2020: HSS have just had to raise £54m to avoid breaching covenants. It is closing 134 branches.
2019: HSS sold the UK Platforms part of their business to raise £60.5m
2018: HSS renegotiated it refinancing arrangements
2017: Following a £13m fundraising in Dec '16 (to avoid breaching covenants - again) it announced a strategic review of its business.
HSS is not an investment, it's a gamble on an recovery of an HSS business. The hire trade is a cut throat business sector. There is enormous competition out there. Everyone is struggling to survive. I know. I've been in it for nearly 30 years. Look at the share charts. Look at the accounts. Look at the debt. Look at the miniscule profits. Look at the cash/debt positions. Look at the Auditors opinions. HSS is high risk but good luck to those is stay on board. There's far easier money to be made by investing, not gambling. This is only going one way.
Honestly don't know. But I'm positive as I'm here with 500,000 shares, well as positive as one can be under the circumstances. All my other shares have done well this past month so had been looking for one that had to play catch-up really.
What’s your view with Hss within the next 3 months?
UK economy not to make full recovery until 2022, now there's a surprise not. Problem is the rebound is slowing but again no surprise due to lockdown. Once the lockdowns are outta the way then it's off to the races until then fill yer boots on anything under 10p imho.
Agree, its likely to have a good run at some point, cannot understand anyone selling for 10p a share, its a gift!
Moving to aim on 14/01/21
Under 20% in private investors hands.
Early Xmas present?
They don't want money tied up when they switch from the main market to aim I guess. Even though that's only going to be a few days.
Why are the loose holders selling everyday near and just after 4.30 pm? Is it the market-makers (or people near to them)? Could they have taken up a lot of the slack in the open offer?
Getting hammered at the close today maybe tomorrow a buying opportunity?
Yes, vaccines flowing, brexit deal likely, no brainer to load up around here and wait for the recovery.
Recovery bound to happen in 2021 even for HSS. They've obviously learned from the past year and are gearing up to do more business online plus streamlining the business until it picks up. This should be reflected in the next quarters results?
All looking good for a read across here.
All buy's at 10p would be their rights entitlement?
+500,000 shares for Tom Shorten

Total = £268,770 Directors buy
Blimey BarcelonaBill, I'm guessing you haven't bought in recently.
Directors etc had all agreed to buy in when ri rns was announced, so no new news I don't think.
Yes its a recovery play, albeit a risky one - but its further to climb than further to fall. Risk v reward for me.
This will get moving soon enough.
Sure isn't Boris's way out of this mess is to provide big construction contracts all over the UK. Do you not follow Balfour and Costain? After the Covid is it not the idea to hit the ground running? Cheer up it might never happen..
Takeover target??? MCap now £26m. Who, tell me, in their right mind, is going to buy £200m+ of net debt, for any price??? Have any of you even looked at the HSS last accounts? Have you even read the ‘going concern’ statement?
Recovery? Recovery in the economy = an increase in the bank rate = more interest to be paid on its debt, over and above the £13m-£ 18m it’s already costing per annum.
HSS only keep their heads above water because of the support of their Shareholders and Creditors. II Shareholders who are already in up to their necks, (bought in at 210p and have since seen their capital investment all but disappear), not you PIs who are just gambling on some pie in the sky recovery.
Discuss! Please!!
Just bought into HSS this morning. Hoping it can only go one way and feel the basics are right for a recovery. Good luck.
Agree, there are lots of reasons to be buying at these prices, recovery, takeover, stakebuilding.... Vaccines rolling out HSS will be busy
Market Cap 70m after increasing the coffers by 50m rights issue which valued company at 20m prior, has to be regarded as in the takeover cross hairs just now IMHO?
Small correction, it was 239,035 at 10.38p, well it is a no brainier after all?
Bought in small yesterday at 10.37p, only got 239k odd at that price however all good fun.
Very few will have averages starting 10.*
A fantastic entry point. Personally dont think it will be here very long, now the business is fully funded should see a move back towards 15 - 17p
