From the RNS, record date is 2nd June so ex-div date is likely 31st May: "The Board has declared an interim dividend of 3.7 pence per share (2016: 3.5 pence), an increase of 5.7%, payable on 21 June 2017 to shareholders on the register at 2 June 2017. The continued strength of our cash flow generation has also enabled us to fulfil our previously communicated intention to make an additional capital return to shareholders. Therefore in addition to the ordinary interim dividend, the Board proposes to pay on the same date a special dividend of 9.5 pence per share."
Hi Compass - agreed re results - when does dfs go ex dividend as I am thinking about buying to get the dividend/special dividend Thanks C
Great results. Onwards and upwards.
MUCH
Great results and that special divi is more than I thought......this deserves a munch larger PE than 5.....5.7% increase in the interim divi whats not to like? conviction buy........
I invested in the stock on 15 Feb for a few reasons that I have put in earlier posts......Today, I hope that my thoughts and reasons for investing in this stock come to fruition.....but you never know....we shall see....
Nice rise to finish on Friday, hope this continues next week.
all gone pretty quiet here, stock holding its 200day average on light volume, not long until results at end March and hopefully a nice special dividend announcement.
No i was very lucky, a few weeks ago it was my only losing stock, i got out with a bit of profit a couple of hours before dilution was announced. Think it finished 60-70% lower than the daily high! I will probably buy back next week for less than half price lol. The downtrend is broken here on short and mid term scales so coupled with what i believe to be outstanding value and exciting news flow so looking very positively forwards. I has a look at your punts, they seem like good growth prospects. You seem to like growth stocks as do most pro traders. Personally i prefer stocks battered within half an inch of their life and chaos generally to find value. I give the tyres a good kicking too before i buy! ATB
i think one misunderstood area re dfs and ecommerce is how all their sales are made to order. This keeps stock to a minimum of what's in the showroom, and allows them to offer a large range without tying up capital. And having stores is also important for customers as Compass says. Ikea doesn't make to order, so only is able to offer a small cheap range. Amazon doesn't have the extensive supply network required.
Hi oldbadger yes I have been watching the shenanigans....and along with the P/E and the Advent situation looking like being sorted, DFS although retail is almost protected from E-commerce....ie most people will still buy a new sofa etc from a display and not from the internet, However if I have a fear it would be that DFS could be dragged down with other retail outlets but updates and actual figures will eventually take care of that...G/L
You do like your mini minnows sir. I noticed it battering through the cnbc ticker this morning. Hope you didn't get to badly burnt. D.
Sold out of XTR this morning at 0.042p. Pheeeeew close one! Bloody criminal what they have done to holders
Welcome Compass If you've been monitoring Dfs you'll be aware of the recent shenanigans by the former owner Advent. There gone now with the Chairman who was their top man before ipo going shortly. I couldn't disagree with your reason for buying, this company had lost almost 40% of it's value over the last year for no understandable reason whatsoever !!!! Anyway lets hope it's onward & upwards now. Be interesting to see who gets the top job in the spring. D.
Got into this only recently after keeping an eye on them for some time....my reason for buying in the end was the ridiculous P/E I understand the risks in retail, and I feel the upside far out wieghs the downside and im prepared to take that risk on....you can never be 100% you have bought at the correct time but here goes...GLA
Youve got me curious with those minnows, dont recognise the tickers but will have a look. DFS is interesting on resistance levels it seems 50p milestones are significant. This needs to break 350p to get really exciting but the special divvi complicates the chart. I guess if we get a regular divvi around 7%/annum and throw in the promised bonus one this year a flat sp would be pretty good. When you consider risk in the market with aim, blue chips etc its all proportionate really. Theres always a risk with investing but really its about putting odds in your favour. I would argue for example that genl is far riskier than tesco but the reward potential far outways the risk. The real risk is allocating funds disproportionately and losing too much in one stock. ATB
Yes surprised they've allowed PHTM's recovery to gain so much momentum this close to year end results. I'm sure results will be padded out to the Nth' degree to stick it to Sunday Rags. I'm glad Advent called it a day here surprised there latest and last dump didn't have a similar effect to the pre Christmas Sell off, we'll soon see I suppose !!!!! I did notice GENL have had an excellent February, you n' the guys over there can breath easy the Badger won't be boarding the ship, some long suffering Pi's over there deserve a break I hope this current uptrend can continue. I've done it the one thing I told you I'd never do. I've dipped my toe into the aim o & g minnows pond again. Sdx & Tlou. Just a grand in each to keep them on my radar. D.
Its been a good few trading days for my stocks, genl and xtr doing pretty well alongside this little fella. Good to see PHTM has recovered well for you. Genl is hotting up with some good news on the gas field so im feeling positive for 2017. ATB
These shares, now without this shareholder should really start to motor to the brokjers target price.Their shops are busy and they are making good use of their floorspace filling with Dwell etc.My son recently both bought products from both divisions and was very happy.Great potential for profitable growth
Well that's Advent gone, good riddance. See they only achieved 228p this time. If my memory serves me right CEO who was their man moves on next month as well, He owns a fair amount of shares be interesting to see what he does with them. D.
Looks like theres lots of free cash available for a special divvi. The 260p gap close seems to be coming to fruition at last. Have to say i would much rather see the free cash used to clear debt but the stock should be very excitable over the next month or two so i wouldnt be at all surprised if 300p is broken through. No i didnt buy any phtm, im not convinced by the business model although thats not really a negative opinion more so its not my cup of tea. Im still as sure as ever though this will be the year for GENL, the situation seems to be improving rapidly. Much of the doom and gloom i believe is the board playing games with the KRG. Seems to me the rns out are aimed politically towards the KRG than shareholders. ATB buddy hope you are well
whole stake hoovered up at 228 by the big holders
Looks like were LTH'rs again. Be interesting to see where we go to this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Feeling a bit of Deja vu then Soleman. D.
On the ball this morning guys I've not had my cornflakes yet and there's three posts in. Not read the rns yet I presume it's a long un' I'll save it till later. Let's hope it's what's needed to give us a move up from this 220's ish rut. Soleman did you take a wee punt on PHTM during our mauling at the hands of the Sunday newspapers. In the end I loved it doubled my holding while taking almost 15p off my average. Still haven't pushed the button on Genel yet just can't get myself to do it. D. PROPER 240p's HERE NEXT WEEK.
oh well, that was fun whilst it lasted...flat on the day now....i'm in for the 7.5% dividend this year, i don't really understand why its been so poor a stock, maybe advent overhang is still a problem
