Yes our reserves were sold off at ridiculously low prices by Gordon Brown from memory. New Labour, same old economic incompetency sadly 🙄

Daily Mail is the world's most popular and most widely read e-newspaper on all of planet Earth. A great British company and success story.
Have another link or two.
London is the world's no.1 city for 9 years in a row. It beat 4 million rival cities and major towns! London is the capital of capitals. The greatest place on the entire globe, bar none.

London this week has picked up yet another major award as the world's no.1 city worldwide for 2024. London is now the capital of capitals. No other major city on Earth even comes close. Looking like another Brexit bonus.

''It seems to me that it is a good thing to reduce the number of shares to what they were before 2007/8''
LBG was formed in 2009. It would take quite some time for share purchase and cancellations to reduce the number of shares to that of the pre LBG entity.
Lloyds have currently bought back equivalent to about 45% of the share count issued to the UK government ( to raise about 70p per share) at a far lower cost than what was raised. A very good bit of business indeed.
Brilliant, but it's not what you earn that matters , it's how much it cost to live a very basic existence , and in this country thats also very high . I am not a socialist but let's be right here , the government need to get a grip of the costs involved and regulate to control the very basics more

''i find it difficult to see how when a share buyback happens and said shares are decommissioned they are then reissued''
replace 'difficult' to 'impossible'
Two separate actions taking place regarding share capital.
Lloyds have been conducting repurchase schemes for immediate cancellation of shares after the purchase process is completed.
Separately as part of staff schemes, new shares are created as and when required to accommodate some remuneration given as shares or the purchase of shares by staff via sharesave schemes.
Lloyds do not currently use shareholder funds to purchase shares in the market to then keep in treasury for either future staff purposes, cancellation or the re issue into the market.
1m buy virgin money, big number for them, glad back in......possibly of interest & good results cometh.
I'm gambling yes.
LONDON, Nov 21 (Reuters) - Britain's minimum wage will increase by 9.8% to 11.44 pounds an hour from April 2024, making it one of the highest as a share of average earnings of any advanced economy

Even with the shares that were re-issued, the net result of this year's buyback is a reduction of 3,118,262,707 shares.
You can always go to another forum??
Love you LTI ☮️😫🤣👍😎😎
New to share dealing, and i find it difficult to see how when a share buyback happens and said shares are decommissioned they are then reissued . This was suggested in an earlier post. Will that not make buybacks ridiculous ?
It seems to me that it is a good thing to reduce the number of shares to what they were before 2007/8 . I find dividends along with a realistic share valuation attractive. But that's me.
Thats last weeks gain wiped out, happens every week with the donkey
LTI for sure that loan was written down. As they say it is the tangled web. HBOS too keen to dish the dosh. Is it Penultimate Investment Holdings that it was secured against?
Regarding the SP of Lloyd. The markets is full of mismatches.
Uk plc not the place to invest as taxes too high. As was in the earlier article £1.9trillion pulled over the pas 23yrs and the big boys are worried no one want to invest anymore.
See what Mr Hunt he pulls from his hat tomorrow.
War in Ukraine rumble on. Av age of Ukraine troops now reported at 43. Whole generation of young men all gone. Is a terrible thing.
Now we has the Middle East kicking off... We needs a statesman to bring this to an end but wars mean big monies for some.. You know what |I am saying?
There has been a dividend of about 2.4p paid in that time so about level some ftse100 shares have performed worse not easy to actually make some real money in this market

Where is the November rally.
21/11/22 Lloyds SP was 45.51. So quite a bit off that so far this year.
Come on Santa pull that fat finger out.

Yes , the loan was written down. The amount now expected to be returned will exceed the write down amount.
The market is aware of events.
LTI, if its been written down there will be an element of write back!
Hard, I believe its an Hbos loan? I would be amazed if it didn't have a provision of some out against it otherwise its a big hit if it went pop in one go. Think about the provisioning for mortgage arrears this year against a £400b mortgage book, £1.3B provision or around that amount.. The telegraph loan is massive and would be provided for somewhere and its a very old loan..
Seany
Nothing has been agreed yet as far as I am aware? And if Lloyds do accept Barclays revised offer, will it actually be an extra £1.16B cash for the balance sheet? Or is it already itemised in the accounts of the loan book as an outstanding loan? Or is it a loan that had previously been written off as a loss?
