that is the question? 20000 shares with a 70% profit. do I hold or fold?
Damodar- Yes you know what you are saying. Definitely current management waste too much on unnecessary meetings and cost.
from my post 2 April - looks like i called this right....an offer from an infrastructure investor
"Against that, the level of bureaucracy, the sheer volume of levels of mgmt, eat into costs (profits), and dynamism, but if you want a static SP and consistent but not blistering divvy i think going forward this will those infrastruture style characteristics."
Takeover bid
Apparently there is a takeover offer from 1 Squared
Much welcomed but what is going on?
Does anyone know why the sudden dip happened this morning. Any dividend news pending?
Why the dip this morning....any ideas ?
117 What is causing this rise Rush to buy at 115
Have I missed something ?
drcena; my view on this is yes, their will be dividends forthcoming; because of the rail franchises all being mgmt contracts whereby the Govt has absorbed all the risks (on passenger revenues), and FGP is paid a fixed fee regardless, with possibility for additionmal payments for meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), which they are getting to some degree, this Company is effectively an arm of Govt, effectively an infrastructure company; profits won't zoom (becauase the govt will get that upside), but it will get predictable fees (profits) with a possible KPI upside. So i don't think the SP will zoom, but predicatble earnings will dictate a predictable divy. There may be a little divy boost from the sale of Greyhound properties, and as part of that govt rail mgmt contract, as highlighted in various RNS's, it does realise previously ringfenced 'bonds' held for each of the rail franchises back to the group, and potentially shareholders. Taken in the newest rail franchise, the west coast mainline, they have spent an absolute minimum on it, minimum maintenance, freezed pay which should (disregarding the govt mgmt contract) bode well for profits.
Against that, the level of bureaucracy, the sheer volume of levels of mgmt, eat into costs (profits), and dynamism, but if you want a static SP and consistent but not blistering divvy i think going forward this will those infrastruture style characteristics.
Yeah you would assume the Institutional Investors would now pile in for the dividend. It worked out for the Board (they got rid of Coast Capital) and the SP increased past the tender, you are correct in that people got off the bus too early but with the history of Firstgroup its hard to blame them
Thanks for that drcena. So hopefully we should be getting a dividend sometime later this year. I guess that this might prompt an increase in the SP since the big institutions might get interested. Does the fact that the current SP of £1.12 is more that the recent Tender Offer of £1.05 mean that those who sold have lost out?
"With a well-capitalised balance sheet and an operating model that supports our intention to begin regular dividends to shareholders within the next 12 months". That was said by the CEO sometime in Winter last year. I'm hoping there's some truth to his statement
Looking back at my records the last time First paid a dividend was way back in February 2013 at the rate of 7.62p per share. This is approaching a decade ago and I was wondering if they have any plans to resume paying them?. I did read somewhere that it was their intention to do so but does anyone know anything definite?.
Still a long way to go for me before I get off this bus, average SP is £1.30
NO I don't think it was time to sell. ( easy later)
PYUECK that link you put up 30 11 21 Its still funny but for different reasons.
Sold about half of mine ( tendered)
Still in heavy at about 100
They are cutting it a bit fine ( dividend before end of financial year ? )
correct drcena, read the RNS 16 March. Net zero will be a big part of public transport going forward.
maybe to help with sustainability and the transition to net zero ?
Why has someone with no experience in public transport been appointed (Myrtle holds a Masters in Chemical Engineering and Chemical Technology ). SELL while going is good and invest in other company. This company will never improve
Is it a good time to sell
NOW THAT Nat Express have been dropped as bidder for Stagecoach will they have a go at trying to link up with Firstgroup?
Not a bad update. Bit of a risk that support not agreed yet for after 1st April for buses in England but sure it will happen. They seem pleased that greyhound liabilities have been de-risked and asset sales seem ahead of expectations both in terms of value and speed.
Why the sudden movement?
