There are some posters on this site who quite frankly talk through their botty. Before you suggest the company is about to go bankrupt, may I suggest you undertake a basic course in Accounts . If you look at the balance sheet, if you understand Financial Statements, you will see this company has healthy reserves which can handle any fines etc which are in the pipeline. Me thinks, some of the recent posters on here, have a hidden agenda or an old score to settle against this company.
NatWest Mortgage Centre in Birmingham City Centre may end up closing its doors after the final bits or work move to India and Greenock Mortgage Centre in Scotland. Understand that redundancies are been offered again to the NatWest Mortgage staff. What was never on the cards to be moved to India due to the complexity of the work is now been shifted to cut costs and fast. NatWest Mortgage Centre employed once about 400-500 people, not only a handful remain. Whilst there may be saving in the long run, quality of customer service may reduce.
Ross McEwen is looking for another job in Australia. He knows that RBS is going to sink very rapidly. Anyone holding any shares should dump them ASAP.. The government is going to issue a press release stating that they have to take a loss on RBS. There are more fines coming and the bank cannot withstand the next wave of problems. RBS will have to sell everything and will still be bankrupt. The government has been unable to stop the US fines.
Dropping like a stone - new revelations will lead to more court cases. FCA report damning and McEwan knew all along. I can see this one going to the wall.
My guess for what it is worth that they will not pay a dividend of any sort until they make a profit .At that point they will perhaps pay a token amount .If they then continue to make profits I would imagine the dividend amount would slowly rise and at the same time the remaining retained profit being used to rebuild reserves and capital there be a profit after the extraordinary itemswill the fines bad
Think it was Motely Fool and III but can't be sure. Its mentioned most time they produce results. Who knows when it will happen. Good Luck Hawkey

Any thoughts on when we might start repaying dividends ?? A numer of people talking about early next year ?? Hawkey
I am in favour of doing what is right for current shareholders - many of whom - will also be past ones . I am not so sure about executives unless they behaved responsibly and in good faith and to a standard to justify their remuneration
Can anyone advise please what "bargain positions apply" on the buys and sells means
Any thoughts on Bitcoin? Am thinking about investing
Hi honest bob and slinger1, Agree in ideal world RBS would have paid out a fair compensation to all without need for any party to go to court. But we are in the real world and RBS are protecting current shareholders and past executives. It was easy to join the AG simply downloaded form from their web site, completed it and sent it off with cheque for £200. Unfortunately subsequent cash calls has increased my contribution to £1600. I therefore fully take on board point of pensioners not being anle to aford this. However I jave not yet recieved back a penny of my original investment or AG fees. Not recieving replys tl e-mail and phone ringing out. The settlement said funds would be distributed via AG. Anybody else in similar situation? Will keep you posted but feel there is still long way to go before I get cash.
The whole affair appears a little squalid - either shareholders were treated fairly at the time or they were not If they were it was an investment risk and everyone should receive nothing -why should todays shareholders pay out if this was the case. If not all should be treated equally and compensated . There will old and vulnerable people who held shares for whatever reason - who may well not have had the confidence understanding or resources to join an action group Or they were not treated fairly in which case all who took part in the rights issue should receive the same compensation One would have thought that the Bank would have clear records of all that happened when the rights issue were made so its present directors should know one way or another Unless it really is not clear in which case I would say that if the Bank cannot clearly show it acted properly it should do the decent thing I did not take up ant rights so have no axe to grind . By settling pout of court , having dragged matters out , the uncertainty will remain and fester .The bank had the opportunity to move as quickly as possible to go to a court case to demonstrate its innocence .

JP2008 I would have been happy to shoulder some of the costs, I've never had or expected anything in life for free. Point is that unlike others, I wasn't invited to join the action group and to date I've not had a response to my letters to them. I'm not sure what others had that warranted them being able to join that I didn't. I'm glad that there are those like yourself who've received money back, but all shareholders should have had the the same opportunity.
tIltingatwindmill The Court of Appeal made it clear in the case of CGL Group Ltd and others v RBS and others that where parliament has set a time limit for claims then any legal moves which attempt to circumvent that time limit should be blocked. So although in theory a private criminal prosecution is still possible even if it was successful and a criminal penalty imposed, shareholders would not be able to claim any compensation. In practice anyone silly enough to attempt a private criminal action would almost certainly face a potentially lengthy and costly battle to even get the case heard. The regulator has investigated the matter twice (once for their initial investigation and once for the independently supervised report ordered by the Treasury Select Committee) and concluded that there is insufficient evidence to bring criminal action. RBS could argue that it would be a malicious case. They could also argue that it would be a waste of court time to allow an action when there is little chance of success and so it would be against the public interest. A clever lawyer could probably find many other reasons to block the case So anyone bringing such an action would face costly legal expenses and even if they won wouldn’t get anything back!
Must be worth another purchase? Did this last week and then went up to low 2.6s

The idea that rbs is anything other than a company and that it is essentially a money shop is miss understood . Certainly in English law. I don't believe that they are above the law. If a judge thinks that is the case then we are all lost
Totally not true. Illegal acts place this outside the time limits!! They will pay big time RBS days as a company are numbered
RBS is only paying compensation to the groups who they settled with. Everybody else has missed the boat as legal acrtion is time limited to 7 years post rights issue. I appraoched and joined RBOS AG 6 years ago and have had to pay £1600 over the years to help fund group action. So have no sympathy for those who wish the rewards without shouldering the financial burden and risks in taking RBS to court. Incidentally as part of settlement RBS did not admit any liability or wrong doing so chances of them paying up to anybody not a member of the shareholders groups is zero.
Let me know if you find out.. I didn't get an invite to the party from the RBS Action Grp!
Time government started issuing work permits - people from eu etc are going to come here anyway like it or not the world moves on - time to employ people to do the sweeping up and keep the system going
Oops :-) I guess my intel is dated lol. I was sure I had just been reading that RBS were attempting to sell WorldPay. But yeh - I just wiki'd it and your spot on. Thanks.
Who do i write to for compensation for the RBS mis-sold shares is it the bank in Edinburgh or Rip OFF Britain BBC SALFORD
