Quite how it will all fit together and who will deal with what is still a bit of a mystery to me tbh, but at least none of it looks like bad news, and hopefully it will improve the regime. This new independent regulatory body seems to be the entity that will actually grant mining licences going forward.
Tapped.
To make its batteries 100% from recycled materials by 2025
', by 2025, magnets in Apple devices will use entirely recycled rare earth elements,'

Its a good trend ,I think :)
TBH it makes complete sense that the mining ministry is the one that deals with granting licenses ...Let us hope the AG is now out of the equation as he certainly was the one self admitting he was holding things up he even seemed to revel in the power of it....
That is an interesting development, may have to start tapping my new ISA pot methinks.
What a nice surprise that the new bill has been passed so quickly. I have a really good feeling that this is going to unlock the MDA for us in the near future. The past few months have been a story of the Mining Minister repeatedly announcing that they are about to sign and then it not happening, seemingly due to the AG. If the effect of the new bill is to take the final authority away from the AG and give it to the Mining Ministry I think we will see progress quickly
Certainly got my fingers crossed for a positive outcome, crumbs!
I think it might be good news that ...as if it means (not 100% sure) that Attorney General is out of the way in the signing of MDAs and it's now down to the ministry they seem a lot more pro MDAs and getting mining up and running ASAP
I guess we all need to hope they have a new Act all ready to go, which will be waived through their Parliament at a similar pace to our politicians, when they waived through the Coronavirus Act in March 2020. Also have to hope it will be positive content as far as our commercial interests stand. Nervy times! GLA.
The bill has been passed today

'Biden team proposes strict vehicle pollution limits to boost EV sales'
https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2023/apr/12/biden-electric-vehicles-pollution-auto-industry
“By proposing the most ambitious pollution standards ever for cars and trucks, we are delivering on the Biden-Harris administration’s promise to protect people and the planet, securing critical reductions in dangerous air and climate pollution and ensuring significant economic benefits like lower fuel and maintenance costs for families.”
“A lot has to go right for this massive – and unprecedented – change in our automotive market and industrial base to succeed,” said John Bozzella, CEO of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation representing General Motors, Volkswagen, Toyota and others.
“Factors outside the vehicle, like charging infrastructure, supply chains, grid resiliency, the availability of low-carbon fuels and critical minerals will determine whether EPA standards at these levels are achievable.”
Independent and anti-corruption :) I am sure it will do exactly what it says on the tin. Ignore me. I am too cynical. Hey ho.
Not the clearest article ever written, but it looks like it's only about creation of a new independent regulatory body. A Malawian anti-corruption thing, rather than extending the scope of the legislation to accommodate MKA's or other concerns. Hopefully no moratorium or delays on new licences/MDAs whilst it progresses. That would probably have to be RNSed.
Indeed, changing legislation does not sound like a speedy process... 6 month delay from here? A year? 2? Any speculation??
Amending legislation does not sound like a quick process. Then you factor in the Africa element and all the risk and uncertainty that comes with this aspect, and it seems positively daunting. No - I am not looking to buy more at a cheaper price. Not cutting my currently small losses here either, but I am watching closely now. The BOD need to get this deal done PDQ.
The 100,000 at 14.43 was a buy
When is he going to be done! FFS, relentless.
Have to admit that if there's talk of them amending mining laws right now then that does rather suggest that they're going to concede to more demands from the likes of MKA.
As ever, who cares about delays but if the deal is ultimately improved by this then all the better/more value on offer.
Yes I’m hoping the fact that our agreement wasn’t signed at the same time as Globe’s indicates the fact that it’s a monster with more favourable terms. We’ll see. IMO this is an absolute steal at this price. 12/24 months could 3/4 bag.
It's not like the company is sleeping lots of potential newsflow from the recycling angle with part of the team in the US where it might not be too long before something exciting develops with COTEC already scoping sights and making connections with players
Maybe delays but hopefully for the better and perhaps explains the recent selling. Still a buy imo.
Good find crumbs
Cant hurt our investment case, the current agreement has been delayed since June 2022 so any change or shake up should be a positive one
More delays. Wish they’d get their act together.

Wasn't an accusation that Mkango wanted to change Malawian law?.. It does seem to me the mining ministry is at odds with the Attorney General who seems to only have the power to grant mining licenses and is standing in the way as it were if that power is handed over to the mining ministry then I reckon the MDA will be done ASAP
