Onwards and upwards my friends.
Think you may well be on a roll with that Schlemiel. And Stuart’s ducks come to mind .....
It is interesting that Newcrest have chosen to advertise for such a position externally. Why not appoint a Newcrest employee(s) to perform this most routine of tasks, a task Newcrest have no doubt performed many times before?
I'm intrigued as to why they have indeed 'gone public' with this when they could have quite easily appointed someone using an employment agency or appointed internally
Maybe I'm reading too much into it. Sometimes it's easier to accept what is
pan - It's the timing of such corporate events that pique my interest.
Agreed Schlem. I think it’s the combination of strategic moves plus some fortuitous timing that seems to be connecting a few dots. That newcrest both need and desire the fruits of gaps labours is clear but it’s the intrigue around how they intend to cement future relationships that are the mystery right now. Watch this space I guess !
hyd - Just your average gob-shyte ploughing through life
Or maybe Newcrest is unable to find an employee to perform such a complex task and require someone with a special set of skills to unearth this HG monster in the most efficient manner possible
Great find, schlemiel.
"Why not appoint a Newcrest employee(s) to perform this most routine of tasks, a task Newcrest have no doubt performed many times before?"
It's a fixed term position. They aren't looking for a permanent employee here, but for someone who will come in, do the job, make a lot of money, and move on.
Perhaps their in-house people are busy at Red Chris. Perhaps this is a role they always contract out or use fixed term people for. I don't think I'd read anything into that.
As to going public rather than using an agency, why be secretive? They've been very public that they wanted to do this. There's no secret of the fact that they intend to mine. NCM shares are up again today. Why not be public about it? The people who do this work will have been paying attention to Hav, and they'll have been watching for this kind of notice from NCM. The CVs will be rolling in.
Im leaning towards the cluster of those South West holes now Paddy....geotechnical and sterilization for the decline. If we dont here of any assays this coming announcement from NC, on these holes, I think thats a cert. They have said before that the orebody was closed off to the south....
ALTB Reddirt.
reddirt -
Would there be a site plan, showing us the location (e.g. the SW ), attached to NCM's Permit Application for a decline?
Hi red,
Nice to hear from you - I can't fault your logic and agree that NCM did say that, still I can't get that 3D image from Callums screensaver out of my head.
There is still some drilling activity going on near the sand dune crossing (SE) - I wonder what that could be for??
ATB Paddy
Yep. Because its a "Exploration Decline" as opposed to a mining decline, I think there is probably less paperwork to submit to the mines dept to get approval, but they would still have to show a plan and do all the due diligence, to get started. They would already be all over this process. Things will happen quickly.
If it's an exploration decline what exactly are they exploring for? It sounds like a silly question but are they aiming to locate NEW areas of mineralisation or expand their knowledge and understand of mineralisation they have already discovered?
Hi Paddy, I know ! This next announcement should tell us either way ... i hope!
Great find, May be they have somebody already lined up-even from GGP or similar but in the interests of fairness it must be advertised externally.
With reference to potential future Joint venture it confirms my feeling that GGP still intend to see this through to production. OK GGP will still be very reliant on Newcrest so are not entirely in the driving seat but well enough to get a good deal whatever the future outcome. Obviously it would enhance GGPs position is Scally or any other prospect came up trumps in the meantime.
But also together they must try and see off any T/O attempts by very major players(apart from those we know like Rio etc who have ground in the area) who could try-with possibly the aim of carving up the prospects between themselves just to get into the Pilbara.
Who knows but the futures bright for GGP.
It will be for both purposes schlemiel - they will be able to use the decline to complete the JORC drilling requirements from underground and also they will be able to check other & deeper areas without having to drill through the 400m of overburden every time.
ATB - Paddy
Hi Schlemiel, In a word yes. They will take some smaller diamond rigs underground, and start drilling in areas that the surface rigs didnt hit. Do some infill, go looking in other areas and also deeper. Grade control etc.
IMO.
'The Havieron Project is the primary target of the Newcrest-operated farm-in and potential joint venture with Greatland Gold. The Project is located in the Paterson Province, Western Australia, approximately 45km east of Newcrest’s 100%-owned Telfer mine.'
Any ideas why they refer it to the 'primary target', does this imply there is a secondary target within the JV?
cheers fellas. Potential upside then from this decline, potential being the operative term
AM90 - yes, I noted that. The term 'primary target' may contain the inference that there exists a secondary target or tertiary target to focus on at some point
They also have other farm in agreements around Telfer, could just as easily be the secondaries. SB can't count on Scally just yet, but there is the lonely hols to the north that could do with a bit of company!
They could be referring to the high grade sulphide target as the priority over the breccia,or they could be referring to other targets in the havarion licence that form part of the tenement blocks
I've just read the first line of the job description again -
"Seeking an Early Works Manager to guide the design, tendering, and construction of a box-cut and exploration decline and the associated surface infrastructure for the Havieron Project."
design, tendering and construction - surely that means they are only now looking at the design and positioning of the box-cut/decline? This suggests to me that they still haven't 100% got the location nailed down and they are just at the start of the process IMO.
