Share price as increased around 5% in the last week and that was in anticipation of the 17th of May lift of some travel restrictions (and penalties, etc).
We all (including market) knew that the list was not going to be as all expected, if the whole covid situation would have been better in all countries the sp would have been 20% up!!
SP today is the same as a month a go and we are in a much better position going forward.
From now on the list will just increase as well as SP.
Adding US soon will take us to 2.30+
All good
Wow that does bode well!!
The thirst for travel is certainly there!!
We love to travel, but we will probably go crazy next year. Partners 50th so Orlando and I am hoping to get a Vegas trip with the lads again.
If I am honest I am happy to wait till next year as so much catching up to do with people this year I am happy to enjoy whats on my door step.
Though I wouldnt rule out a winter trip if things open up and continue to look positive. I think alot are thinking like me but those forward bookings are still revenue for airlines.
Looking at the seat map, I'm not sure it'll be all that quiet!
Business Class is still 100% full (I was expecting some people would cancel). I can do my job from anywhere with an internet connection so 5 days not being in the office wont harm me.
Hope you manage to get away soon!
I did contemplate switching to Portugal but the prices are unreal. I hope all airlines make the most of the greenlist status and double/ treble the amount of flights to Faro etc - perhaps utilise some of the wide body aircraft, they can easily fill them!
Portland,
I dont blame you. If I was retired or worked from home I would jump at the chance. Quiet beaches, a huge change of scenery.
Hope you have a safe and great trip!
I agree Buff.
I've decided to bit the bullet and take my trip to the caribbean next week. I'll do the test to release on return so its only 5/6 days in quarantine which is worth it for some r&r
There were no real surprises in the green list from the build up speculation in the press. But as I was saying to my partner,
Those that are retired or work from home, flying to an amber country is no real drama. So long as they happy to isolate at home on their return.
Although it's only a small number of countries on the green list, its a start. With a review every 3 weeks it won't be long until more countries are added. The UK Airlines and travel industry will also be lobbying hard for more countries to be added. It will be a different picture by peak school summer holidays July / Aug time. Will be interesting to see how SP behaves next week. GL All.
Interestingly just booked a flight to Portugal next month. Price tonight was same as last night? Ryanair from Edinburgh cheap as chips. Just hope I’ve had second jag first. Onward and upward, plenty gains already this year and more to come. Photome up 53 % could fill a suitcase with gains. DYOR
Fugazi can keep looking at the Bollinger bands...we'll all be drinking Bollinger!!! :)))))
wonder what fugazi's moving averages and bollinger bands think of this news
As long as ONE country is on the green list, 60million will be going there on holidays in May-June!!! Flights will be full..see you all in Portugal soon!!
from sky news:
Travel companies see 'frenzy of activity'
Steve Witt, co-founder of Not Just Travel, said the green list announcement has prompted a "frenzy of activity".
He said their phones and emails have been going full pelt and his consultants are planning to work late into the night and throughout the weekend because they are getting so many enquiries about holidays.
"Bookings to the green list countries are forecast to break sales records over the next 48 hours and weeks ahead," he said.
It's a start..looking forward to monday a.m.
have a safe weekend..
After seeing the list, I think the opening will be delayed until June for sure now and US may be until end of June first week of July.. we could see a very short lived drop bk to 203/05 next week before a steady move towards 2.30 and with good updates in couple of weeks we could be on our way to £3
