Great result, Guild Rainpro has won through in Street Fighter 6, Dreamhack Sweden to win a spot in the EWC Riyadh.
So Guild will be competing in SF6 EWC Riyadh.
GILD, KRPZ and INHC all rallying and in the top 20 very nice to see......world cup start soon
It was also done/RNS'ed earlier in the week
taken the market 3 days to catch up
British esports organisation Guild Esports has disclosed in a form filed with the London Stock Exchange that a Dubai-based investor has acquired about 66.7m shares, totalling 8.28% of voting rights shares in the company.
The shares were acquired by Mr. Koshy Vinod. The acquisition makes him the third largest shareholder in Guild Esports, per a list of significant shareholders on Guild’s website.

Completely agree. Guild seems to be betting everything on one event (EWC) which ends in 2-3 months. I see no viable long-term strategy. They’ve gone from fielding Top 10 esports teams with real relevancy/sponsorability to Top 100 teams that are mostly irrelevant.
Can only assume the cost of salarying these teams will be outweighed by participation / winnings in the EWC but it’s so short term it’s. There’s not a single player at Guild that has any real long term connection to the organisation that I can think of, so what are fans supposed to be following?

What is quite cool, by sheer luck fortune or skill, IF somehow GILD won Fortnite, FIFA and lets say Rennsport - then irrelevant of points they would have three title wins under their belt, even if one of the larger Esports teams won 2 events and finished 2nd in every other event, and had more points than GILD, we would take home the $7m USD. So quality over quantity is also a factor.
Not that anybody cares but details for the EWC have been released
Participation requirement - A Club needs to reach the top 8 in at least two competitions to be eligible to participate in the Club Championship.
Winning requirement - A Club needs to reach first place in at least one competition to be eligible to win the Club Championship and become the best Club in the world. In the case that the Club with the most points has not achieved this, first place will go to the Club that has accrued the most points whilst meeting this requirement.
Alongside this, it’s worth noting that Clubs can only earn points for participants that were publicly stated as part of the organization before the deadline at 23:59 AST on Friday May 31 2024. This includes competitions where the qualification or invitation occurs after that date
Points Breakdown
All competitions in the Esports World Cup offer the same number of points, rewarding Clubs that consistently perform at the highest level across the board. More Clubs competing in more game titles means more competition and many more unforgettable moments in esports history.
1st 1000 2nd 600 3rd 350 4th 200 5th 110 6th 70 7th 40 8th 20
With $20,000,000 up for grabs for the 16 most successful Clubs, all will have their eye on the grand prize of $7,000,000
2nd $4m USD 3rd $2m 4th $1.5m 5th $1.25m 6th $1m 7th $800K 8th $600K 9th $450K 10th $350K (11th-16th $250/150K)
Not a fan of the prize money allocation, I think they should have dropped the $7m GP to $5m and second place to $3m and bumped up the rest of the placement money
#GILD needs to finish in the top 10 to make any significant money
Although we are very good at FIFA, Fortnite and Rennsport
We are OK at Tekken and Street Fighter
Deadline for EWC players is 31st May so expect GILD to make more RNS signings before then (I Hope!!) we need to be in as many tournaments as we can
Still is 30 mins later.

Yes snow1y great to see Chico, Charyy, Voltiax and Blacha all through to the Finals
Excellent result for Guild’s semi final Fortnite players.
Guild’s Chico, Charyy, Voltiax and Blacha all win a spot, securing their places with their duo’s to the Fortnite Grand Final.
Example:
https://x.com/eswcgg/status/1788916999705300993?s=46&t=fo4YOiRU-x4N5EEpe5bwCQ
$2m purse for Apex Legends (btw Guild no longer competes in this title)
$600K for first place
80-90% of the $600k goes to the players
Which nets $60-$120K for Guild
The $5m referenced earlier represents the aggregate purse across the titles Guild competes in at EWC.
The $20m Club Championship purse is in addition to this, but only applies toward the Top 16 teams. So technically Guild has a chance to earn additional $$$, but given 1) how few titles they compete in vs their competitors and 2) how uncompetitive their teams/players are, it’s a long shot that Guild makes the Top 16 (let alone Top 5).
We’re reading different threads - Copy & pasted. I cannot see where you pulled $5m from:
The Club Championship, an innovative cross-game competitive format unique to the EWC, will award a total of $20 million to the top 16 clubs based on their overall performance. The Club Championship is a new format focusing on multi-game competitions, with each Club selecting the games they want to compete in. At the event's conclusion, the Club with the best performance across various game championships will be crowned the world's first Esports World Cup Club Champion.
The remaining prize pool will be divided into three additional distribution categories: Game Championships, MVP Awards, and Qualifiers. Each of the 20 Game Championships will have their own prize pool with a combined total exceeding $33 million. In addition, a $50,000 MVP Award will be awarded to a standout participant in each competition. More than $7 million will be awarded before the Game Championships start, as teams and athletes compete to qualify for available tournament spots across eligible qualifier events run by partnered Publishers and event organizers.
No, Guild only competes in the following EWC titles:
Street Fighter ($1.1m total purse)
EAFC ($1.1m total purse)
Counterstrike ($1m total purse)
Fortnite ($1m total purse)
SIM Racing ($500k total purse)
Plus misc club/player bounties
That’s ~$5M total, but bear in mind 1st Place is around 40% of the total purse, then Guild needs to pay out 80-90% of those winnings to the players. So best case, Guild would only be entitled to ~$200k-$400k.
https://files.bo3.gg/uploads/image/39996/image/webp-3c515e2683d4f3b7629a1b2d23fece0f.webp
I personally have huge concerns with the irrelevancy of the titles they currently compete in, and how poor their team rankings are.
Also, Guild’s entries into SIM Racing, Street Fighter, etc are clearly subsidised by the Saudi EWC Club Program, which is very short-sighted. Building their business around one event is far from strategic (or lucrative). Guild alluded to this partnership mysteriously in the past, but it’s now official.

Guild signs ESL R1 Professional Team Ahead of Esports World Cup
Guild Esports PLC (LSE: GILD; OTCQB: GULDF), a global gaming-focused media business, is pleased to announce that it has signed four professional sim racing drivers to represent the Company in ESL R1, a sim racing championship.
James Baldwin, Bono Huis, Marko Pejic and Matt Emery have signed four-month contracts with Guild and will represent the Company at the upcoming Esports World Cup ("EWC").
James and Bono have been signed on loan from Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports Team ("Mercedes Esports"), the esports arm of one of the most successful teams in Formula One history. Marko and Matt have been signed on loan from Veloce Esports, a highly regarded esports and sim racing team. The four drivers have a significant and growing online audience, with a combined social media reach of over 220,000.
James Baldwin is a British sim racing professional who last year raced for Mercedes Esports in the inaugural season of ESL R1. He has had a glittering sim racing career, winning races in high-profile events including the Le Mans Virtual Series and the eRace of Champions. He was named the 'World's Fastest Gamer' in 2019 after winning the eponymous championship. James has also raced for both Alfa Romeo F1 Esports and McLaren Shadow in Formula One Esports.
Bono Huis, from the Netherlands, is a five-time Formula Sim Racing champion and the winner of the Formula E Visa Vegas eRace. In 2023 he competed for Mercedes Esports in ESL R1 alongside James Baldwin and achieved victories in the Le Mans Virtual Series and V10-R League. Bono has also raced in traditional motorsports, recently testing for the Dragon Racing Formula E team.
Marko Pejic, from Germany, is a seasoned top-tier sim racer. His achievements include finishing as a finalist in Lamborghini's The Real Race 2020, which attracted more than 2,500 drivers from 109 countries, as well as winning races in the highly competitive DTM Esports Championship and ADAC GT Masters Esports Series. Marko has also raced for Mercedes F1 Esports, where in 2021 he was integral to the team's victory in the Constructors' Championship of the 2021 rFactor 2 Formula Pro Championship.
Matt Emery, from Great Britain, has established himself as one of the top drivers on iRacing, a competitive online simulator frequented by Formula One champion Max Verstappen. Jasmine Skee, CEO of Guild Esports, commented: "We are delighted to welcome James, Bono, Marko and Matt to the Guild Family. Their exceptional talent and proven track record in competitive racing

Mates rates days may be behind us??
According to Companies House, there's been a filing today for an allotment of some 66,666,667 shares for the sum of £250k. I think Compassare may have therefore exercised their right under the CLN agreement to take shares - £250k divided by the number of shares gives the conversion price agreed under the terms of the CLN (0.375p). They clearly must believe there's value over and above the return of 8% which they would have received in interest. Interesting, if it's them, that they've done this so early after the CLN agreement...

Just seeing from Twitter (X) that Guild appear to have released their female CS2 team - I'm wondering if they will do the same with the men's team and pivot away from CS2 given poor results and replace with signings of players in more of the sports featured in the World Cup to go after the club prize money? Would seem a pretty sensible move to me... Even if they didn't make a cost saving in the players' wages in signing new players, they'd be able to spread themselves over numerous titles in the WC, thus expanding their presence there - good for potential sponsors.....
Excuse my swing from $ to £ there, point stands!
It's a massive swing Snow and I think the industry has realised that as e-sports grow and these organisers / sponsors get a huge ROI, the clubs need a good percentage of it to survive. The collapse of FAZE from a $1bn valuation to Zero at the end of 2023 really highlighted this and told the industry, pay the clubs or e-sports will plateau.
The increase of the WC CLUB prize money from $5m to $20m this year shows that the industry is moving more towards club prize money, which could be monumental.
A couple years back Guild won the FCNS finals in which the player prize money was $1m, just last year Guilds total PLAYER prize money was $1.2m USD, in which they only made about $126K because most of this rightly so goes to the players. If these tournaments start matching player money with club money, or dare I say even more (like the sim racing tournament) then that $1.2m PLAYER prize money also becomes an additional £1.2m club prize money, which would be very high margin and almost like a $1m USD cash injection for GILD simply out of their existing operations.
As I have said investing in esports clubs is very risky, but at £1.5m cap theres no better RvR play out there on any stock exchange IMO. Of course it could go to zero, but that's the chance I take. DYOR not investment advice.
It’s good to see Guilds progress in Sim Racing.
Let hope more Esports tournaments are going to include Orgs within the prize pool like this one.
Rewarding players but most important rewarding Orgs within the prize pool, that will secure the future of Esports teams.

Nice, Guild are listed in the latest eWorld Cup marketing as one of the main clubs/orgs that will be competing.
Of course Guild are developing female gamers in this Esports growth sector.
Not related to Guild, but female gamers.
https://news.sky.com/story/the-female-gamers-competing-for-thousands-of-pounds-at-first-event-of-its-kind-in-uk-13118646
If other tournaments adopt this approach of directing prize money to orgs as well as players then things here will be a-ok.
Guild’s fornite roster is v.v.good at the moment.
“The Club Championship, an innovative cross-game competitive format unique to the EWC, will award $20 million to the top 16 Clubs based on their overall performance. The Club Championship is a new format focusing on multi-game competitions, with each Club having the opportunity to field its rosters in multiple titles. At the event’s conclusion, the Club with the best performance across various game championships will be crowned the world’s first Esports World Cup Club Champions. “
Even if its a buyout at 5mil, our sponsors cover 3mil a year of that? plus revenues from gild design, whatever it is. still be 5x where we are now. a measley 10-15mil offer is nothing for a saudi prince, and could massively extend their scope.
sticking point i assume would be Sky's involvment.
Savvy Gaming Group is on the expansion path. The Saudi Arabian company has made some big moves, acquiring both esports tournament firms ESL and Face It in a $1.5 billion deal in January
https://venturebeat.com/games/why-saudi-arabias-savvy-gaming-group-is-diving-into-esports-and-games/
1.5billion deal
How much do you think they would pay for guild?
Sports are generally viewed by adults whilst esports target a younger audience. The younger audience doesn’t interact the same way we do may be your best answer.
Because inclusivity is a real money spinner? No one watches women's sports, so why the hell is women's esports going to be any different.

I carnt belive it's under 2p but hey ho that's the stock market
Perhaps they are hoping to attract new sponsors with the teams competitiveness at Riyadh later this year.
This is such an odd share. It has/had so many major sponsors but STILL can't pull itself out of the dumps. To think I first got on board at 6p!!!! I've managed to average down to 1.2p but I refuse to throw more money at what appears to be a lost cause. I had so much enthusiasm for eSports but I appear to have been wrong.
