VW group certainly are betting big on them with their JV with Quantumscape.
Quantumscape have $4.5bn in cash to bring the technology to mass production. Their timeframe is test cells to VW in 2022, full test packs in test vehicles 2023 and mass manufacture 2024/25.
Toyota did a news brief on solid state they are available but the price is Horrendous. Anyway aito toyada has stated Toyota will not be producing EV at scale so that's out of the window. Also the small matter of raising a couple of hundred billion for moving from the lab to a fully functioning production line. If solid state was viable TESLA would have it instead of the 4680 cell.
As with everything they will produce them at scale and hey presto your bull**** tech will becone economic and commonplace. The benefits it brings them become the expected norm (range, energy density, safety, weight etc..) and other older tech begins to wither.
I was in SOLG it dropped from 12p to about 1.8p.Very nervous times but when offtake was announced it peaked at 28p in about 4months(if memory serves me right). The parallel with HZW is uncanny.
Solid state batteries are bullsh**te tech unless you want to spend about £120, 000 on a Toyota Carroll's sized car.
I wish you genuine holders would stop feeding this deliberate deramping/ trolling header ? ?
You surely have to question the real motive here, why would you invest in HZM and allow this insane deramp, Disgraceful & Disingenuous…..
Now Shut The Front Door On This
News Soon Followed By A Massive Re-Rate
Booooooom
StrummerJones
yes mate... been some interesting music shows on the old days bbc4 and sky arts....
cut back on HZM for the moment tracking averages etc but still very much here and sticking around
ATB
Hi Music....
Doing OK thanx. Trust the same?
Have to admit, N despite Wasa reassurance, feeling a little perplexed, that so far, and several weeks on, n after that great RNS that its not recovered back much & in anticipation of phase 3?
However, it doesn't phase me overly TBF.
After all, This is still AIM, and so very much always a fashion show ongoing.. . You step out of the spotlight for 5 minutes, and someone else will take it over, no doubt...
So for me it's a win win though. As come mid Nov I have more decent funds coming. N amongst others, this is a top up target still despite my current average.
If it uprates in meantime, am happy. But if we still wait, will add most likely.
Just my thoughts.
Cheers.
Agreed Wasa. What I keep coming back to in my head is the market caps of other miners such as SOLG (£617m) and GGP (£696m) which are still both very much in the exploration phase and as I see it, further behind in the value curve yet valued way higher than we are currently. No disrespect to those companies, I'm not bashing them in any way, more trying to illustrate how undervalued I see HZM. Surely this just has to re-rate upon final closure of the whole finance package.
Sj wouldn't worry too much about the sp. It's wrong. The market often gets it wrong. It was wrong at 2p and given what is going on right now in the market (nickel, m&a), and what horizonte have already told us, its wrong at 8p now. All imho. Oh and tesla is a trillion dollar mcap co..... (which is nuts. Suspect market got that wrong the other way but wtfdik).
hi strummer
hope you are keeping well :)

Hi dj.
As said a few weeks back. Not posting much in here anymore. But still following my investment from a distance.
Trying to see this one, & after the 5 great bank announcements in finance phase 2, as a pretty much (without counting chickens yet) a done deal...!?
However; its still interesting that we seem stuck in this 8 to 8.5 range trading with FOMO generally.... missing out....!!
Despite a few decent buys, and strongish twitter presence again, it's still flat.
I hold no real truck with conspiracy theorys, but as said previous, it's almost like it's being "managed" into the next phase....
Interesting...
Next significant move in battery cells for EVs is almost with us.
BMW, Ford, Toyota and other big players (via Quantumscape and others) have invested heavily in Solid State batteries.
These batteries replace the anode with solid lithium but crucially for us still have a nickel rich cathode.
https://www.electronicdesign.com/markets/automotive/article/21164198/electronic-design-solidstate-batteries-poised-to-dominate-evs-in-2022
Replacing the current graphite anode in these cells is one reason why I exited my position in ACP.
Just relax and take some deep breaths.
High nickel batteries are still going to be needed in vast numbers, the higher energy density and higher power plus lower weight means they will be needed in all sorts of vehicles and equipment with high usage. So heavy trucking vehicles delivery vehicles small trucks, big and small vans, utility vehicles sued by farmers, tradesmen and the self employed will all use high nickel batteries because their attributes make them much more suitable for such vehicles. Most cars are in use much less than 10% of the day so LFP is fine especially as it is a very durable battery and can be fully charged and discharged without causing premature degradation which goes some way to closing the gap on high nickel batteries which have a sweet spot between roughly 20% and 80% charge without reducing the battery lifetime significantly.
Since this is not new news, the Nickel market must have been aware, and as far I can see there has not been much negative effect.
I think the nickel price would be the most sensitive market to this kind of news and it doesn’t seem bothered, so I don’t think we should be either.
Hi fpvone
I’ve taken in quite a few Sandy Monroe videos of Tesla tear downs. Very experienced and switched on he doesn’t pull his punches.
TDT
Yes and also several others on battery tech as have an interest in batteries as I run my house on a 23/kwh 60volt battery(home built). Also I am a musketeer I think he is the best engineer to hit this planet. I have a large position in Tesla so anything battery or supply related to EV I look at. Mr gesity(limiting factor) is a very good researcher he has some cracking vids on battery tech a must watch for me. As were name dropping have a look at sandy Monroe that's an eye opener.
fpvone
So you've watched "The Limitting Factor" video on th relative merit of LFP-vs-NCM? For anybody who hasn't seen it yet:-

Any premium model of car will be using NCM This is for the power density of pack. Lfp operates at about 3.3v/cell and NCM at 3.7v better energy density. Also better current flow from internal chemistry. But LFP has better degradation curves so at about 2 years in not much difference between them in normal use. Catl the cell maker claims their LFP pack will last a million miles
So no problems from that front. LFP treated right will cycle 3500 times before hitting 80% capacity. MCM is about 1500 cycles. So the 16% performance hit of LFP means nothing really unless you want high performance.
Don't you love spell check???
Interesting that Elon won’t be using LFP in his Top of the Range Models and LFP degradation rates are extremely high in the first 6 months ?
At the end of the day the customer will decide Quality over cost and each will have there own market place / share.
You get what you pay for in life , Buy Cheap Buy Twice …. Simples
Massive queues have been reported recently in China due to the number of cars wanting to recharge and the lack of infrastructure for them to do so. Batterys with twice the distance would halve the recharging needs
fpvone
The move into LFP by Tesla and various OEMs makes an awful lot of sense. There's simply not enough nickel to satisfy the rapidly emerging market for EVs so something had to give. Another spike similar to 2007 does nobody any good.
Nickel rich batteries will still be in demand but the areas where their properties are best suited will not be the low end of the market. Tesla's supply deal with BHP and their involvement in Goro suggests to me a long term committment to nickel rich batteries.
This is a move that investors in Horizonte should applaud. An insane spike in the price of nickel now would simply result in the same reaction we saw back in 2007/8 the effects of which cut across both class1/2 as well as laterite/sulphide. Nickel would get thrifted out of batteries altogether and the market for stainless steel would move from series 300 to 200 in the same way that demand for series 300 moved from 316 to 304 during the last spike.
Slow and steady wins the race.
