Before we know it
I agree. If you don't want to give your email address, don't give your email address! Simple!
Giving over your email address is well worth it I just received a £10 offer code and spent it pronto, popped into the store and collected my freebies.
I'd be astonished if the Executive Directors didn't take this golden opportunity to make inroads into the requirement to hold shares worth 2 x base salary.
Make that 2.8%, seems to me moving up quick now.
Looks like we have some interest!
Also hopefully a director or two will buy some after yesterdays drop.
Would not be surprised.
give us back say 6% of the 16% that disappeared yesterday!
What a joke
As with the 30% drop after the recent results, the shares were marked down (unfairly) by the market makers from the word go, following which the herd instinct - to which HFD seems particularly prone - kicked in.
A lot went on yesterday, downgrades, fear of recession, oil price up... What's the pe now!?
If considerable support is provided by the gov for energy bills, this would result in a huge rebound in retail, possibly it would remove the risk of a deep recession, if you believe in a upside surprise ref support, buy retail... Dyor!
was I think for most people "out of the blue" and I have yet to find a solid explanation. Anyone? Picked up a small amount yesterday as maybe another large player will fill part of the void.
All IMHO.
No one walks out of the auto centre without paying .. but someone can walk out of a retail store with a £1500 boardman .. maybe when they closed some of the retail stores it’s the start of a shift to online only for retail & go hard on the automotive & mobile side of things
No but the retail part is the bit that worry’s me, I don’t think there spending on it, maybe they move it to online only ? Cut loose all the retail stores .. move some of the staff in auto centres etc
& stop asking for a good Dam email address at the till .. I just want to get in and out quick not get held up in a queue at the till .. if I want to sign up to emails that offer £5 off a £300 item I will sign up myself
This isn’t just retail this has one of the largest approved maintenance networks in the U.K.. franchise dealerships are dying apart from your prestige marks.
This is an absolute steal - fundamentals fundamentals fundamentals it’s all noise
Just a IMHO thought on the future
Summer holidays will be over .. everyone would of spent there money .. kids will be back to school .. hours will get cut back .. energy prices will sore in October .. Christmas will be quiet .. new year will come in with a bang with record inflation .. unfortunately I think we’re sleep walking into some quiet times .. & I love halfords I really do I’m a LTH but it’s going to be a long road to recovery for a lot of businesses
"Lease interest payments last year were £9m... how much is it going to go up by?"
Yes, but the lease interest is only a small part of the lease expense - there's also £69.9m depreciation of the "right of use" assets to take into account.
However, I'm not sure what the "leasing pressures" are that Panmure are on about (I haven't seen their note). Maybe some of the lease payments are adjusted upwards for RPI?
I've been taking a good look at this one since the plunge on results a few weeks back. Was sort of annoyed as didn't buy back then & it sailed away to 180+. This drop doesn't really surprise me. This was bucking the trend across the retail armageddon more or less across the board. This is a good company with a good set of financials & a nice divi too. I held off buying today as while i've no doubt this could multibag in time if retail stocks trend is anything to go by i expect this will fall some more before the inevitable bounce!
Be interesting how much panmure was a buyer today. Im a LTH I bought more in run up to ex divi and sold some day before as I felt it would drop. I was wrong then but today is an absolute gift and I started filling my boots (isa and sipp) as the drop continued. The lower it goes I'll carry on. Yes a retailer in some respects but their move into electric car servicing I feel is the way forward. Broker recommendations are about as much use as a Neil Woodford. Charlatans the lot of em
but I have been wrong once before, a few years back. LOL!
Yes, the board had better start talking the company up at the forthcoming update, instead of the usual gloom.
Excellent post Matt that drop was just astonishing given just how slick this company is. I layered up with four tranches today.
I was looking to buy in the 1.80’s before the divi and I still think that is 30% undervalued :-)
Nothing to see here :-)
LTH but let’s have it for a quid on open in the morning ftse lads
