Moving up nicely, let’s hope FEB brings Divi news.
Looks like it will go upward this time after only the second attempt. It broke 270 resistance in September last year, pulled back and is now on its way upward. GLA and DYOR
Jreid1611 This is more to do with Broker Upgrade Shares in Royal Bank of Scotland led the banking sector, up 3.4 percent after broker Morgan Stanley upgraded its rating on the stock to "overweight". Morgan Stanley said that RBS offered the most resilience in an uncertain outlook. Shares in peers HSBC and Standard Chartered also gained more than 2 percent.
Any ideas why particularly good morning for RBS and HSBC?
Happy New Year to all invested in RBS... Hope this year is the year Was a bit disappointed from the last attempt to crack the 290+ level maybe this time we may do it fingers crossed

Move On
Received an update from Signature today. Depressing reading as a whole host of issues, 90 million phantom shares and funding difficulties mean the payout is disappearing before my eyes. If they go to court to defend some of claims on payout it could take years to resolve. Just as well I was not planning on having money for Xmas.
No. Unfortunately not. She did say there was still some work to do but wasn't specific about times.
Hi. Did they mention when they are likely to be in a position to pay the compensation to the shareholders who were not late in signing up?
Just to let anyone interested know, if you were a late applicant to the action group you are definitely not included in any settlement. Thought I'm not sure the settlement sounds like much anyway...and they are still fighting over semantics. You will, however, be refunded your application money. I called them today and they said I was getting my initial £300 back with no reduction for admin fees etc. Happy Christmas!
payment? About time we got that settled ind get some divvies here. Come on McEwan, get a move on like when you sent 15000 jobs down th broadband to India.

Oops seems they're out today and all Banks passed. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-42148682 Barely a ripple in the market - maybe not a peak / trough - more like a damp squib!
I seem to recall reading somewhere that the BoE stress tests were to be published this week and RBS wasn't expected to do well in them. Anyone know when they're due? Could be the next peak / trough. Maybe one for the brave!!
I'm glad you are still about; pluralism is key to good debate.
Many thanks for the explanation halfmist.👍
Hi Bigmac. To keep the maths simple. Say your 1000 bought you 3000 shares at the time. RBS were concerned that the share price was being manipulated by fairly small trades so they consolidated in to a 1 for 10. So you would now have 300 shares which would be worth 10 times what they were worth before. So you were no worse off. So when a dividend is declared of say 2p per share, if you still own the shares on a certain date after the declaration you will be entitled to the dividend. Using the above example you now own 300 shares at 2p per share which will give you a dividend of 6. In simple terms your income has increased by 6 but the total value of your shares falls by a similar amount so you are no better off.
Glad to be remembered - they still are on the down when all the truth cones out.
Guys I’m just going to have to write this and I know it’s a stupid question but never mind. I don’t understand shares at all but about 10 years ago I bought £1000 worth of shares in RBS for (at the time) 35p per share. Now I know a while later they consolidated the shares and so my 35p a share was then 350p a share or something like that. However this dividend rns came out today and as I don’t really watch or understand these things I have no idea if I am going to get money or how much I will get. After you all stop laughing at the question, can somebody explain what it all means to me?
Looks like RBS is hard work even for the Gov they have been trying to get this Elephant of their back for years http://www.lse.co.uk/sharecast-news-article.asp?ArticleCode=26741891&ArticleHeadline=Treasury_announces_plans_to_sell_RBS_shares
Well, National Grab Your Pants Day has been and gone, although I had a lot of fun taking part. Now be honest, you are the alter ego of Tilting at Windmills aren't you?
