Healthy trade no's and volumes today. Double daily averages and predominately buys as well !!!!! D
5 million negotiated trade for 278p plus at 1 o'clock. Loads of other large negotiated trades as well. Surely can't be bad. D.
Strong start to the week........keep on motoring DOM!
Were this company supplying clothing (for example well known branded clothing) to the wealthy and making similar year on year on profits growth it would be valued at top dollar. I still say that a either a merger with a like chain or acquisition by a rich Chinese investor is the only way investors will make a killing. Likewise DP Poland.
That "bought in to early " I suspect is a big club to be a member of in here. I don't think there is a need to panic here, Its probable we are just caught up in the general lack of confidence in the entire retail sector. 255p was a great price here for getting in, hats of to any who had the patience to wait for it. I certainly hope it doesn't happen but I have arranged funds to buy again if we dip into the 250's again. I look forward to next week, let's see what happens. D.
Hopefully it has, but either way, a good turnaround. I do thinj the bottom was 2.55 or so. Cant see it back at near £4 for a long time, but 3 to 3.25 is achievable. With share buy back scooping up and hopefully the shorters buying back..We need a break, bought in too early, but think I will break even soon. GLA
Whatever guys it was a positive end to the week, ex divi or not. I'm not that bothered what range we trade in on Monday. What I would like is next weeks trading to be predominantly in the 270's with a move to the 280's come end of trading on Friday. I know I'm maybe being majorly optimistic but heh let's see what happens. D.
No, it went ex dividend on Thursday and recorded on Friday.
No you needed to be on the register by 4.30pm on Friday 4th August......its was in the last RNS
Dom has already gone ex div on Thursday...
Ex divi day, it was always going to rise but 4% is a great gain, they will no doubt open this at 3.75p down on Monday at 8am....the real strength would be to see it pop back in morning trading to go blue.............just hope it is a bit of a lasting recovery :)
Nice thinking, but I do not think the share price has anything to do with the sale of pizzas. Funny old world. Well oversold, realisation that in these difficult times, this company makes hard cash. Or maybe, it has gone so low that rumours are starting about a possible takeover. Somebody knows something.
Keep buying those pizzas!
Sorry about the double post. D.
Patience is what's required. I'm looking for an exit strategy, buying again might not seem sensible but it is a possibility if it drops further. Holding for a long term recovery is probably a more reasonable strategy it's just not for me. I'm not sure about the laughing bit mind you. Good luck whatever you decide. D.

Thanks again. All sounds like sound thinking. As for lowering average in case of further alls, pity for me is that I have already done that. No more juice in the tank, so if this tanks, I must just wait. Like you, I got in too early but then no one saw this coming. It's big fall came with Investec calling for £2.70 but now we can't even make that it seems. At least foraging a pizza stock is more viable than some commodity. Ha ha. You have to laugh.
WW I to hold DOM at a paper loss my current average is 293p, if we drop back to mid 255's again, which I expect I will buy to lower my average. I don't think going ex divi is going to make that much of a difference, the daily fluctuation of the share price over the last few months has in the main been greater than the divi of 3.75p There appears to be very little market confidence in DOM at the moment " investors chronicle have this week advised DOM as a sell " No one knows when or if the share price will get back to previous levels. There would be no point in selling before Friday might as well have the divi. For me I just want to get out with as little damage as possible l don't do LTH so getting in here to early was just a misjudgement on my part. Good luck WW hopefully your next forage into the market will be a profitable one !!!!!! D.
It really has been frustrating since March...........such a shame!
Excellent analysis re Dividend. Thanks. And I hope I am not saying that simply because I need to hear it. Ha ha. I have been with DOM a long time now with various ups and downs. I used to think £3.40 was a no risk bottom line. Well that got shot all to hell obviously. But I know from walking the streets that it is still a prized brand and I think your take is true. Will hold on for another month at least.
WW - i think the divi amount is approx 3.5p, chances are it could just open 3.5p lower the day after ex divi (Friday) but i would expect that to recover quite quickly, this share will be strong from mid Augist to the year end. It is a strong business and the results have been solid. It just cant break free from the eddy that seems to be holding and pulling it back from March......Patience will be rewarded with this and i feel the catalyst would be a sustained growth in the sp back above 285p once that is breached then the next milestone would be back over 300p, all very possible very soon and once there is a more sustained wave of sentiment this should climb back up towards that 400p mark..........
So Domino goes Ex-Dividend very shortly. It is a process I know very little about. Except it seems that stocks often fall after going Ex-Divi. So I have to wonder if this stock which is widely regarded as being undervalued is going to go even lower. Does anyone have any useful opinions? Personally I am down so much that I don't feel much like moving but maybe I should. :-(
WW. Nice summary. Have watched this fall recently and decided buy in this morning. Looks oversold to me.
Yeah, To my mind it was a ridiculous reaction. Almost like an AIM sell on news brigade reaction. This will go and go well
WackWack it's Interesting the article stated that Numis have said the figures were 'soft', they today reaffirmed a Buy rating and set their price target at £4.50! These drops have been well overdone in my opinion, profits up, dividend up, share buy backs resuming, I must be looking at the wrong chart?! Hopefully we'll see a rise soon GLA.
