Last chance to buy before tomorrow's results! Share price still cheap! New Chairman announcement -possibly? Suspect Supermarket sales from the Brewery Partnership to reach new highs, with further contracts negotiated in addition to the Stonebridge 10 year deal. Overall sales closer to £1 Billion, debt further reduced toward £1 Billion and Property values post pandemic increasing to be close or over £2 Billion? GLA. ps. If we get an indication of an approach to me that will be a bonus but not surprising considering the share price we are ripe for one!
Disposable incomes on a rising curve, and interest rates on a downward curve, allied with being in the right place at the right time, all whilst being valued so lowly would suggest 100p to be a fair value,in my honest opinion.
There we go, dreams over (nice while they lasted) .. back to 33p - 29p territory
As posted at least twice on this board, the Heineken pub investment news of a week ago was evidence of a radical change of business sentiment toward out-of-city-centre pubs. Which is the bulk (totality?) of the proterty portfolio of Marstons.
A takeover would likely be above 100p per share (IIRC, the highest rejected t/o approach in early 2021 was 105 p per share).
Yes, this is only a return to Jan price so far.
In theory a company with a £900M+ turnover that makes no profit is worthless, if it makes 5% profit it is worth £500M. It is the old story of the difference between two large numbers - revenue & costs.
Again in theory only, a 1% cut in interest rates adds £10M to profit & £100M to market cap.
34.5p does not represent a takeover. I would think it is the market anticipating an OK set of results and an OK outlook - decent results and a positive message will put the shares up towards 40p - a takeover will take the shares far higher. These shares are undervalued but the debt has been a real pull back on the shares. Get this under control and keep moving forward and these will be much nearer £1 within 5 years
This is starting to look interesting after such a miserable few years - whats going on ? do we know , is it a potential takeover or are results tomoz just amazing , surely cannot be that good
Thanks I can wait but looks good here I think the 5 million saving will help bottom line here . I will wait to see what they have to say now
Still can ?
Got mislaid was on this a few days bk at 28 live and learn SHOULD OF BOUGHT

Re-issued an article 3 years old, that is pure dishonesty. Anyone reading the article will think we are in the middle of the Pandemic.
Mind you, I hate to trouble all non shareholders but

Have the article dated on the net for Friday regarding Take over at Marston too, which is when we had massive share buying. GLA.
As I say it looks as if it was re-issued - but we will see not long to see for sure.
Next week half year results, which might even include the Breweries Christmas sales at long last! Who knows!
GLA
Naughty naughty.
That report is over 3 years old. Some clever chump has re=dated to 10th May 2024
Yes and "News Now" have also re-issued a note on 10th May that Platinum Equity advisors have made another approach to Marstons. So we may not have long to wait to see?

Lejjb,,,,wether its wrote by a "bot" or a share holder,a lot of speculation put on these message boards is worth "zilch",,,untill the event happens,
It’s a bot-written article. Worth zilch.
Just seen this on another website, worth a look,,,,,hxxps://simplywall.st/stocks/gb/consumer-services/lse-mars/marstons-shares/news/marstons-plc-lonmars-institutional-owners-may-be-pleased-wit
Will be interesting to see if anything is added to the half year results to give the buyers something further to go on?
It cannot be just that they are bringing out another special Marmite (for Unilever) & the Euro's? haha.
The last one celebrated an Ashes win I understand?
Time will tell but if this has a surprise the share will fall back to £1 a share (the accountants valuation) very quickly.
We can live in hope, but at the moment the market is in a buoyant mood. GLA -enjoy the Sun with a pint!
Who is Hugh?
Just off the bottom is relative. For me though it is 15%+ up on my fit of pique purchases from March and April - 27p was just silly.
The sun is out and as I sat in the garden with my Hobgoblin yesterday evening, I felt considerably better about being "horribly overexposed" to a one share. I am usually disciplined about diversification and trimming individual share holdings if they go over 1% of portfolio - with Martsons though, it is visceral - I have long felt the valuation is irrational.
Still a little way to go to break even overall, but may bank a few £k of 2024 profit on Monday.
Chocks away - I think this is rerating.
Agreed 8.9 Million shares traded compared to the 2.2 Million 90 day daily Average. Which is either in expectation of improved results, or someone knows something already to encourage a lot of buying. Not long to wait and see.
However I suspect it is not all down to just the Sun coming out, but wonder if the Chairman was aware of something before his new job came along at British Land where in the event of a takeover he would not be required?
Who knows, but lets face it at this share price is is still just off bottom and still a long way off what the Accountants feel it is worth on paper. So It will be an interesting week next week I am sure. GLA who have stuck by this share especially if we can now see a long awaited move back up.
The exceptionally high volumes today certainly suggest that something is afoot. Worth watching for a possible rerating or more.
I've held Marstons shares for a number of years now and I've watched these plummet, while my RR shares have risen nicely from the 32p I paid for the majority when things were looking very bad indeed.
Marstons have been a dreadful buy for me, but I've just nibbled in today in the hope that the update on 14th may throw out some 'surprises'. Pure speculation from me at this stage!
Thanks Lejjb for your thoughts :)
Expecting something to be announced with the results on the 14th.
