The sp continues to dip, without reason. Takeover however seems a non starter given family control. Maybe they are content with this sp.
Hi Wigan...yes, sp rather a sad state at the mo. IMHOI really think the company portfolio needs a desperate upgrade. Whilst the company has a great backbone of products, it seems easy to sell same products, along with the ups/downs of trading issues thrown at it yearly, and dish out average dividends, yr on yr. Family complacency.
Maybe a consortium would turn things around, another company with an already diverse portfolio looking to add, but as you say, it is a family business. Having spent time purchasing shares, you would have to wonder would they sell ????? What goes on privately in their households nobody knows. but the sp needs a kick !! Vimto wont hold out forever, although I have almost run out !!
With regards to takeover, the main issue is that the Nichols "family" hold ~ 35% of the shares. Any takeover would require their agreement, and one wonders if they would be willing to sell the firm given their longstanding family relationship.
I suspect that as the trading update only guided for similar 2023 numbers, as 2022, with growth expected in 2024, that we should expect another write down on the OoH business. The results of the strategic review of the OoH business will be disclosed with full year results. Maybe this uncertainty is weighing on the share price.
Multi year lows.
Net cash of £50M
100 year old product
International presence
I very sorry start to 2023 with big dive in sp.
Hi WW.. actually supping hot vimto as I type !! maybe an advert on TV to all those suffering winter colds hot vimto !! As you say, no news is good news !! Here's to Jan update, and a happy prosperous 2023 to all invested here. PLENTY TO COME IMO...
Hi Fred
Interesting that no smoke emanating re new Chairman so far. Also, no news re acquisitions. Should be accumulating cash at a decent rate, and no news probably bodes well. The product recall must be insignificant in revenue terms otherwise we might have got a formal update / warning, so I would expect that 2022 numbers should be top end of forecasts.
If no suitable acquisitions identified, I wonder if the BoD will recommend special distribution to burn up some of the cash pile.
Either way, every time I look at Vimto / Feel Good on the shelves of my local supermarket they appear to be consistently outselling Robinsons Fruit drinks and Ribena, buy a long way.
See what gives in the January update.
sp quite rangebound...can't help but think a new product wouldn't go amiss.....
good luck to those invested, fingers crossed for 2023
totally agreed grapeboy.
This company has until the pandemic been on a significant growth track and made Eps of about 70p which justified the previous much higher share price history to some extent. I agree they are highly valued but for good reason. Strong unique brands , scope for overseas growth, good historic margins, 50m of cash, large family shareholding etc. frustrating they are stuck in range for some time and the spread is huge too which puts people off buying but they pay a fair dividend and will be around for decades to come I think.
IMV - there's too much of a growth hopes built-in into SP, way too much overpriced (at least 3x fold) vs what profitability they are actually delivering, nice to see revenue recovery but such increases administrative costs are red-flagging.
And the same to yourself WW...
Looks a decent update, all things considered...OOH business picking up, with a way still to go to catch up to levels prev seen. cash flow good, maybe now the country is slowly being unlocked momentum should improve. all good............
Hi Fred, happy new year ??
Trading update tomorrow, let’s see if there are any positive surprises. Should be a decent update given the last update guiding above consensus.
and another 6k..............
news due ??
Good morning, slightly off topic but am hosting a webinar for companies that listed in UK in 2021. One of the three companies presenting is The Artisanal Spirits Company, which owns he Scotch Malt Whisky Society. To find out more about the event and register please go to

So Questor of the D T maintains his belief in the company. I trust his judgement but limited support so far.
BERENBERG RAISES NICHOLS PRICE TARGET TO 1,350 (1,200) PENCE - 'HOLD' maybe containers on way !!!
hi Wigan..yep, ok thanks, trust you are similar..
agree, some sort of trading update may well steady the sp..hopefully container shortage will not affect factory output. not tried the vimto cheesecake at Iceland yet though !!
currently all eggs in CHLL..was HNR...awaiting that to take off, maybe when it does I could risk paying higher entry fee here.
Hi Fred, hope all is well with you. I suspect that the market is worried about logistics, and the ability to get the product onto the shelves. However, I haven't noticed any shortage of Vimto products in UK based outlets. There may be some issues with shipping overseas, due to shortage of containers and excessive pricing thereof. I suspect the market has over reacted, but I guess we will need to wait until the trading update to find out for sure. The CEO buying shares a week or two ago is a good sign though.
The shares purchased 3 months ago by our BOD members have now dropped. maybe what they saw as a good short-term future has regressed ?? Been watching this some yrs now, the highs/lows make this somewhat a hard share to jump aboard !!
From an 8pound entry yrs ago to a high of almost 20 pounds, it remains hard to get onboard...shall still keep an eye on !!!!! gl
lol...that HAS to be on my shopping list !!!!!!!!!!!!!! : )
Hi Fred. Seems to me (anecdotally), that VIMTO products are selling very well compared to their competitors when I visit supermarkets, shops etc. I guess we will need to wait for the next update before the market takes any view, one way or the other. You can't fault them from lacking imagination in product development:

:-)
If things in Afghanistan level off, who knows, another outlet in the offing. Looks like the sp has found its level for now.
WW.. seems to be pretty stable since interims....bodes well. GL
