looking at the last report they released they were very surprised at how well they had done, i suspect this will happen again as they were in a better position expect what might happen and use government funds to mitigate for the stop in direct pub selling points.
the great thing is that due to the summer and that people drink at home they as a business would still have had revenue being generated.
Also to add that the approval of the waivers also gives some breathing space too. I did actually expect the waivers to be denied with the inclusion of BNP Paribas now in the picture. Lets hope that the 10th is not as harsh as initially expected.
can see this happening over the next week, funds buying up the stock and locking in a higher price to shake out the low holders, so that they can sit on this stock into summer and be in a strong position to make good returns.
the size of this company now (Marstons and Carlsberg combined), means they can very easily weather the storm of Covid and keep operating. with the small pubs and breweries in difficulty, this means Marstons are in an even stronger relative position.
By way of a comparitor in the last month the SP of M&B has increased by over 41% and Mars by 37%. M&B are in the FTSE 350.
New posters should examine the details of the JV . Have produced projections previously on the CMBC financials. Mars 40% holding in CMBC, requires, for profits derived from the Brewing side to remain constant, an increase of 22% over the next 5 years is required. Carlsberg UK operate on slimmer profit margins than Marstons. Carlsberg have/are an aquisitive Company seeking market dominance, we are the Junior partner.
Figures to be released in 7 days will disclose the Company's Financial Health, hopefully not as bad as some believe.
This next year is going to be challenging for most in the Hospitality Business, those with robust balance sheets will come through this economic disaster.
AIMO DYOR
Within reason Marston combined with Carlsberg are a "safe-ish" bet. They will be making far better profit margins and the share price has lots of room to bounce back. This is a golden opportunity
I think after a re-evaluation of companies through COVID and placements I am expecting that Marstons will be re-evaluated. Looking at the risers and fallers over a 2-3 period and where they are now I can sense a shift in tables next year to reflect this.
Some will recall 2/3 years ago when we were relegated from the FTSE 350, several Institutions sold . They have protocols in place and only invest in FTSE 100, 250 and 350 co's. Any belief that has changed is misplaced.
Get ready for the load up by the big boys ready for holding in anticipation of the drinks industry kicking back into overdrive
It's a safe as an hospitality and drinks company as can be given this year. If anything having the down turn will help them review and focus. They will bounce back in better form and make more profit margins.
Get ready as the institutions and large fund buy up cheap to sit on.
Brilliant
Well the main point is they are now a company with Carlsberg, this is a massive partnership.
From the most recent press release:
"As previously
announced, the Group did not need to utilise the additional £70 million bank facility secured in
May. In addition, the sale of Marston’s Beer company to the joint venture with Carlsberg UK
Holdings Limited completed in October, generating initial net proceeds of around £230 million,
further reducing the Group’s bank debt"
Basically when the wheels get turning they are in a secure position, have massively reduced debt, and will continue to reduce costs due to the partnership purchasing and share costing.
@Claire smith
Why do you think Mars is still so cheap compared with Mitchell and Butler which seem a lot higher
By combining both businesses they will massively reduce costs of products
Already have a big established market and mature market
And have key channel in place with retailers (supermarkets), and physical locations with Pubs
this share is already getting ready to gear up, hence the jump in price once they passed the competition review, now we are entering the end of the covid era, and people want to party, get ready, can see this easily going to 100 by end of the year with funds consolidating the position while it is very cheap
News on the radio. 100 % genuine. Beer gardens will be packed
Where did you hear that??
Just heard it's going to be the hottest summer on record
I have a considerable holding in MARS.
I strongly believe that we will see a significant rise in the SP by Easter.. Pubs that survive will be booming in the Spring and Summer and next Christmas will be epic.
I can see the SP being £2+ by this time next year.
With a tier review on the 16th Dec give and take a few days, I am hoping we see a reducement in level of tiers across the UK as a whole. Govt knows how much revenue is brought in by the industry and with the announcement of todays news there has to be some compromise in areas bordering the lowest R number. With the BNP Paribas now in the picture and a impacting issue on the waivers I was expecting an RNS today or tomorrow which might see some alteration on the SP but if not then the 10th will for sure have a change in SP.
Cheers Yoyoma... trying to anticipate my entry point - I don’t want to be accused of deramping but if the tier system is still in place - this SP might alter
@Daave - 10th Dec I believe from the RNS posted.
When is the end of year result due for Marstons? Hospitality SP are up across the range - I don’t think many people realise how bad this Christmas is going to be!
I think that's the fairest way. sort out the most vulnerable people first, then the more able bodied.
The vaccine will be given to NHS staff to begin, Care-home staff, then Carehome Residents , elderly and vulnerable people etc.
Daave is correct it will be next year before the main population are vaccinated. According to Matt Han**** the aim being to have everyone vaccinated by Easter. The Pfizer vaccine involves 2 doses, 3 weeks apart. The Vaccine must be store at minus 70c.
Just need the government to have some sort of plan for distribution! I’ll still be next year by the time anyone gets this
For use in UK from next week.
