The existing shareholding for Mars seems quite broadly based (which makes it hard for any bidder to do a "back room deal" with one or two major shareholders):
Hargreaves Lansdown Stockbrokers Ltd. 45,292,000 7.14%
Norges Bank Investment Management 15,690,000 2.47%
The Vanguard Group, Inc. 15,460,937 2.44%
M&G Investment Management Ltd. 15,024,000 2.37%
Hargreaves Lansdown Asset Management Ltd. 13,952,000 2.20%
NFU Mutual Investment Services Ltd. 13,361,627 2.11%
Sanford DeLand Asset Management Ltd. 12,419,000 1.96%
BlackRock Fund Advisors 12,144,000 1.92%
State Street Global Advisors, Australia, Ltd. 12,089,000 1.91%
Capital Research & Management Co. (Global Investors) 9,291,379 1.47%
For many long term holders, an opportunistic bid at these levels will be a disaster.
Hi does anyone know what the short position is here ?
Will find out by end of Feb anyway, but I'm just saying I think the price may well be quite volatile until then
Just thought I'd flip the coin, which does happen
@JoeKenny, I thought the mantra was 'sell the news'
Looking to buy more shares when it goes back sub 80p- which will happen as it dawns on the market that no deal has actually been confirmed (e.g they begin to sell on the rumour before buying on the news)
It sure would
Forget historic share price, a lot has happened since 2015. My guess is anything over £1 will be a bonus. Platinum will be looking at the NAV as stated earlier.
Marston's PLC on Friday confirmed it has received a unsolicited non-binding proposal from US investment firm Platinum Equity Advisors LLC for a possible cash offer for Marston's entire issued share capital
May 2015 the share price was around 170p. Now that would be a nice offer!
The bit about the enterprise value being 2.2B including debt but current market cap is 561m should make for a reasonable offer over the current SP.
INVESTEGATE FOR rns
I agree £1.30 without a takeover is realistic to achieve within a couple of months. Platinum Equity is huge a company and to make bid it a very positive sign that it is worth investing.
Ha ha, thank you very much for your help.
Sorry I always have a read on here, but had to join to ask you the question.
Good luck.
Sure, my nephew Ralph..only joking.
I use an app called ‘Vox Markets’ it usually gives out RNS before LSE. Good luck.
EFlammis - Please could you tell me where you had the statement from?
Thanks
Dropped to 87p to buy, now on way back up 88p to buy now.
I have done a crude calculation of the average price for the four years prior to the pandemic, which comes in at £1.275. Hence my original target of £1.30. Whether or not the bid succeeds, I wont be selling for anything under.
‘At this price’.
SP is only 6% up on month highs. Hardly risky is it. Confirmed takeover interest... should be up another 10% from here just on speculation alone.
thats what i reckon will happen joe
I remain cautious, could well go down before the next announcement
Up to you buddy. I think its worth it but you should always DYOR.
is it worth a top up at this price?
