ETL. Hi debbie. Could well be four Capital G (gin) Tax. I am "LOL"
ETL. Yeh I know all about double taxation. I drink profits away and pay taxes, then i pay the Local Council to clear away after me. Such is life!
Im not in but I think investors paying twice. Taxes and shares.
ETL Just checked the chat history here, anyone rolling around the floor laughing now?Cant believe that Gedw has more or less been talking to himself here since October! When are we going to notice the crudentials of the wiser posters on this site?Well done and thankyou for trying to share with us!
ETL - your logic is of course impeccable, and more power to your elbow that I am sure you have tucked away a tidy profit already. Hoever, the great unknown is what will be the final deal struck and how badly shafted will the shareholders? In the last part, the answer will be well and truly, but what will be the effect on the current sp? ..... I am afraid my single cell cannot get to grips with that at all, so to date I have done nowt.
ETL. ETL could be the nemesis for 2 proud Governments having to face the voters in allowing and creating an almighty financial heart breaker for gullible "sid" investors should the Euro Tunnel Co go Bankrupt. The French and British Governments will take first prize. ETL have now until March to strike a deal with creditors, which in real terms means, trying to persuade Brussels to allow two historic loggerhead Governments to provide an easy exit route for a £xBn indebted Coy not to go belly up and so allow the "gateway" to Europe and Eastern Europe not to close and if so to become the laughing stock of the World. There has to be a done deal, there is no alternative!
ETL. If I am going it alone here, then i will tell you that further share price appreciation is a certainty!!
ETL. My absolute belief on this on is that it will not be allowed to flounder or sink without trace. I am sure there will be light at the end of the debt reconstruction tunnel, Those Frenchies and Those Brits Governments will never allow this to flonder!!!!. I agree current shareholders will be wiped out but for the short term the share price is holding up well in spite of negative market sentiment. Jarvis British Energy Corus have all beaten this dent burden path and recovery road.
ETL - You're right that share volatility and personal nimbleness is a classic way of making good money provided you call it right to start with ..... I play with GOOG in that way; I think that overall I am ahead of the game there, but I have dropped some horrible clangers along the way too!
ETL Very much a make or break deal, and that is how it panned out, but exploit the market now. The share price is a slave to this. But in the end the brave made a packet. It all depends on ones assessment of risk, those that are risk averse, stay away. Those that can exploit the volatility the adrenalin rush is second to none. Once the deal was complete confidence came back. The share price responded and returned to some form of normal stability. My opinion is that this Co will not ever be allowed to flounder at any cost. It has to survive, what the shareholders will be left with, probably nothing, but in the meantime there is plenty of interim movement.
But presumably the debt/share swap crucified the price at the time it was done, even if it subsequently recovered. If that is so, does it not make ETL a pretty dodgy buy, but perhaps a better short?
ETL. I am looking back to the aftermath of the "Hatfeild" fallout and subsequents inquest which resulted in share price collapse and then recovery. Not quite the same but shareholders had no option but to accept a debt/share swap option. Once agrred the share price responded. History often repeats itself in different but similar guises.
JRVS - only problem with Jarvis, for making money from the shares that is, is that it seems to have little volatility. In fact, from what i can see, it has hardly moved for quite a while.
ETL. If there is any precedent I can offer, it would be JARVIS. Same set of circumstance. Similar set of investors, similar set or reputations. Perhaps the same share price appreciation outcome?
send us comments about this website. No I haven't. Maybe many people would consider sending a comment, all at the same time, to help reiterate the point. I would like to see more chat history without having to select individual shares, and I would like to be able to search chat history by person or word. Isn't copy and paste a wonderful thing on a Friday evening. This is more of a light hearted gesture than some mass protest.
Totally agree ..... Very annoying..... Have you tried telling the "powers that be", not that they would pay any attention?
ETL shush Cynic. Others are just glad to see posts returning. Also, it annoys me a bit this LSE, that it only seems possible to see very recent posts unless you enter a particular share. I keep missing many if I dont keep tuned. If I am wrong about this technicality, please correct me.
ETL - On that basis I would rather wait until the price hits 26 and go short! ...... As for being a poker player, I have purposely never even learnt the rules ..... I'ld be the dream opponent!
ETL include the word "you" after are in the first line
ETL. I cannot and will not accept you are an ignoramous or are a good poker player! Play the band. resisting 26 but embarassed by 17. This is the playing field for now, ripe for exploitation!
ETL - I read you but in this instance hold up my hand as an ignoramus, not being able to work out how to play it ..... other than probably not at all!
ETL. But exploit this scenarion for all it is worth. An absolute copper bottomed result. Debt for equity swop the only option. But get your share purchases sales right, play like the professionals
ETL - IMO unless you are already holding stock, not one to throw money at. Although what GedW has a certain logic, ETL is clearly in very very deep financial trouble. Though the governements may not let the company fold, they may well devise a cunning scheme which will allow the company to continue but completely emasculate (not sure if that is really the right verb) the shareholders.
