Super results and the reinstatement of a dividend is a nice add on.
Well placed to do very well indeed these summer holidays.
10 days time or so and its the English and Welsh school holidays and the start of the family getaways.
Pretty much in line with forecasts, isn't it, so already priced in?
Anyway, we're back from Turkey now and I was seriously impressed with Jet2 when compared to TUI.
Fantastically short queuing times at Brum and Dalaman airports, more legroom, much better baggage allowances and I'm sure the flight times were shorter. It was also nice to see an actual rep at the hotel too.
For a long while now, I've had the impression that TUI are more and more treating their customers like cattle and I'm struggling to see how I'll use them again.
If my opinion is typical (and I suspect it probably is) it's difficult to see how Jet2 won't take more market share off TUI.
Dividend.
Despite having absorbed delay and associated compensation costs in excess of £50.0m as a direct impact of the broader disruption seen across the aviation sector and its supply chains in mid-summer 2022, Group operating profit increased by 222% to £394.0m (2022: £323.9m loss).
*
Total cash balances at the year-end of £2,624.7m (2022: £2,228.5m) increased 18%. 'Own Cash'† which excludes advance customer deposits, increased by 4% to £1,127.1m (2022: £1,083.8m).

In view of the positive financial performance and in keeping with its previous principle of paying a moderate dividend, the Board has resolved to pay a final dividend of 8.0p per share
The rebound in consumer confidence to travel helped underpin a significantly improved financial performance as Group profit before FX revaluation and taxation increased to £390.8m† (2022: £376.2m loss†) which was 48% higher than the pre-Covid financial year ended 31 March 2020 reporting period.
*
Jet2.com flew a total of 16.22m (2022: 4.85m) single sector passengers, an increase of 234%, with higher margin package holiday customers representing 64.9% of overall flown passengers (2022: 51.3%) which was also 13.2 ppts higher than 2020.
Boom
:)
Dream on!
Tomorrow will see record profits I’m 100% sure. Hopefully that will reflect in the share price £20 plus is easily where this company needs to be trading.
Yesterday's article:
https://www.cityam.com/jet-2-set-for-bumper-profits-as-brits-opt-for-better-weather-and-warmer-seas/
I read an article yesterday that suggested that the UKs economy is so resilient because many are sat on money they haven't spent since the pandemic. Holiday refunds etc. It was backed up with the explanation that people in the US have massively dipped into savings, whereas people in the UK haven't yet. I suspect there's something in that.
I think what Covid showed everyone, life is too short and people will most certainly take holidays abroad you never know what's around the corner. I think people are cutting back elsewhere so maybe not eating out as much etc so they can still go abroad for their holidays and enjoy the sun. Will be an interesting update, I have a small amount here but looking at latest predictions thinking of topping up even at current levels as I think next trading update will be very good!!
From yesterday's CITY AM (26 June 23) "Best of the Brokers" column: "Declining fuel costs are poised to help budget airline Jet2's finances take off. That's according to analysts at broker Peel Hunt, who think clients should buy the firm's shares, which have already climbed 25% so far this year. Aided by a strengthening pound raising demand and reducing cost of imports, Jet2 should soar in 2024 and 2025."
Yes, good point. Holidays probably will fall. But that's a good while off, imo. I'm currently in Turkey and the flight was full. I'm expecting good trading updates, as people holiday regardless of the state of things, in an effort to partly make up for Covid.
Hopefully we'll see a decent bounce soon.
Your Little Englander mentality is the very reason Scotland will leave this unequal union - so gies peace. We’ve been dragged out of the EU against our will, have a tory gov inflicted upon us and you steal our energy yet have the red neck to abuse us.
People like you who have destroyed the UK.
Never in my 54 years have l seen such a shambles yet you’ll probably still vote Tory at the next election.
Markets are shaking their head in disbelief at the utter f’wittery of it all.
Yeah we hope you leave UK real soon... Good riddance...you have crap national football team and crap domestic leagues..... snp .....been caught out too
Children , get off the site and give it back to the grown ups.
you’re clearly an idiot scaff.
try comparing achievements.
being part of the uk is destroying scotland’s economy.
you knee******s make me sick
Yes Only Holyrood snp/greens are worse
Tories strangling the life out of mortgage holders - market responds by assuming holidays will fall.
The economics from London are absolutely honking.
Wtf?

Just generally a good day all round or is it read across from Ryanair?
Just arrived in Dubrovnik from Leeds Bradford airport. End of half term so not many family's, but airport was chocka, flight almost full, cabin crew said they'd been busy all year and summer looking busy. My family really the Jet2 experience. I'm sticking a chunk of my SIPP into this, great LTH / recovery at these prices
On the back of a Shares magazine recommendation.
I didn't realise that Jet2 have now become bigger than TUI.
As it happens, I'm going to Turkey with them in a few weeks, after years of always going with TUI.
Here's hoping for a good experience, which I'm sure it will be.
