Overview
The Havieron Project is the primary target of the Newcrest-operated farm-in and potential joint venture with Greatland Gold. The Project is located in the Paterson Province, Western Australia, approximately 45km east of Newcrest’s 100%-owned Telfer mine.
You will manage a small owner’s team, various stakeholders and contractors, to safely and efficiently deliver the exploration decline to meet the requirements of the Havieron business plan.
Reporting directly to the Head of Projects, you will be responsible for:
Managing the tender process including development of tender documentation, evaluation
Awarding the contracts
Developing underground mining team
Managing the construction and execution of the greenfields Boxcut and Exploration Decline
Managing the surface infrastructure and mine development camp
Delivering the project on time, within budget, and as per technical specification
This is a fixed term position that will work on a FIFO (8/6) roster. Point of Hire is Perth.
I've no idea what Newcrest mean by 'potential joint venture'
Brilliant find schlemiel, yes that also seemed a strange phrase. But you certainly don’t start hiring for those that may come up! The decline is being sunk, make no bones about it.
Ducks Ducks Ducks
Likely just coincidence that the applications close 23rd of July!
Well spotted.
Excellant stuff so its hotting up. Dw about joint venture that is the case indeed
Nice find schlemiel, it's nothing we weren't expecting but another tick in the box.
I think the potential JV refers to the toll treatment JV. Once the farm in is complete then they agreement states they would progress onto a JV.

Thanks Paddy
So, the next question is where exactly is the location of the decline at Havieron?
That's the $65m question now - they must have a good idea of where it's to be sited.
I wonder if we might get some indication when the mining concept studies are released.
'Drilling at Havieron continues to expand and demonstrate the continuity of high grade mineralisation which extends over 450m, to vertical depths of 600m and remains open at depth and to the northwest. Drilling has also identified mineralised breccias proximal to high grade mineralisation. A further 20,000 metres are planned to be drilled to support the objective of delivering of a maiden resource estimate in the second half of calendar year 2020. Studies are underway to investigate the following:
• potential of starting an exploration decline by the end of calendar year 2020 or early 2021''

Well, this was from Mar 2020 so Newcrest aren't messing around here. They are eager in the truest definition of the word
A rank amateur but from what I have read the decline can be used for both exploration and mining purposes. So, I take it this decline is for the purposes of both exploration and for the extraction of ore
Hi schlemiel,
That's my understanding also mate and that's exactly what Hannam put in their broker note.
They could be using the exploration decline to remove ore from the stoping operation while continuing with the exploration and even developing the block cave infrastructure simultaneously.
The positioning of the box cut and the decline are going to be very interesting indeed.

Morning all,
The use of the word potential certainly seems to suggest that negotiations around the remaining 25 per cent will be reopened at some later stage with NCM aiming for full ownership of Havieron. I think that has been the case for some time.
I think, therefore, that there will be two cases of ‘fair market value’ to negotiate in the future. The time for the first 5 per cent discussions will be here before we know it; the second 25 per cent talks must surely take place much later and following 2 or even 3 mineral resource estimate updates. By that time, we will have a clear indication of total resources both indicated and inferred.
The key thing is that the timing of that last 25 per cent was sensibly not nailed on in the farm-in and therefore the timing of negotiations on that subject is in our hands and therefore in our favour. There is no doubt in my mind that that was the intention when the farm-in contract was drawn up.
I think the Ggp will remain an independent concern and that their attentions will now be centred around the other targets that hold such high potential.

Great find Schlemiel. I think the "potential j venture' indicates NC are likely to buy Havieron but to make sure the SP doesn't become prohibitive or at least far more expensive they are flagging it up as potential JV. Also they would have to have an agreement in place with GGP to indicate anything other than a JV. We are not that far advanced yet but for me all the signs are this could be an asset buy out. I wonder what 25-30% would be valued at?
It's described as potential because it relies on the successful completion of the farm in. Here's the passage from the farm-in RNS
"Farm-in agreement includes Joint Venture and Tolling Principles which reflect the intention of both parties that, subject to a successful exploration program and positive Feasibility Study outcome, ore from the proposed Havieron Joint Venture will be toll processed at Newcrest's Telfer Gold Mine"
NCM are just reiterating the fact it's still just a potential JV IMO.
Hi Paddy,
Yeah I see your point.
My missus is just having a look at the job spec. She reckons she may chuck her hat in the ring and stick in an application.
She is a florist but sees that NCM are an equal opportunities employer and reckons her skills with arranging are easily transferable to boxcuts.
I just think she wants to be near Gervaise.
@Paddy and the Geo's
this was Sandeeps comments after purchasing Red Chris. I haven't a cue whether this methodology would be applied at Havieron especially as they don't know where the bottom is.

The bulk of the resource is underground, and that’s where the grade increases at depth. So what we do with block caving is we go right down to the bottom and start mining from the bottom up. So that is one of the key reasons we think we can unlock this ore body and make it a tier one operating mine,” he said.
Good find there Schlemiel and the closing 'It's an exciting time to be a part of Newcrest' speaks volumes.
Applications close on the 23rd July, that date rings a bell for some reason :))
Here's to another eventful day good luck team.
Nice spot..the commencement of the decline would tie in with the plans to expand the onsite team to from 90 to 250 as stated by the electrical contractor currently working on the new infrastructure.
Will be an interesting day today for sure. GLA
@hopefully
We will find out some more when they release the mining concept studies but Sandeep has already spoken about starting with a high grade stoping operation (top down) and then maybe progressing onto a block cave scenario (bottom up) later.
The beauty of that system is they could literally start getting the high grade ore into Telfer as soon as the exploration decline is complete.
ATB Paddy
Putting to one side the possibility of takeovers etc, this announcement surely makes it absolutely crystal clear that the mine will actually happen and thus removes any uncertainty that some people may have harboured.
It's interesting that perhaps one of the most important developments we've seen is contained in a job advert.
Indeed a brilliant find Schlemiel! Looks like we definitely are off and what an exciting run up to 23 Rd it’s going to be ! Hold onto your hats ( and those sticky shares ) peeps!
Also to my knowledge first time Newcrest has actually stated that a an opening is specifically for Havieron..this suggests a lot of confidence from NC.
Gold shooting up again and Paddy sat due..can this day get any better?
Just polishing up my CV, I’m not too bad with a pick and hammer ??. I’m going underground. Good luck everyone, what a great find
Yes, a tiny job advert on an Aussie website confirms that the Havieron mine has been given the unofficial green-light. GGP is now no longer just an exploration company. I'd say that's a de-risking company event
I'm also persuade that NCM's decision to appoint RBC to explore NCM's SOLG holding is intended as a capital raising exercise ie I believe NCM intend to offload their SOLG stake and focus fully on Havieron and or maybe more another JV regarding GGP's other tenements...imvho of course
