George Frangeskides, Chairman at ALBA, explains why the Pilbara Lithium option ‘was too good to miss’. Watch the video here.
If other tournaments adopt this approach of directing prize money to orgs as well as players then things here will be a-ok.
Guild’s fornite roster is v.v.good at the moment.
“The Club Championship, an innovative cross-game competitive format unique to the EWC, will award $20 million to the top 16 Clubs based on their overall performance. The Club Championship is a new format focusing on multi-game competitions, with each Club having the opportunity to field its rosters in multiple titles. At the event’s conclusion, the Club with the best performance across various game championships will be crowned the world’s first Esports World Cup Club Champions. “

“already booked 5m for this year(2024) ’. Compared to 5.5m revenue in 2023.
Good spot re. Hargreaves etc.

I think when guild sign a player it considers their social reach to be owned by them. They change their names to Guild Chico for example and apply Guild marketing to profile banners. Guild Eagles have 38k followers and then the individual players have their own social media followers, just for example. 1.7million seems a lot but if you went through all the different guild related branches it may well be feasible
“London is a leading destination for esports, and it’s fantastic that we will host the League of Legends World Championship Finals next year,” said Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London. “It will bring together esports fans from across the globe and also showcase our capital’s cutting edge gaming industry. I will continue to do all I can to support esports development and growth in London, as we build a better London for everyone.”
The infrastructure here is great. Building a fan base with the youngest generation of esports fans will take time but guild will be in the right place.
London’s biggest esports team is undoubtedly FNATIC who Forbes last valued at 200million. They were established in 2004. Guild will need patience but payoff could be very decent
True but I don’t think most of the business would come from individuals but if the sports organisations they already work with take up graphene wear for whole squads and staff then the knock-on effect could be interesting. Agree though that there still feels like a long long way to profit.
For the individual I’m not sure the name ‘graphene-wear’ is not quite appealing enough. Thinking about Gore-Tex etc
You may be each referring to different sources, the claim on X is ‘all’ pro training pieces

Pretty chuffed to see this Guild/Sky hosted tournament which happened earlier this evening has registered 86000 views so far. Very solid audience figures.

The share price is disappointing, that’s not same thing as the company being disappointing.
Company hasn’t really put a foot wrong since Jasmine Skee took over.
I’m taking the patient long view on this now that the cash burn has been steadied and shrewd, forward thinking appointments made.

I agree with you up to a point:
"**Guild's core product, esports, has been absolute rubbish. The Rocket League team finished this season in 13th place / The Fortnite team is currently 21st / their best FIFA player is 7th / SIM Racing is completely irrelevant / and their womens Valorant & CSGO teams seem to play every 4 months."
Yes and No. They missed out on the new Valorant format which led to the disintegration of the men's team. Former Guild player Leo has won back-to-back titles with FNATIC, so yeah that was an opportunity missed. A cushion for this was meant to be a focus on the women's team (the main focus of the HQ street art in Shoreditch) but that has imploded v.recently. Appear to be exiting Valorant when it's one of the most popular esports.
Fortnite, they're still strong, Anas is one of the best. Hen hasn't had a great season but they have academy players now playing professional events which is true to the plan. Rubyplays for example,
Rocket League, sure the current roster is v.average. But again some hope in the academy.
CS:GO - new team, too early to say
FIFA - one of the best players in NIcolas99fc, but doesn't have the social media engagement of other perhaps weaker players.
"**Audience: Guild's socials continue to haemorrhage users for the second consecutive year. This point is one of the scariest, because it's what sponsors rely on."
Haemorrhage is not quite right the word. To say either remained stable or stagnated slightly would be more accurate. I had neglected Tik Tok and the views for Guild content on Tik Tok are huge compared with other platforms such as Twitter.
"**Merchandise: Again, completely non-existent sales and revenue."
Not a fair point really. Signed a deal with Hummel this year and announced that merchandise range would be launching in the Autumn.
Guild definitely need to be playing esports tournaments more regularly but they are at least seeking to differentiate with a focus on women's esports players (CS:GO, Fortnite). The new CEO Jasmine is undoubtedly a better business person than Kal was and in just 6 months has steadied the finances greatly.
It's worth noting that FNATIC, who Guild really need to match, formed in 2004. It will need time and patience but under current management this looks better than it ever has.
Interesting RNS re. Morgan Stanley today too.
"Guild has a strong pipeline of potential sponsorship deals and continues to pursue new business opportunities, some of which are at an advanced stage of negotiations. The release of inventory and other rights from the Bitstamp deal will enable the Company to pursue similar contracts with other sponsors". Engagement with crypto content on the Guild social channels was never good. Just a 4.25m market cap now. Next 12 months will be interesting
