Yes very solid, im expecting 5-10% upwards today. Could be more though a special divvi is very positive st to a sp
7pct revenue growth, good cash generation, forecasts unchanged, fx impact under control, special dividend to be declared with next results. Can't ask for more than that from a stock on 9x p/e.
I would expect there to be a significant spike in the share price next week when the results are announced. They had good half year figures and they seem to be making good use of their floor areas, however the share price has been doing quite poorly since the sell off and have difficulty in understanding it.
This is one I monitor daily and had noticed the change in open, intraday and close prices over the last ten days or so. I had an inkling a change was in the offing. I do hope we have not jinxed it. I know Genel's your baby sir and as I'm mostly in cash at the moment I'll have a look tomorrow, last time I was in I got bored and sold out with a small loss. D.
Looks like some short positions got burned today forcing the price rapidly through 230p. If it closes above 260p should be imminent. ATB fella, big day for genl tomorrow
I've probably over reacted but as my portfolio has performed so well over the last 4 or 5 weeks I've taken profits from everything. I am now 75% in cash . Like yourself I have concerns about trading in this record high market so I have reduced my holding in everything. Mrs May has now told us it's to be a hard Brexit, I think the market will need a couple of days to digest that news so I will hold a watching brief for the moment. Like yourself I can't see SPI not benefiting from the current NHS crisis. They've two new hospitals opening this year and St Anthony's is also opening it's doors again post renovation. NHS cut their use of SPI facilities last year can't see that happening this year. I will watch this one closely. D.
The only wee in and out ive done was flying up to scotland for new year, that was good fun. I like the look of MCS thats a sound company growing fast and in an industry surely set to continue exponential growth for time to come. Could be a future FTSE100 candidate. SPI has a similar story and will surely profit from the nhs overspill and any legislative changes. I will buy and hold it but im not convinced by this market at all. There are so many negatives globally that could spill over into a global recession. The longer things go well in the economy the more painful thing are when they go wrong and were well overdue. I believe in economic cycles and worry about the eventual outcome of extraordinary central bank intervention over recent years. ATB
Hi Soleman I was just having a wee moan, dfs has been good to me lifted near £500 in dividends and probably made another £500 trading prior to Christmas. Down to 1500 shares now will top up if a good opportunity arises. My two new shares are mcs & phtm picked both up low 150's during the festive period mcs up 5% plus a bit of divi. and phtm up 12% . Early doors obviously but it's nice to be showing a wee bit of early profit on a share that wasn't bought for short term trading. Funnily enough picked up spi on the drop first thing this morning read the rns before market opened and didn't think the 10% drop was justified. Made a decent profit with a wee ' in and' oot' at debs.Don't normally do really short term stuff but it was crying out to me. D.
Happy new year! I think 2017 will be a stock pickers market. Yeah sure this has been slow but were in profit and have no doubt drunk away that dividend over the festive period. Looks to me like a break of 230p will set this off towards 260p in short order so some movement may be around the corner. Which two great guns stocks are you referring to? I like the look of spi, cob and the try/jpy as a carry trade. Only the lira is a conviction buy for me though at this stage though im doing a lot of research but dont want to get carried away with this market. ATB
Hi buddy, this board is excellent for non biased discussion. Sure there are ups and downs in production but i think GENL is running at a p/e of around 1 which is about as cheap as ive ever seen in a stock. Of course a risk premium discounts the share price but not that much! There is a lot of discussion of payments but they keep rolling in and have done for some time, again another nervous factor depressing the price but they just need to keep coming in to allay that fear. Of course there is some risk but to put it in poker terms i feel weve got aces in the hole with the market all in so i like the odds. ATB it feels like another LMI or FXPO if you were on those boards before the rise began you will know how deep the nerves and anger ran, relax and let others lose sleep over it
Happy new year chaps , hi soleman hope u well ? Thought I'd post here as more private . Havnt bought in here yet but been watching ! Was here to discuss how u feel genel will progress as its not running smoothly if we honest as thought we might of reached 90 after 6 days of small rises while other oils rising better . Had a setback since with 3 days of falling An payments uncertainty?? Thoughts buddy if you have time !!!
Hi Soleman. I like to think I'm a patient guy but this thing is so slow I don't see any chance of it beating the Hare !!!!!!!! If your any good at setting fires light one under this cos' there hasn't been a spark here since early November. I see your favourite Turkish oil company's had a wee rally hope it's maintained for you this time. My first two new picks for the new year going great guns that's probably why I'm having a gripe about this. D.
Happy new year to you and your family Soleman. I'll be about on here for a while. 2017 should be an interesting year for us Brexit in or out or somewhere in between will keep us on our toes. D.
Wishing you a happy new year. Whether invested here or not use this board as a base for our share talk🍾🥂
Thank you Soleman. I hope you and all your family had a lovely Christmas working or not. I've dabbled a bit in Genel this year, it's a strange one. Ask the question of what's holding it back and you'll get 20 different reasonable answers. It's a shame Steello's gone he was a nice guy. I've been burning the midnight oil over the books " well tablet " for a week. I came up with one I think is Brexit risk minimal and seriously undervalued. Mcs. It's not much for a weeks work but as you say sir patience is the keystone. Good hunting all. D.
Merry xmas to you both, wishing you great sucess in the coming year. Its a shame to loose you steello but patience is the way to win this game in the end. If you want a little more jazz for 2017 have a serious look at genl, thats my top pick for the new year. Badger i will have a more serious look at phtm when i get chance but ive been working non stop through xmas. Tight loins boys
Thank you Steello I also hope you and your family have a nice time over the Christmas holidays. I have all but finished the investment bug till the new year most of my shares sold now. Some sold at a profit some at a loss finished the year around a grand down. Oh well !!!!! Brexit, Brexit, Brexit the mantra next year oh and less mistakes from yours truly. Trade buys set at 215p here 159p at phtm and 189p at esur all set up would be nice to get a couple of them. Next time we speak I hope your telling me your pot is spread over a wide range of ftse 250 companies that's the way to go according to the so called experts. Good Hunting sir. D.
Good afternoon. Just thought I'd pop on the board and wish both oldbadger & soleman1 a very merry Christmas. Sadly Dfs wasn't for me, I'm far too impatient and took my loss. I hope you both do well here and with your other investments and I hope we meet again on another board. True gentlemen. Good luck and best wishes, Ste
Good morning Soleman I'm still here, afraid I've not been as organised as yourself. Took me till yesterday to finalise my dfs holding never got close to weeks lows ended up having to pay 222p costs included. On a brighter note got initial buy in phtm sub 160p. Trimmed portfolio right back going into new year more cash than equities. Sepu a bummer to us all then, signs were there very few of us noticed them. Esur biggest paper and real loss to me this year. All but 4 figure loss there, hopefully better year for them next year. No more trading for me this year going to find different companies for next year. Pinning a lot of my hopes on phtm, trading update 8th January, will top up sub 160p if I get the chance can't see it happening mind you. D.
Long time no speak, its a busy time of the year for me with my missus and i both having bdays just before xmas. Looks like all going to plan here with a northward drift. 260p doesnt feel to far from reach, did you buy any round 217p mark? I initiated a trading buy so looking good with a breakeven stop.
Sounds like a plan Soleman. I think we should get at least one more wee dip during this big dip, if that makes sense. Whatever I'll be fully back in on Friday. Hope dfs waits a few days for me, I get a bit bored when things are quite so stuck the waiting cash in hsba over Monday and Tuesday. I've done this twice before and done okay. Avge 654p ish. It seems certain that fed will raise interest rate today which I'm hoping will give hsba a mini peak to yearly high, whatever I'll be over the sell button tomorrow. I can't help myself sometimes. D.
Haha, i only sleep 3-4 hours a night! Gives me plently of time to troll through balance sheets and play xbox without distraction from the missus. Im watching to see if this touches 217p today, a bounce from there and i will add a trading buy aimed at closing the gap on 260
I've just noticed the time on your posts sir " do you never sleep " D.
Thank you Soleman. I'm not being lazy in asking your opinion I've researched them across every platform I can find, it does no harm to ask. Unlike others on some boards I do know what dyor means. They've expanded into the laundrette business and apparently it's doing okay, still looking in to the figures for that part of the business. Read somewhere late last night that there ready to introduce new technology where your passport can be automatically applied for by using one of there booths. Seems a bit fanciful to me but if true and exclusive to phtm it could be a game changer. Will do a bit more exploring to see what I can find. D.
I have looked over phtm a few times and recently, robbie burns the naked trader has a long position in it with a target of 165p. On his website you can view all his open and historical trades with stop and target info its worth a look if you havent already. As a retail stock its quite comparable to dfs with: - similar annual profit to dfs -phtm growing about 3 times faster -a price to earnings about 30% higher than dfs (more expensive) -phtm has less than a third of the assets dfs does I am always wary of companies like phtm, on one hand they can deliver very fast growth and quick profits but they also are high risk. Their destiny in other peoples stores is uncertain and in many ways out of their control. Personallly i wouldnt buy it but i can see there is an argument to be made for it on the growth potential. ATB
