the long run or should i say a bit of a sprint if update is good !
It's like buses on here. Nothing for ages then a load come all at once. Blue sky target price? Don't have one - but 3.70 will be enough for me to pay off my mortgage... There's a good chance it may get somewhere near close to results day. :-) Ulster Bank and Mortgage book allegedly strong. We shall see. I am prepared to wait.
Once I have filtered out the numptys on the LLoy thread who just bang on about their political views its about as quiet as this board somedays. As I said RBS slowly becoming a player in my P/F with RBS hitting the magical 3 mark I would have thought it would have evoked some topical chatter ! Anyone got any blue sky target price like myself ? Lurking usually my game but its been like being in a room by yourself nowadays.
Where are you? Always looked forward to reading your posts Very quiet on this board these days
Tend to lurk on the lloyds thread but its not very interesting nowadays but good to see more activity on this board especially as RBS has hit 300+. have slowly been building my interest when RBS hit under 200 so slowly becoming a big player in my pf. target price 375 but depending on results may raise it to 400 . Introduction of divi will obviously be a game changer finger crossed on next results
Results are expected to be good, so I can see a steady rise leading up to the 23rd Feb then if dividends are reinstated it will go up more. Then maybe will be the time to sell and buy back on the drop.
for the record I've done what I normally do when I'm in a situation like this - sold half my holding at 303 - intend to buy back in if/when they fall to low 290s
not at all SoR. In fact I'm flattered - do you think that what I and others on this board do will have a material effect on the SP????????????? Crikey charlie - deluded. As always DYOR - just curious what others think thats all.
Steak, So translation I have a short running, could you all sell so I can have a profit....
Been trading these for a while now and sitting on a 11% profit. Also been reading about some technical analysis suggesting that this share is possibly overbought. I do believe that we are seeing a longer term upward trend but am wondering if this (303p) may be a short term peak? Thoughts welcome
Great to see it breach the 3 barrier, onwards and upwards! Results above expectation should see 350p, I think. This is a gem of a share but DYOR....
Looks like the bod will issue more good news,I wonder what kind of profit they will announce? And will DIvis be reinstated for the first time in nearly 10yrs. Can anyone see any reason why this will not rise up to the results date ?
Tilting! Welcome back. I wondered when we'd get your wonderfully miserable take on things again. The key part of your post is 'it appears to me they don't care or they don't know anything about running a business. Shares will fall', which of course should be read as 'I don't actually have any idea about why RBS has done what they have (although I'd expect that there are some sober commercial considerations involved), but my default setting is conspiracy theorist/ doom- monger, so I'll willingly (and lazily) infer apathy and ignorance as the basis for the decision'. Cheer up though: at least it is Friday!
Logged on to ii TDW and the SP was listed at 327 the buggers
As a shareholder, I am glad that RBS did pull the plug on a dead duck. It shows prudent activity for the future benefit of its stakeholders. If anybody should have stepped in that situation surely it should have been HMG. Ironically, they had assisted the known demise of a white Elephant by allowing them to get more and more contracts on poor terms. The pensioners of the business should be at the top of the creditor list, not the bottom. This would force misdirection of cash and affect how deficits are treated all around.
Strange but history repeats itself. RBS pulls the plug on what could be a viable business because as it appears to me they don't care or they don't know anything about running a business. Shares will fall.
Not as exposed as someone with a staff pension might be. Poor sods. Always the bottom of the food chain that suffers the most.
Wonder how exposed RBS are?
Question Time this Thursday is worth an eyeball. There is clearly an ongoing historical case still to be addressed and answered honestly. Phantom shares and consequently, perhaps even more meat on the bone, but who held the bone and was screwing shareholders ? I cant wait for a resolution to the historical issues, the reinstatement of a dividend and sale of the Gov stake.

Will be on BBC question time this coming Thursday 22.30 ish
Of the big banks are looking good for the imeadeate future. Did well trading this over the last few years. Some rises were followed by 5% drops making in easy to get in and out. I wonder how much more this can rise this time? Long may it continue. GLA
300p is a round number which the market likes. However, it was also resistance in 2014 and 2015. RBS is bullish at the moment, but there could be a few tests of 300 first before it breaks though. It's also getting much closer to its 200 EMA, which is 305p, so that represents another barrier for it to break. It can only do this with good fundamental performance.
GOOD TO SEE 300+ IT'S BEEN TRYING FOR SO LONG....... WELL LET'S SEE WHAT THE RESULTS BRING THIS YEAR SHOULD BE A GOOD YEAR FOR RBS LET'S GET THIS DOJ CASE PAYED OFF LET'S GET THE DIVI BROUGHT BACK LET'S GET THE GOV OF OUR BACK Yes we may get a little pull back along the way as the markets pull back every now and then, but overall we should move higher as we near results.....
