I was talking about public displays by councils and other organisations. As to the Guy Fawkes comment, hello moderators, bye bye thread.
Fireworks a plenty will be lit in my garden. Some others may try a Guy Fawks approach this year with the way Parliament is behaving.
You got me thinking again, so I checked. It looks like fireworks and bonfires are banned this year because of Covid. Just as well really. The last thing the NHS needs is more work from bonfire/firework injuries. I wonder what countries will decide about New Year fireworks.
Great news Mushy. What part of Portugal will you be calling home?
That's ok, TomE :))) I love anything with ginger in it - and golden syrup and treacle - and butter ...... Ahhh.
Drusus, how's your diet? Lost any more weight? Mine's plateaued at 1st 12 lbs off.
Jet hi,
sorry post crossed :-)))
Viking hi,
My Mum used to make em and they were the best, here is a recipe. Great for Firework night and a beer to flush em down lol.

Scrummy!
GoldenI..haha. I am an old hand at trading old gold teeth fillings. However, I am now out of stock. Plus, all the drilling I am interested in is not to be found at the dentist.....

Hope you get to have gold fittings - just take a lesson from Blenheim on where to stop.
Matty, just today we settled on a price for the 'soon to be named' 'Scallywag Cottage'. Not going to say any more until it is signed, sealed and delivered but to say we are excited would be an understatement!!
Good luck all!
What a lovely story Spinrock! Wonderful memories.
Great reminder of a wonderful autumn event. As a Huddersfield lad, we were spoilt on Bonfire night. A Mr Worthington, a neighbour, used to set off an enormous rocket barrage from the bonfire plot. He was works manager for Standard Fireworks. Not only that, my family were also in Fireworks. My grandfather, was Lion Fireworks!!. His father started it in early 1900s I think, at Lepton, just outside Huddersfield. The area spawned a few others too, not sure why. Late 60s, early 70s, happy days indeed. Thanks for the memory Spin....
Spin hi, blimey, great story, best for a long time and memories restored !! Cheers :-)))))
You have a gift spinrock. I enjoyed that. Thanks
The cycles of waiting for the drilling results every 6/7 weeks remind me of the longing for the school holidays when you were a kid. It felt like you were waiting forever and they just couldn't come round quick enough.
I used to love this time of year. The October holidays were spent collecting firewood, or chumping as it was known in my neck of the woods. We all had our own patch, where we could go searching for wood and you had to stick to your own territory...... or else!!.....
Some of your school friends became the enemy, all because they lived in a different area and were part of a rival gang.
Chumping was hard graft. Me and my brother put our hearts and souls into it. We’d come in on a night, black as the ace of spades and moan that we had to have a bath....again. Then tired and miserable we had to endure lots of pain as my mum attacked our splintered hands with a needle.
As bonfire night approached, tensions between all the neighbourhood kids grew. We had fall outs amongst ourselves about who had collected the most wood and had big spats with the other gangs about who’s bonfire was going to be the biggest. Fights even broke out if you were caught raiding anybody else's stash, and what we had collected, was guarded with our lives........
or until your mum called you in for your tea!!
Now one particular year, I remember we were very lucky because a load of old houses had been demolished on our patch to build the new school playing field, so we had old doors and skirting boards galore. Our wood pile was absolutely massive!!
Now bonfire night was always a spectacular night. You’d be armed with your Catherine wheels, Roman candles and rockets in your biscuit tin. All the mums would be busy dishing out pie and peas, hot dogs and parkin. And one of the dads would climb up the bonfire to put the guy on top.
All us kids would be giddy with excitement waiting for half past six for the fire to be lit.
We were never disappointed.
The fire would be torched and we’d watch it burn in a blaze of glory. The air would be filled with bangs and whooshes as the fireworks lit up the sky. We'd gorge ourselves on treacle toffee and dandelion and burdock and we’d plead with our dads to let us set some of the fireworks off. At the end of the night we’d all go to bed shattered, but very happy and content.
We’d go back to school, eager to chat with our friends again and all rivalries were forgotten. We'd pat ourselves on the back because all our hard work had payed off and we had built a fantastic bonfire.
We’d then settle back into school life for another term. Back to waiting...... Longing for the Christmas holidays to come around......
I've a funny feeling that this year, Chrismas might come a bit early......... :))))

Hi Mushy,
She's always shown a moderate interest, but I'm sure that going forward that's going to increase somewhat! LOL.
(Hope you're having fun in Portugal!?) ;-)
Hi Jet
Thanks buddy, to say I'm relieved is an understatement (I was having nightmares about the Scally RNS dropping before I'd managed to get the funds invested!)
I've been in since July 2014 (first purchase was 240k at 0.42p) so I suppose I'm a medium to long term holder (who knows?)
Recent purchase sp wise is a lot higher than my ISA (2m at 1.1p) as well as previous purchases within my Pension (around 11p ish) but still very happy as we will be much higher in the months / years to come, IMHO no doubt about it!)
2021 is going to be our year!!

Yaaay, Mush, I'm a LTH, ha ha. I got sidetracked (doesn't take much). Look at this from the Hubble telescope, Nasa site.
To me it looks like a sideways shot of Santa. Loads of white hair, nose to the right and long beard. Now be careful with your comments about the 'beard' because it could be another entity, LOL.

Who was it on the board recently JET who described most long-term holders of AIM shares to be keeping them to Friday. Made me giggle.
Well done Matty. I'm glad the share price has gone sideways for you long enough to complete the process!
I have also found redistributing shares around the mush household has been of benefit...'banging on about GGP wise' :)
Hi, MattyBoy, I'm glad you got your £70K in. Your post started me thinking. I've only been in this share for a relatively short time so of course I consider myself a newbie. But, is there an agreed timeframe/concensus for when short THs turn into medium THs and then into LTHs? I've heard some posters say they've been in this share for 10 years or more, which is amazing when you think about it.
Finally received confirmation that the £70k we were awaiting on from the sale of funds within my wife and my AVIVA pensions has now been received and invested in GGP.
First tranche yesterday purchased at 22.75p and the second and final tranche today at 22.5p, so very happy to have got in under my 23p max target price.
(Now she has 'skin in the game' (to the tune of £50k) perhaps my wife will take a bit more of an interest when I keep banging on about the share price?!? LOL).
Just have to sit back and wait, as we LTHs all know where this is going to go and patience is now the key!
Going to be an exciting lead up to Christmas and the end of the year!
