Bk, not easy to say. Looking back at RNSs for a similar time of year. Last year nothing in Feb, previous year two updates in Feb.
Are we expecting any more news from OptiBiotix anytime soon?
Reading the November update, Boots are launching the quarter.
I would like to see how the last quarter of 2023 progressed and the year as a whole.
McDonald’s
Surely Golden Arches isn’t the spot for a healthy bite on the move? Not if you order burgers, fries and sugar-laden condiments. “But the grilled chicken salad meal is better for you than any burger,” Kerrigan says. “It comes with water and a bag of carrots to munch on, and in terms of calories, saturated fat and salt, beats burgers hands down.” For breakfast, go for plain porridge, without added sugar, jam or golden syrup.

Companies do not pay capital gains in the same way a private taxpayer does.
Despite ongoing concerns about the health impacts of non-sugar sweeteners such as aspartame, sucralose and stevia, these sweeteners are increasingly found in a variety of foods and beverages, including those aimed at children. A viewpoint published in JAMA Pediatrics by three experts on the topic emphasizes that research on the health effects of non-sugar sweeteners in children is urgently needed.

The latter would result if OPTI landed a whopping CG bill and miss the inevitable recovery once the panic is over.
As the shareholders on here are actually shareholders in SBTX due to the companies extensive share holdings, it stands to reason that the great shelf space and distribution network offered after SBTX 's latest company acquisition such as boots should also be offered to promote the parent company as well, at mates rates.
Either that or sell the holding in SBTX, which will drive price to low figs indeed and reabsorb SBTX, disposing of its underperforming board, saving a fortune in overheads.
OPTI does not manufacture anything.
In the marathon of innovation, patience pays off. #SweetBiotix is not just a breakthrough in sugar alternatives; it's a testament to the diligent journey from lab to table. For the visionary investor, this is where long-term value blooms. 🌱 #OPTI #HealthInnovation #PatientInvesting

The fixed and working capital required to manufacture is massive - as well as then low margin.
Low asset companies with IP and high margins are the ones able to leverage profit on higher revenues.

The value is the intellectual property rights and not the manufacturing which can be delivered by third parties.
Great looong awaited news. Problem is do Opti have the ability to manufacture Sweetbiotix?
If not then they need DSM-Firmenich to make and supply the product or another multinational. This could undermine the intrinsic value of this world leading sugar alternative and likewise revenues to Opti.
Loads - smiley face emoji.
Martinu - yes it IS too early to say what you said.
Things are moving in the right direction. But they're moving slowly. Whilst Stephen could open his sweetshop shutters today, he'd have no customers waiting outside yet.
Let's see if that changes by the end of 2024.
Agree Analyzer, slow progress but ready to produce bulk sugar substitute then introduce SweetBiotix into Opti products. But some months from the "real" deals. Is it to early to say, "the shutters are coming up and Stephen's sweetshop is open for business"?
Extract from wordy RNS
"Given recent progress, the Company's focus has moved on from manufacturing scale up to engaging with commercial partners to launch products. Discussions are ongoing but are likely to involve a phased introduction of SweetBiotix® products as a direct bulk sugar substitute and then introduced into OptiBiotix's and partners consumer products across an increasing range of applications. With growing consumer and industry concerns over traditional sugars and sweeteners, the Company is in a strong position to exploit its low calorie, high fibre SweetBiotix® products as a safe, natural and healthy alternative to sugar and sugar substitutes."
So Sweetbiotix can now be manufactured at scale and has passed taste tests which is all positive as is need to move on from other sweeteners.
I think that given the scale of companies involved progress to launch will I suspect be slow.
Shares will only really react when we either announced commercial deals or perhaps only after revenues start arriving.
Excellent update. Everything seems to being going to schedule as per last update.
"Manufacturing scale up with Firmenich slowed during and after their merger with DSM, as anticipated, but resumed in late autumn 2023 as Firmenich moved manufacturing scale up from its contract manufacturer to DSM's in-house manufacturing facilities. Ongoing discussions indicate strong partner support on increasing the anticipated scale of production and supply given the enlarged group, DSM-Firmenich, now have access to global manufacturing and distribution capability. "
Seems there's a lot of increased partner interest so they are increasing manufacturing scale further and as it's in-house now for DSM, should be quicker.
We should see now Opti concentrating of selling it this year, hopefully we see plenty of deals being signed throughout the year. I think summer especially will be when we get some decent deals done.
Sweet! :)
More promises.
Not much evidence of actual product
Great rns. Expecting a good day today. Launch seems imminent
They might be right. That RNS looks like a 'wow' to me, but I am a somewhat jaded holder here, so not used to positive sentiment with this one :)
What do others think?
